Old farmhouses came back to life after an accurate makeover for welcoming and accommodating you in the hart of Tuscany (few km from Florence) and 100 meters from the village center (shops, restaurants, newspapers, bank, ...). In the rooms, furnished in good traditional Italian taste, or sat on a tree shadow in the garden, you can relax in a very familiar and quiet atmosphere .
The main apartment (YELLOW HOUSE) has 4 bedrooms with bathroom, kitchen and common room with fireplace. Also available for partial rent (2 or 3 bedrooms with bathrooms) 1940 sq.ft (180 sq.m).
The other apartment (RED HOUSE) has 2 bedrooms with bathroom, kitchen and common room with 5 sleeping accommodations 1180 sq.ft (110 sq.m).
We have just returned from a recent stay in the yellow house.
Good points – The villa is a good size with 4 large bedrooms all with ensuites. The villa is kept clean and the pool is very clean. The Villa is reasonably priced.
Bad points – The “air conditioning” is underfloor cooling which worked in the living room and kitchen but did not work in the bedrooms, the temperature controls in the bedroom showed consistently 28 degrees, too hot to sleep and only 2 fans in the house. Not sure if the cooling system was broken as there was a large damp patch on the wall and we advised the owner of this and the hot bedrooms and she advised that she needed to get it repaired but she was now going away for a couple of days and would not be getting it fixed and no she did not have anymore fans!
The pool is beside the other Villa and we were advised when we asked at booking that this was shared with the other Villa which was being rented by friends of ours so we were not too bothered. Once we arrived we found that the owners live in the lower part of the other Villa and also use the pool, I found this quiet uncomfortable felt like I was intruding on their personal space. The furniture round the pool is old or quiet frail so I asked the owner where we could sit, the area for the villa guests is round the other side of the red house not by the pool and not shaded. This meant that we could not really sit outside.
The Villa is rented to accommodate 8 adults but the comfortable furniture in the living room only consists of 1 sofa an armchair and 2 other chairs. There is a dining room table and chairs in the living room but this is not a comfortable place to sit for evenings.
There was one of the best vacation for the whole our family! The spacious and shining Yellow House was very quite and sunny, Maria was very nice and patient answered all our questions and gave fine recommendations, pool and garden were amazing. The only problem was to leave the home for hikes: children definitely preferred to stay in a pool and hammocks forever!
We've never had a better holiday home! Beautiful swimming pool, child friendly, nice owners, nice garden and terrace downstairs to eat or drink something, tasteful furniture, lots of space in the apartment, quiet. 100 meters away is a nice osteria where we could eat with locals, we had a great walk along the river from the house, and very close to lots of beautiful villages and towns in Tuscany.
We stayed at the Yellow house for two weeks. Clean, spacious, comfortable and well kitted out. Great pool and loved the hammock. Maria was friendly and helpful, a lovely lady. No regrets about choosing this place for a holiday.
We were greeted by Maria at the gate - she was so wonderfully sweet and helpful. The house was the perfect size for a family of 6. We loved how spacious it was. The internet worked great which was a must have for our family. The location was perfect for a central location. We took day trips to Florence, Siena, Cinque Terre, and even Venice. We drove to the Empoli train station (about 10 min) and parked our car in their parking lot (had LOTS of spaces - and easy to park our huge van). Rate for parking was very inexpensive. We left the van there all day and took off! The price for a train to Venice was a bit high for 6 of us so we drove to a littler train station outside of Venice - Padova, parked the car, and took the train. Took about 3 hours to drive.
For one day we arranged for a private tour of the Tuscan small towns and wineries.
There was a small grocery open early in the morning about a 4 minute walk from the house - straight out of the drive way - across the street and on your left.
Maria gave us great suggestions for restaurants and small towns in the Chianti region to visit.
The house and neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful. I would go back tomorrow if i could.
we arrived and were welcomed by the nicest owner you can imagine, she also had some good tips for us. it was a lovely spacious house much bigger then we expected. The location was great, very near to Empoli train station (you can park the car just a few feet from the station). From the station you can reach Pisa, Florence, Siena etc. very easy. Trains run on a regular bases. it was a great holiday with good food, good wine, nice weather and very good coffee in the local casa di popolo. We very much recommend this house and location. Thank you very much for having us and a lovely holiday
