It was beautiful! The place itself and the surroundings were perfect for us. Quiet and serene. We slept very well and enjoyed being in the countryside.

Beautiful and historic property, superbly equipped

  • 5 of 5

We really loved this place! It's a beautiful old building that has been superbly restored and beautifully finished. It is set in countryside, with open views to front and back. While adjacent to the owner's property, it's very private indeed and we saw very little of the owners. Location-wise, it is equidistant from the Normandy beaches, Mont St Michel and La Suisse Normande. The beds were supremely comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped and pretty much every need catered for. The nearest supermarket is a five minute drive away. WiFi was fast enough, but could only be accessed from one corner of the sitting room. At first arrival, we had great difficulty finding the place and were pleased we had a map to help with navigation rather than relying on SatNav alone. It would have been useful to have received a 'welcome pack' via email in advance of our visit. This is a minor criticism though. It's a brilliant place and tremendously good value for money. I cannot recommend it highly enough

Owner's Response: Thank you for your pleasant appreciation, In fact we wanted to preserve this building in its style of the time (16th), with exposed stones and old fireplace, while equipping the cottage with the current comfort. I will think of the future to fill in the "welcome pack". See you soon in Normandy.

Extremely well appointed and relaxing gite Un sejour tres agreable

  • 5 of 5

Surrounded by peaceful countryside with large windows perfect to take in the views, we had a lovely, restful stay. The stylish spacious layout, well equipped kitchen, large (and warm) shower room, comfortable bedroom, very good lighting and warm welcome from Madame Deslandes make this gite one of the best.

Quiet, picturesque and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to visit Normandy but be somewhere quiet and far away from any hustle and bustle. Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 5 nights and we both thought it was fantastic. The house is perfect and is really comfy and clean and would easily accommodate 4 people. Perfect for a relaxing break. The scenery is beautiful and the countryside is so quiet. The national park a 5 minute drive away is a must see! Really enjoyed our stay and Brigitte was very friendly and welcoming. Thanks again. Andrew and Eleanor.

Spacious, peaceful and relaxing cottage in rural Normandy.

  • 4 of 5

The open plan living area is spacious, comfortable, well laid out and appointed to a high standard. The bedrooms are equally comfortable and fairly modern in decor. The bathroom, which houses a sink and a very powerful shower, is spacious. The W.C. is separate.

The area is quiet and rural but within easy reach of shops - convenience store 3km, supermarket 10km - and main road routes, so exploring Normandy is easy. The hosts, Brigitte and Daniel are welcoming and friendly but not intrusive - easy to find if you need something but leave you to get on with your holiday.

Why only four stars? Well, there are a few things that, whilst not criticisms, you might want to be aware of:-

There is a spiral staircase which can prove a bit of a challenge if, like me you have slightly dodgy knees or other mobility problems.

WiFi possible - don't depend on it, the signal keeps dropping as it is not strong enough - this is fine if you want to get away from it all, but frustrating if you want/need to keep in touch with the world.

Despite the details saying that the owners speak French and English, which they do, you are going to get on better if your French speaking skills are better than mine.

It is a wonderful property and a beautiful place to stay with friendly hosts. It is rural but with easy access to major routes for exploring Normandy and yet is quiet and peaceful and we had a great time there. In the spirit of fairness, I have mentioned a few things that might not be to everyone's liking, but if these are not a problem for you I recommend you book up quick.

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My wife, 15 month old daughter and I absolutely loved our stay in Brigitte and Daniel's Gite! The house itself was very spacious, extremely clean, and quite comfortable. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet we found here. The location in the countryside with the beautiful gardens and the surrounding farms and farm animals really helped us to all relax. Brigitte and Daniel were very helpful in their recommendations of local restaurants, markets, and a good time for visiting Mt. St. Michel. Although we were in this nice rural Gite, we had everything we needed (food, gas, restaurants, sites) within a short drive. Overall, I would highly recommend this vacation rental to anyone who is looking to get away, relax, and enjoy themselves in the Normandy region. We couldn't have been happier and if we have the opportunity to return to this region of France again, we would definitely return to the same rental home!!!!!
