Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley are minutes away with a short cut that eliminates dealing with traffic in Tahoe City. Diamond Peak and MT Rose are 20 min away and offers less expensive skiing with specials and family pricing. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing are literally out the back door…and for those adventure enthusiasts, there is a multitude of snowmobiling rentals as close at 2 miles from the house.

For those who just want to decompress, this home is the perfect antidote. The house is designed for comfort, and with over 3100 sq ft of living space, you have ample room for large families or groups of friends to spread out.

As you walk in the front door, you are greeted by 22 ft cathedral ceilings, and a large open long living area. To one side is the kitchen the opens into the dining area. The dining room has large mission style table that could seat 12 and overlooks the views off the patio. A slider opens up to the deck with hot tub, BBQ, patio furniture, and panoramic views. The views overlook the meadow and tree lined mountains. You can sit here for hours taking in the sights and smells of the pine trees. The views from the hot tub really adds to the enjoyment of soaking. In the living area is large leather sectional sofa which faces a river rock hearth country stove fireplace, and 50 Smart HD TV. You can sit on the couch, watch TV and wildlife at the same time. The room is lined with windows to take full advantage of the views. Scattered pillows and throws will make you feel at home. Next to the sectional is a full bathroom, pool table and another slider that exits to the hot tub. The kids love the pool table which is located at the other end of the dining area. Adults can socialize at the table, and kids can play pool without bothering each other. Summer or winter, morning or evening, you'll enjoy the peace and solitude from any part of the house.

Off the living area is the Master Bedroom. This room is HUGE. It has the high A frame ceilings and feels like a separate cabin. Besides feeling like you're in a separate cabin, it is quiet and private from the living area. This is a great spot for kids or infants napping yet being close to your activities. There is plenty of room for the King bed, 2 twins, trundle bed, TV, and large bathroom with closet and changing area. The bathroom is also set up with rails and bars for the elders who may need a little help. There is also a private deck for sunning in the morning.

Because Lake Tahoe's motto is just 'play hard' extra attention has been given to a great bed and a good nights sleep. All the bedding is Hotel Style with memory foam mattress pad, luxury 300 count sheets, 4 down or down alternative pillows, duvet, and bed throw. You'll feel like you're in an upscale hotel. All the bedrooms have HD TV's, and views to the meadow.

The open areas and high ceilings enhance the areas to socialize with family or friends, without feeling closed in. The different rooms in the house will allow your group to be together or separate.

There are all the amenities of home and more. Coffee service is provided for your first morning here, and bathrobes are provided in the bedrooms for your use. The furnishings are user friendly with plenty of seating in the living area and patio. Large, wooden beams, triangle shaped windows, and mountain decor throughout the house compliment the 'Tahoe' feeling. The location and amenities of this home makes this a great vacation home year-round.

About Sandy Schrader

Lake Tahoe has been my playground for 20 years. With all the traveling I’ve done, there is nothing compared to the amenities and beauty the Tahoe basin has to offer. I purchased my first home here in 1992 and decided to share it with others when not in use. I now have many 5 and 6 bedrooms homes I offer for your enjoyment. Each have hot tubs, most with pool tables and in locations that allows easy access to the Lake and Ski resorts. They were purchased for vacation rentals and are designed to be user friendly with all the amenities of home. I have a full time staff that includes cleaning, maintenance and will respond within 24 hours for all your needs. Feel free to call me about my other homes, or to just to discuss the perfect ski run on the perfect day.

Sandy Schrader purchased this house in 1997

What makes this house unique

I love where the house is on the Lake. You are right in the middle of the North Shore, with easy access to all of Lake Tahoe. The Lake is 3 miles, casinos, 3.5, Northstar 4, Reno 35 minutes, and South Shore is 40 and FUN to go to in the summertime. Skiing is everywhere. I ski at Alpine and Squaw and to drive there from the house, I go the back way and eliminate all the traffic in Tahoe City. I can get there in 20 min's., and is an easy drive.

The restaurants and shops on the lake speak for themselves. But...Northstar is my new hangout! The Village is beautiful!

There is a big ice-skating rink surrounded by bars, tiki torches and outdoor couches with fire pits. Around this are shops and restaurants and then the ski lifts. It reminds be of Vail. In the summertime the ice becomes roller skating with the same ambiance.

You can't beat the neighborhood here. Walking the trails is a twice daily event. There are maintained by the forest service and easy to follow. You can walk to Agate bay, or even Tahoe City if so inclined. Because the area is just up from the Lake, most of the trails have panoramic views of the Lake.

The house is super comfortable and I love walking out the back door and being in the meadow with tall pines. The smell of the forest permeates the house and its quiet, peaceful, and visually soothing.

Guestbook comments from the manager

This vacation rental far exceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Our large family stayed in the home for a week. We found it not only to be comfortable and meet our needs and then some. To our surprise it surpassed our expectations in every area. The photos do not do it justice. It is even better in person. We will definitely stay here again and would actually consider buying it if we had a smaller family. I love the wood and the decor. I find it very inviting and luxurious. Too bad we had to leave. In addition, the entire experience was more than pleasurable, it was a delight. Kudos to the owner who goes the extra mile to address all concerns and answer any questions with the hiking trails, info on dining, ski resorts, and the best nightlife! With Northstar and Squaw Valley and the king jewel TAHOE of the sierras a short distance away...it is the perfect location, what more could you ask for! We have and will continue to recommend this fine vacation rental to those who want to get away.

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This place was great for our family of 9 adults, 2 teenagers, 3 young boys and a 6 week old baby. 5 bedrooms were downstairs and they stayed very cool. The 6th bedroom was upstairs. It was very large, with its own bathroom and dressing area, plus beds that accommodated 2 adults and 2 teenagers. It may not have been as quiet as the downstairs bedrooms but I heard no complaints. The week we were there was hot for the Tahoe area, so the large outside deck was very welcome, but bring insect repellent. We never did use the hot tub as weather was too warm. The main living area was plenty big enough for some people to be playing games at the large table near kitchen, others to be watching TV and others to be playing pool (the pool table got a lot of use). It was a only a couple of miles to Kings Beach, and everyone enjoyed time there. Catching crawdads by the rocks was a big hit. The water was shallow for a long ways out, and it was warm, which went over big with the younger kids. The kitchen was well supplied, and there were 2 BBQ's on deck. There were no serious hikers in our group, but while walking around the neighborhood we saw access to hiking areas nearby. The house was nicely decorated with a bear theme, and there were plenty of blankets and towels. Also a large laundry room. Very enjoyable week, and I hope we can make it back there again some time.

Our Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Sandy's properties. We stayed a month prior with friends at another one of her near by properties. I would give her a 5 star for customer service since she and her staff addressed every need that we had and went the extra nine yards to ensure our comfort.

Our family of 10 loved our stay at this comfortable home. From the spacious spa, especially after long hikes, to the numerous bedrooms, this house had more than ample space. I can't forget to mention the very nice pool table that got plenty of use. We especially enjoyed the views from the paneled windows in the living area and the large deck overlooking the tree lined landscape. One morning we simply walked down our street and hiked the Tahoe Rim Trail. We all agreed, this was a perfect location for shopping, golfing, hiking, biking, kayaking and just kicking back.

Great Area! This house was hidden in the meadow but the stores nearby were still accessible .

  • 5 of 5

We arrived with a pretty large group not sure how everyone would be accomodated but the cabin had plenty of rooms and beds! We settled right in, the kitchen had plenty of seating and space for us to move around. All pots, pans and other utensils we could need were all there! Which made cooking for such a big group very easy. We had an issue with the shower in the master and I called Sandy, she sent someone right away to look into it it turned out to be no biggie. This cabin was fully stocked with towels and extra blankets although the weekend we went it was pretty hot we didn't use the extra blankets but it was good to know this cabin was prepared for our stay. The cabin is beautiful, the decor was great and not stuffy and there weren't things that I had to watch my toddler all the time to keep her from touching. We will definitely be back to this cabin and will recommend to our friends and family.

2016 Ski Trip

  • 5 of 5

We have an annual ski trip with six couples. We looked for a place to stay that had enough bedrooms and bathrooms for each couple. This place was perfect! Until we arrived, we were not sure how great it would be just from the pictures.

The ski lift and runs are closer than we had thought. The bedrooms and bathrooms were larger than expected, and living area had plenty of room to hang out.

The views from the deck and hot tub are outstanding and so handy to go into town. If you want a comfortable, convenient, deluxe place for your family or group, this is the place. The owners are very easy to work with too.

Very Disappointed!!!

  • 2 of 5

Okay, I've waited awhile to leave this review but feel things needed to be said. Upon arrival the house was ready but we had to shovel to get into the doors. The house itself was great in size and beds. One of the door jams downstairs had been broken so we couldn't close the door. There were some water bottles under several of the beds and the vacuum was totally clogged so we had to take it apart to fix it. Called the owner several time with no reply. The dining carpet was vacuumed but it was very dirty so we wouldn't let the 8 month old crawl around. Once while I was feeding the 8 month old grand baby a man just entered the house (everyone else was on the hills skiing), said he had some linens to put downstairs, made me made and very uncomfortable. Called the owner.....no reply. Another day we were all gone, I came back with the grand baby to put her down for a nap and the house was locked, we left it unlocked, someone had come into the house and then locked it when they left and they have to lock it with a key, who has the right to do that while it's being occupied? So there I was with no key, locked out with a tired baby.....again no reply from the owner. The roofing over the hot tub has dry rot and needs repair. We rent homes every 18 months all over the western USA for our family reunions, are clean honest people who all have businesses of our own and always leave things cleaner than we find them. This owner was a disappointment from the start. I'm glad to see others have had good experiences but we did not and will not return. The house is well stocked and somewhat comfortable but it's the fact someone can just walk in at any time without notice. The owner is just hard to get ahold of and didn't seem to care about our privacy, for the money we spent for our 7 day stay, I'll pay more and stay somewhere else.

Owner's Response: I’m glad the guest felt the house was great in size and beds, comfortable and well stocked. I will take the other issues up with my maintenance crew. I DID return tenants calls both during and after her stay, all which went to the same cell number she called me from. If her voicemail greeting didn’t state her name, “Bates" I may have thought is was a wrong number??? but this was also the same and only number we corresponded with prior to her stay. If service is needed during a tenants stay I will try to notify tenant with a phone call on approximate time when service will be arrive. I don’t remember the purpose of her calls, but I do know Property Management would not have gone to the house at all without a request from either the tenant or myself. And, they would not have just walked in without knocking and announcing thier presence knowing that someone was staying there. There is a lockbox on the front door, and I encourage guests to keep the key in it. Property Management has keys, and probably out of habit, locked the door behind them. I do have a hida-key by the front door. Communication is a big part of my participation and to this day, I don’t understand why she didn’t receive or return any of my voicemails.

This house is in the middle of the Northshore and has easy access to all Lake Tahoe has to offer. 1.5 miles from the highway, getting around the Tahoe Basin is effortless. The drive around the Lake is breathtaking and you'll enjoy the different little towns that surround the Lake. . The house is in a quiet pocket of homes just up from the Lake at Kings Beach. All the homes here sit on a meadow with tall pine trees, and the roads dead end at the hiking trails. Winter and summer they are used and maintained by the forest service. It borders the Tahoe Rim trail which is a destination for some with endless hiking trails you can access from the house. Brockway Summit is well know for its path to Tahoe City, and Watson Lake is worth hiking too. You can walk in the summertime to our neighborhood park, North National Park. The park encompasses approximately 124 acres of predominantly active recreational activities. An 18 par fitness course, ball fields, Frisbee Golf, playground are just a few options. In the wintertime they offer a nice sledding hill for tubing and snow fun. Within 20 min to all the ski resorts on the North Shore, Northstar in the closest and newest village. The village was modeled after Beaver Creek Colorado...cobblestone sidewalks, copper roofs and a multitude of restaurants and shops that line the 'square'. The square is an ice skating rink in the wintertime and roller skating in summer. The bon fire pits and outdoor bars are always there. Its a wonderful setting to hang out at especially at night. Skiing here is family orientated with lots of ski programs for all ages, and a pristine mountain that keeps a good grasp on good snow conditions. If your staying a week, I highly recommend taking advantage of the other resorts also. A bonus is from the house you can drive the back way to Alpine and Squaw Valley which will eliminate the morning traffic through Tahoe City. Both mountains have tons of excellent skiing, and mountain biking in the summertime. MT Rose is where to go for open terrain, Diamond Peak for kids and an easy day skiing. Both are 15 min to the house. In the summertime, Kings Beach just down the street is a State Park with lifeguard and lake toys to rent. The beach is the highlight with wide sandy beaches, and views you have to experience to appreciate. There are also smaller beaches up and down the strip for reading a book, and dog beaches for your loved ones. Brockway golf course in Kings Beach is a must for those that just want a good time. One of the top 9 hole courses in California, its known for its yardage and views. In the wintertime it becomes a snowmobiling park. Tahoe City is 12 miles away and offers another nice city with shops, restaurants and outdoor venues. The Truckee River is our playground for fishing, river rafting, and bike baths to view all. A nice day is renting your bike in Tahoe City and riding to River Ranch. This is a river front restaurant with large outdoor patio at the entrance to Alpine Meadows. Here is where the river tours end and usually where the rafts have issues. You can spend the day here watching the rafters and enjoying their menu and drink. Between the location , amenities of the house, and your favorite family or friends, you'll have a great home to stay at while getting a true Lake Tahoe experience.
