A delightful cottage in a great area with wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to a welcoming warm cottage supplied with all that was needed for self-catering plus an enjoyable bag of 'goodies', which were much appreciated. The location gives ample opportunity to explore the nearby coastal towns and the interior is within easy reach for day trips.

Elaine and Robert were the perfect hosts going beyond their duty to help out and we offer our many thanks.

We recommend this dovecot for any looking for a quiet and relaxed rest.

Charming garden flat with most amenities you would want - ideal for a relaxing holiday.

  • 5 of 5

The flat has a lovely, peaceful situation among gardens and well away from traffic. It is spacious and extremely comfortable with a smart, large-screen television and a well-equipped kitchen . The owners are friendly and helpful. It is next to a golf club which has a bar offering snacks and bar meals. There are also stables nearby and it is only 3 or so miles to the coastal resort of Ely with a superb beach and many coastal wallks

A tranquil cottage with modern amenities

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is tucked away in the middle of the countryside in an ideal location for exploring fife. Surrounded by wildlife you can hear the sound of the birds rather than the noise of traffic. We saw pheasants and deer as well as a variety of birds. On the property is a beautiful extensive garden with access to a pond and an orchard and within walking distance there are stables where you can go horse riding and a golf course where you can play 18 holes and/or eat a meal. There are also 2 restaurants on JUSTEAT which will deliver a takeaway to you.

On arrival we were met with a beautiful "Welcome Pack". The bread, milk, tea and coffee were gratefully received and the eggs, croissants and wine were an extra added bonus. There was a menu for the golf course and a variety of leaflets and maps for the local area as well as further afield in Scotland. In a folder, there is a lovely note from the owners giving you all the details you need for using the cottage and useful contact numbers.

The cottage is beautifully clean and airy, the chairs and bed are both extremely comfortable and there is everything we needed for a comfortable stay. But what made the cottage very appealing to us, was the fact that it had wi-fi and a smart TV. It meant we could watch Netflix in the evenings and be in touch with family and friends through the internet.

A Kingdom of Fife Treasure

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at the Doocot. It's a beautiful property surrounded by a golf course and stunning scenery, with stables nearby. Elaine and Robert are professional, personable, and extremely caring hosts who provided wonderful, thoughtful amenities and additional items we requested. They are the perfect hosts who honor your privacy but are also available when needed. The apartment was well furnished, clean, well maintained, and simply a great value. We were within easy driving distance to the beach, coastal paths, quaint villages, St. Andrews, Edinburgh, historic sites, and golf courses. This was a wonderful experience, and we highly recommend it to other travelers. This is one of our all-time favorite places to stay and would love to return again and again. Thank you, Elaine and Robert, for welcoming us and providing such a lovely experience!

Lovely Cottage with all we needed

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We were made very welcome with wine, bread, eggs and croissants, which we really appreciated. It was in a beautiful location, and the owner Elaine told us of some local walks. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and would heartily recommend the cottage. It was so nice to wake to the sound of bird song and to see horses in the nearby fields.

Peaceful and relaxing haven

  • 5 of 5

The Doocot is a lovely cottage set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. It was obvious the moment we arrived that the owners have lovingly prepared the cottage so that its guests feel welcome, with everything that is needed for a relaxing holiday. The cottage is very well equipped, with a thoughtful welcome pack on arrival, and there are also lovely outside areas for guests to enjoy sitting outside. The weather was beautiful during our stay and there is plenty to see and do in and around the cottage.

Elaine and Robert are very respectful of guests' privacy but very helpful and on hand if and when needed. Many thanks to you both for your kindness while we were there. We highly recommend this lovely haven.
