Newly constructed 2 BDR, 2 Bath near Alto Pass on Shawnee Wine Trail
Raised in rural Southern Illinois in a family that loved to camp and fish, I enjoyed the beauty of this region long before attending SIU. In adult life, I've been both a home builder and a woodworker. I also love good wine, good food and meeting people. And that's how the vision for Cave Creek Cabin emerged. The home builder wanted the cabins functional and comfortable. The woodworker wanted the beautiful wood features. But mostly, I wanted a great place for people to gather and relax.

A 5 Star Cabin on the Wine Trail
We stayed at the cabin with another couple. The two separate floors give you the feeling of two cabins in one. The cabin is clean and comfortable with a spacious kitchen. The luxurious towels in the bathrooms are just some of the nice touches you will find there. The location to multiple wineries are within 30 minutes. We even took the one hour drive to go to the Garden of the Gods. Plenty to keep you busy, but cabin is homey enough to just hang out. We would definitely recommend Cave Creek Cabins.
The property was above and beyond what we had expected. Every little detail was thought through! Will definitely be back!
We love hearing our guests are pleased with the quality of our property. We try to provide the comforts of home so our guests will have a relaxing, comfortable stay. We look forward to having you stay with us again. Thanks for the great review.
Beautiful cabin in the woods
We stayed here during family weekend at SIU Carbondale. The campus is about 25ish minutes away. We didn't do any cooking or visit any of the local sites (there's a ton to see and do so hopefully next time). We spent our weekend either on the SIU campus or just sitting in the cabin, on the porch, or at the fire pit. We played cards, watched a little football and had an opportunity to catch up with our college freshman.
At first, I was concerned about not having cell service or wifi with some recent family health issues , but it ended being nice to just disconnect and enjoy the scenery and family members who were there with us. We would definitely stay here again.
Glad to hear you had some great family time this weekend. Yes, Southern Illinois is fairly well known to locals as "Verizon country" and we do know that carrier works fine at the cabin. We would love to have better access to internet and cellular coverage in our rural community. We periodically recheck our options and hopefully will have additional coverage sometime soon. However, you are not the first guest who has told us that being somewhat disconnected turned into an unexpected pleasure. LOL We would love to welcome you back anytime.
Wonderful cabin in the woods
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly, the cabin was lovely and had everything we needed. We will likely stay here again when back in the area.
Love hearing our guests had a great stay that makes them want to visit again! We'll be keeping our cabin clean, well stocked and comfortable so it will be ready to welcome you on your next visit to the Shawnee. Thanks for the nice review!
I would suggest that you have a griddle. We made breakfast 2 mornings and it was difficult with the small skillet.
Thanks for the suggestion. That's a good idea and I will start looking for one soon.
Beautiful cabin in a peaceful setting
The cabin was beautifully furnished and well-stocked. Could have easily stayed a week!
We are glad we could provide you with a comfortable, relaxing stay for your weekend. Nice to hear you loved our artisan crafted wood features. Thank you for the great review and for choosing our property. We welcome you to visit anytime.
On the western side of the Shawnee Wine Trail, we are just outside Alto Pass and close to Bald Knob Cross of Peace. Cave Creek Cabins are located between Pomona Natural Bridge and Trail of Tears State Parks. Close to great hiking at the Little Grand Canyon or good fishing at Cedar Lake. Cedar Lake also has a great hiking trail around the lake with beautiful views, bluffs and a waterfall after the rain. If you are a thrill seeker, there is a great Zip Line Adventure close by in the Shawnee or learn to repel in Giant City State Park. You could go horseback riding or take a pottery class at nearby Alto Pass Clay Works. Enjoy the harvest bounty from our neighbors at the Rendleman Orchard Farm Store, where you can get fresh picked produce (or maybe just some famous apple cider donuts) in season. Did you know there was a Darn Hot Pepper farm and a lavender farm close by? There are also several good golf courses in our region. And in the summer you could take in a Southern Illinois Miners baseball game. On August 21, 2017, join us in Southern Illinois for prime viewing of the total Eclipse. So in addition to the great wineries and growing number of breweries, there are a lot of activities to enjoy in Southernmost Illinois. Come and visit us soon.
