Le temps était mauvais mais tout le reste était excellent

  • 5 of 5

A lovely surprise and was enjoyed by all

  • 5 of 5

This is the first time that we have written a review but felt that we should this time. We booked very late and were concerned about what we were to find as the Home Away STAR Reviews had shown a very much mixed picture of the property but there was no need to worry. The Property is what the advert says and we were delighted with our holiday.

There were 6 of us and there was plenty space and the house was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed and more. As we could not bring as much clothing as we would have like it was no problem, as the utility room had a large washing machine, dryer and big steam iron and ironing board. The Big TV and SKY was invaluable as we all love sport, especially football.

My husband has a small business and he was able to spend an hour or two keeping contact as the house has good wifi and this was one of the deciding factors.

The pool and outside area was lovely and we were able to swim even though it was spring. We spent many lovely evenings in the BBQ and Gazebo area.

There are so many nice places to visit within easy driving distance. In the town, there is a Tourist Office and that was a great help.

The local area has supermarkets and shops for everything for your holiday and you are still in the countryside.

Two restaurants are within easy walking distance and further afield others offering very good value. Peter will give good advice.

We were very lucky with the weather and that of coursed helped.

We hope that this might help others when choosing where to stay.

GREAT TIME HAD BY ALL

  • 5 of 5

This was the 3rd time I have stayed here in the last 5 years. First with my wife and two friends in the spring, the second time in August with daughter and her children they loved the place especially the pool and the local park with a sandy lake and playground. This time I went with four mates for the fishing.

The holidays were all 5 Stars, the house is not the Ritz and would be about 3 stars as a hotel but has everything you could expect and is clean. The location is ideal for visiting wonderful places, it is close to supermarkets and all the shops you need yet is in the countryside.

The latest trip for local fishing was fantastic, not that we caught any giant carp but got our fair share. The Dordogne river was wonderful and the river by the house was very good we also went to Lac Gurson. Peter helped us with a cleaning lady and supplied the food for breakfast and packed lunches. At night we eat locally and again Peter gave us the best places to eat that did not cost the earth.

Lovely Holiday and Great Value

  • 4 of 5

Nice house with everything you could need. Exceptional Pool with good BBQ and eating area. Old outside fridge was great for having a cold beer or wine by the pool in the evenings.

Where the property is situated makes it ideal for visiting fantastic towns and sites. Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion, Perigueux, Bergerac and many other places of interest within an hours drive. We did a whole day trip to Grotte de Lascaux and Sarlat about 150 mile round trip but well worth it.

I spent a few mornings fishing in the nearby river and local lake; big Carp if you can catch one! Peter who was very helpful got the licence for me.

A late Lovely Summer Break!

  • 4 of 5

Everything we wanted from the house and it was very quite yet everything we needed was only 10 minutes away. The Pool and area was excellent but as we are getting on in age we did not use the pool that often but when we did if was very nice and water warm. The BBQ, Gazebo and garden furniture was very good and comfortable. We enjoy many good evenings sitting, eating and drinking the local wines by the pool. We were very fortunate with the weather and there were glorious sunsets.

As we enjoy wine the property was ideal for both visiting both Bordeaux and Bergerac areas. As always Saint Emilion was a joy and we would recommend a visit to the fabulous New Wine Museum on the banks of the Garonne. We booked online and saved 5 euros each.

Bordeaux itself it a wonderful City and we spent two days there. We parked on the outskirts and we used the local trams and buses. One of the days we had a ticket for 10 trips for I think 10 euros and visited many places of interest. The other day spent time on a river trip on the Garonne and stopped in the evening for a very good Chinese meal at Au Bonheur du Palais. Peter had recommended it and it made a nice change.

Peter was on hand most helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Finally having UK TV was a god send as and the Giant Screen was loved by the men for looking at their football sport and for me to keep up with Corrie.

Relaxing stay, wonderful pool!

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely holiday at St Lazare, with four adults and four young children, we had more than enough space. Peter was very friendly and helpful. The house was very spacious and whilst the house would benefit from redecorating, it was generally as described and clean and well equipped. The garden and pool were lovely, we used the outdoor eating area every evening along with the brick barbecue, and the setting was tranquil and rural. The main pool is very deep so may not be suitable for non swimmers but there was a small paddling pool which was great. Very relaxing and laid back stay!
