Private And Quiet Cabin On The Shore Of Tims Ford Lake In Middle Tennessee
About Mary Dilsaver
Dave & Mary grew up and still live in Bowling Green, OH. Dave worked for Owens-Illinois/Techniglas for 35 years before retiring, and Mary worked as a secretary at Bowling Green State University for 25 years before her retirement. She still works part-time. The cabin was hand built by Dave's Uncle Joe and cousin Mark. We purchased the cabin where we had spent many happy vacations over the years when Uncle Joe passed away. We still enjoy spending time there with our children and grandchildren, and we love sharing it with others who appreciate the quiet country life it affords.
Mary Dilsaver purchased this Cabin in 2004
Why Mary Dilsaver chose Winchester
The cabin is perfect for a couple who want some quiet time away. There are neighbors close by, but in the summer the trees screen the view and you feel like you are alone out in the country, except for the occasional boat that comes by. You can't even see the road from the cabin. The birds and especially hummingbirds are plentiful, and there are deer, squirrels, and chipmunks that you will often see in the trees. Even the neighbor dogs are friendly, and sometimes swim across the cove to visit.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabin is unique since it was built by hand. It is small, but oh so cozy. There is a swing on the deck, overlooking the lake, and another swing down by the dock. We spent many happy vacations there with our family before purchasing the cabin in 2004. You will find everything you need already there, from sheets and towels to dishes, pots and pans and utensils. All you really need to bring is your clothes. We even supply soap and shampoo, dishwashing liquid, and paper towels. You'll find ketchup, mustard, and mayo in the fridge, and coffee ready to go into the coffeepot. We want our guests to just relax and enjoy their time at the cabin, not worry about everything they need to bring. And there is a Walmart Supercenter and a Kroger just a couple of miles away where you can pick up anything else you might need. Also there are many wonderful restaurants in Winchester, so you don't really need to cook at all if you want a real vacation from everyday chores.

Awesome location on the water. Great communication with the owner.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Hawk Nest!
We were happy to have you and your husband return for your 3rd visit! We hope you will celebrate another anniversary with us again in the future.
Great family stay!
This cabin is perfect! Stocked with everything you will need, no understatement. The outside firepit, swingset and dock provided hours of relaxing as a family. The cabin is small and rustic- yet clean and comfortable! We really couldn’t have been more thrilled. The stairs/ladder were not as much of a challenge as we expected! The grills were perfect for cooking. The listing was very accurate and we had a great time. We loved how close to town this cabin is. The marinas are not too far if you rent a boat. There are even movies and games if you are rained in. I will say this cabin is small so, the outside area becomes the social space. Checking in and communicating with the owner was a breeze. Maybe the best VRBO experience I have had (and we use it everywhere we go!). We will be back!
Thank you so much for writing such a nice review of our little cabin! We try our best to make things clean and comfortable, and it's nice to know that it is appreciated. You are right about the stairs. They look intimidating, but are really pretty easy to navigate. We also spend most of our time outdoors. All the shade makes even the hottest day bearable. You really feel like you are way out in the country, but town is just down the road. I hope you will return soon.
Relaxing area on the lake
Great outdoor area, quiet spot on the lake, all of the toiletries and housewares you could want/need. Nice dock for swimming and fishing.
Thanks, April. We like to make everything convenient and avoid all the hassles of trying to remember to bring everything you need -- and forgetting that one item you really do need! It's happened to us, so we try to keep all the little things stocked at the cabin. We want everyone to be able to relax and enjoy their stay and not have to worry about extra trips to the store.
Beautiful lake view. Quiet and peaceful.
The cabin is quiet and peaceful, and a great place to just relax and rejuvenate. You can just forget about the hustle and bustle of every day life, while you watch the boats on the lake and the trees swaying in the breeze. I’m glad you had a restful weekend.
Great Fishing Cabin
Loved the view of the lake from the kitchen window...The steps going upstairs are steep and require backing down like a ladder but we were aware of that at rental...
The lake looks great from the window, but looks even better from out on the deck or down by the dock! The stairs are unusual, but really not a problem unless you have a problem with stairs in general. They are wide, and there’s a good railing to hold onto. I hope you had a great weekend, both inside and out!
The cabin is close to Falls Mill, which you can tour for a nominal fee and has scenic picnic grounds. Jack Daniels Distillery, where you can take a tour is also nearby. Both Chattanooga and Nashville are close enough for day trips, and the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville is a must-see.
