You can access the trails from the home and go for miles. All the roads in the neighborhood dead end at trail heads. North National Park is walking distance to the house and offers Frisbee golf, ball fields, snowmobile rentals and much more. The Lake at Kings Beach is 2.5 miles away and has boat and kayak rentals. Shopping and restaurants 2.5 miles away, casinos 3 miles away that will satisfy your thirst for nightlife. Crystal Bay Club is known for their music venues, and Cal Neva for their spa services. There is an abundance of restaurants and shops scattered up and down Kings Beach that will cater to your daytime or evening dining fancies.

In the wintertime… you are in the middle of the North Shore with easy access to all the ski resorts. The house is 4 miles to the entrance of Northstar which offers a great all-around skiing mountain. Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley are minutes away with a short cut that eliminates dealing with traffic in Tahoe City. Diamond Peak and MT Rose are 20 min away and offers less expensive skiing with specials and family pricing. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing are literally out the back door…and for those adventure enthusiasts, there is a multitude of snowmobiling rentals as close at 2 miles from the house.

For those who just want to decompress, this home is the perfect antidote. The house is designed for comfort, and with over 3100 sq ft of living space, you have ample room for large families or groups of friends to spread out.

As you walk in the front door, you are greeted by 22 ft cathedral ceilings, and a large open long living area. To one side is the kitchen the opens into the dining area. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities for cooking and has a countertop with 3 bar stools. There is lots of counter space and cupboards for your items. The dining room has large mission style table that could seat 12 and overlooks the views off the patio. A slider opens up to the deck with hot tub, BBQ, patio furniture, and panoramic views. The views overlook the meadow and tree lined mountains. You can sit here for hours taking in the sights and smells of the pine trees. The views from the hot tub really adds to the enjoyment of soaking. In the living area is large leather sectional sofa which faces a river rock hearth country stove fireplace, and 50 Smart HD TV. You can sit on the couch, watch TV and wildlife at the same time. The room is lined with windows to take full advantage of the views. Scattered pillows and throws will make you feel at home. Next to the sectional is a full bathroom, pool table and another slider that exits to the hot tub. The kids love the pool table which is located at the other end of the dining area. Adults can socialize at the table, and kids can play pool without bothering each other. Summer or winter, morning or evening, you'll enjoy the peace and solitude from any part of the house.

Off the living area is the Master Bedroom. This room is HUGE. It has the high A frame ceilings and feels like a separate cabin. Besides feeling like you're in a separate cabin, it is quiet and private from the living area. This is a great spot for kids or infants napping yet being close to your activities. There is plenty of room for the King bed, 2 twins, trundle bed, TV, and large bathroom with closet and changing area. The bathroom is also set up with rails and bars for the elders who may need a little help. There is also a private deck for sunning in the morning.

Down the stairs is large laundry room with washer/dryer and exit which can be used as a mud room in wintertime. There are 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on this level. 2 King rooms with views to the forest and haveTV's, 1 King bedroom with childs bed, 1 queen room with TV1 LARGE King room with 2 twin beds and TV/DVD,. Teenagers/kids love this room because of the size and its at another end of the house to make noise and watch their favorite movies. There is extra floor space here for sleeping bags. Because Lake Tahoe's motto is just 'play hard' extra attention has been given to a great bed and a good nights sleep. All the bedding is Hotel Style with memory foam mattress pad, luxury 300 count sheets, 4 down or down alternative pillows, duvet, and bed throw. You'll feel like you're in an upscale hotel.

The open areas and high ceilings enhance the areas to socialize with family or friends, without feeling closed in. The different rooms in the house will allow your group to be together or separate.

There are all the amenities of home and more. Coffee service is provided for your first morning here, and bathrobes are provided in the bedrooms for your use. The furnishings are user friendly with plenty of seating in the living area and patio. Large, wooden beams, triangle shaped windows, and mountain decor throughout the house compliment the 'Tahoe' feeling. The location and amenities of this home makes this a great vacation home year-round.

About Sandy Schrader

Lake Tahoe has been my playground for 20 years. With all the traveling I’ve done, there is nothing compared to the amenities and beauty the Tahoe basin has to offer. I purchased my first home here in 1992 and decided to share it with others when not in use. I now have many 5 and 6 bedrooms homes I offer for your enjoyment. Each have hot tubs, most with pool tables and in locations that allows easy access to the Lake and Ski resorts. They were purchased for vacation rentals and are designed to be user friendly with all the amenities of home. I have a full time staff that includes cleaning, maintenance and will respond within 24 hours for all your needs. Feel free to call me about my other homes, or to just to discuss the perfect ski run on the perfect day.

What makes this house unique

I love where the house is on the Lake. You are right in the middle of the North Shore, with easy access to all of Lake Tahoe. The Lake is 3 miles, casinos, 3.5, Northstar 4, Reno 35 minutes, and South Shore is 40 and FUN to go to in the summertime. Skiing is everywhere. I ski at Alpine and Squaw and to drive there from the house, I go the back way and eliminate all the traffic in Tahoe City. I can get there in 20 min's., and is an easy drive.

The restaurants and shops on the lake speak for themselves. But...Northstar is my new hangout! The Village is beautiful!

There is a big ice-skating rink surrounded by bars, tiki torches and outdoor couches with fire pits. Around this are shops and restaurants and then the ski lifts. It reminds be of Vail. In the summertime the ice becomes roller skating with the same ambiance.

You can't beat the neighborhood here. Walking the trails is a twice daily event. There are maintained by the forest service and easy to follow. You can walk to Agate bay, or even Tahoe City if so inclined. Because the area is just up from the Lake, most of the trails have panoramic views of the Lake.

The house is super comfortable and I love walking out the back door and being in the meadow with tall pines. The smell of the forest permeates the house and its quiet, peaceful, and visually soothing.

Guestbook comments from the manager

This vacation rental far exceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Our large family stayed in the home for a week. We found it not only to be comfortable and meet our needs and then some. To our surprise it surpassed our expectations in every area. The photos do not do it justice. It is even better in person. We will definitely stay here again and would actually consider buying it if we had a smaller family. I love the wood and the decor. I find it very inviting and luxurious. Too bad we had to leave. In addition, the entire experience was more than pleasurable, it was a delight. Kudos to the owner who goes the extra mile to address all concerns and answer any questions with the hiking trails, info on dining, ski resorts, and the best nightlife! With Northstar and Squaw Valley and the king jewel TAHOE of the sierras a short distance away...it is the perfect location, what more could you ask for! We have and will continue to recommend this fine vacation rental to those who want to get away.

Superb!! Beautiful place for ski vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect landing spot for our vacation.Everything about it was spectacular. Location to slopes, beautiful views, and very spacious for our group of 6 couples. Well appointed. Beds very comfortable and family room a big plus for a group our size. The size of the house providing a great mix of common areas large enough to fit us all and private areas when everyone wanted quiet/down time.

We ate around the large dining room table and enjoyed sweet fellowship. The kitchen was very well-stocked, providing everything we needed to make a variety of different meals. The furnishings were nice and comfortable, the house was clean.

Hot tub a treat for after skiing - views to die for. We had zero complaints - everything was perfect!

We certainly will come back and enjoy this most special house in Lake Tahoe

Great and spacious house, beautiful scenery

  • 5 of 5

We were at Sandy's house this month with a large group of friends (8 adults and 7 kids). We had a great time. The house is very comfortable, clean, well-furnished and with plenty of space for all of us. Sandy'a instructions were very clear, and it was easy to communicate with her. The area around is gorgeous , and the view from the deck is amazing. We would definitely recommend this house!

The cabin was perfect for our family reunion! Sandy met us there the first day and invited us to make ourselves at home. The back deck offers a gorgeous backdrop for conversation and grilling.

Great Neighborhood, house needs a overhall

  • 3 of 5

This is a basic house. Great if needing 6 bedrooms but other wise the living space is smaller. Hot tub was very nice. The kitchen works, but needs to be restocked with pots and pans. Overall it worked for our weekend but as we were celebrating 50 years of marriage was hoping it was a little more fancy than it was. Bring extra toilet paper. Hand soap was provided. Parking for at least 4 cars comfortably. There were quite a few repairs that are needed, didn't necessarily take away from the experience but at this price point, you shouldn't have to deal with broken items.

Owner's Response: Thank you for review and comments. The pans have since been replaced and the other small repairs discussed are complete. In the instructions on the house, I advise that enough paper products and soap will be provided to get your stay started. The bathrooms will have 2 rolls per room (8).There is also hand, laundry, dish soap, kleenex, trash bags, paper towels etc. that should last for a few days depending on the size of your group. Summer parking is unlimited, winter can hold up to 6 trucks in driveway. The house is not set up to be fancy. Just very accommodating and comfortable for family’s and groups. I’m glad you had a nice weekend and hope to have you back.

Nice but few problems

  • 3 of 5

House is nice; great location and nice view of the trees. There were a few issues we had: refrigerator didn't get as cold as it should have, stove in the living room wouldn't come on (house stayed nice and warm without it, but I think something is wrong with the stove), oven racks are bent (I think they're from a different oven), didn't have enough toilet paper or trash liners for the 2 nights we were there (16 people), wifi connection is horrible.

We enjoyed the house, but felt like these issues should be mentioned.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and I’m glad you enjoyed the house, location, and the views. This time of year is beautiful with the tree’s changing color. After you departed, we found the blower on the stove had been tampered with. The stove works without it , but a new blower is on order. The oven rack goes with the oven and it was bent. New racks are on order. I provide enough soaps, paper products, trash liners etc to get your stay started which is discussed on the instructions of the house. . The internet and is SBC Global which is the main internet provider in California and usually quite good. I’ve replaced the router and it seems to be working great. I hope you have the opportunity to visit again.

This house is in the middle of the Northshore and has easy access to all Lake Tahoe has to offer. 1.5 miles from the highway, getting around the Tahoe Basin is effortless. The drive around the Lake is breathtaking and you'll enjoy the different little towns that surround the Lake. . The house is in a quiet pocket of homes just up from the Lake at Kings Beach. All the homes here sit on a meadow with tall pine trees, and the roads dead end at the hiking trails. Winter and summer they are used and maintained by the forest service. It borders the Tahoe Rim trail which is a destination for some with endless hiking trails you can access from the house. Brockway Summit is well know for its path to Tahoe City, and Watson Lake is worth hiking too. You can walk in the summertime to our neighborhood park, North National Park. The park encompasses approximately 124 acres of predominantly active recreational activities. An 18 par fitness course, ball fields, Frisbee Golf, playground are just a few options. In the wintertime they offer a nice sledding hill for tubing and snow fun. Within 20 min to all the ski resorts on the North Shore, Northstar in the closest and newest village. The village was modeled after Beaver Creek Colorado...cobblestone sidewalks, copper roofs and a multitude of restaurants and shops that line the 'square'. The square is an ice skating rink in the wintertime and roller skating in summer. The bon fire pits and outdoor bars are always there. Its a wonderful setting to hang out at especially at night. Skiing here is family orientated with lots of ski programs for all ages, and a pristine mountain that keeps a good grasp on good snow conditions. If your staying a week, I highly recommend taking advantage of the other resorts also. A bonus is from the house you can drive the back way to Alpine and Squaw Valley which will eliminate the morning traffic through Tahoe City. Both mountains have tons of excellent skiing, and mountain biking in the summertime. MT Rose is where to go for open terrain, Diamond Peak for kids and an easy day skiing. Both are 15 min to the house. In the summertime, Kings Beach just down the street is a State Park with lifeguard and lake toys to rent. The beach is the highlight with wide sandy beaches, and views you have to experience to appreciate. There are also smaller beaches up and down the strip for reading a book, and dog beaches for your loved ones. Brockway golf course in Kings Beach is a must for those that just want a good time. One of the top 9 hole courses in California, its known for its yardage and views. In the wintertime it becomes a snowmobiling park. Tahoe City is 12 miles away and offers another nice city with shops, restaurants and outdoor venues. The Truckee River is our playground for fishing, river rafting, and bike baths to view all. A nice day is renting your bike in Tahoe City and riding to River Ranch. This is a river front restaurant with large outdoor patio at the entrance to Alpine Meadows. Here is where the river tours end and usually where the rafts have issues. You can spend the day here watching the rafters and enjoying their menu and drink. Between the location , amenities of the house, and your favorite family or friends, you'll have a great home to stay at while getting a true Lake Tahoe experience.
