Property well kept with access on hawaian surroundings.
I loved this place and world definitely stay here again. We stayed here 5 days. It was in a great location, walking distance of restaurants, shopping and best of all across from the beach. The place had everything we needed. Coffee maker, beach towels, a/c. I loved that it had a pool that my 4 year old could practice swimming in. The front desk was helpful too. I would highly recommend.
We stayed for 9 nights and loved it. The pictures show exactly what you get and the location was perfect. We enjoyed walking to all the close by places and enjoying dinner and drinks. So much to pick from. The place was clean and had everything we needed. Lisa- the owner- was a pleasure to work with. We would recommend this place and can't stress again the how the location was perfect.
We fell in love with Kona Islander Inn - the location is second to none if you want to be in the heart of Kailua Town. You are walking distance to some amazing restaurants and shopping (our favorite was Daylight Mind Coffee Company - amazing breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner - yes we are many meals there!!) But there are many others like Umeke's, Lava Java, and Kamana Kitchen.
The grounds at the Islander are pristine and the Pool/Hot Tub/BBQ area are perfect.
The unit itself is clean and comfortable , great Bed and amazing view! The kitchen is not ideal for major meals (not a big deal to us as we had no intention of cooking on our vacation and mostly ate out). It did have a coffee maker which we used as well as microwave, fridge and utensils. The TV has standard cable but also has HDMI ports so if you have Chromecast or Apple TV, bring it with you to enjoy your media. The unit can use a bit of updating, but like I said it's comfortable and for the price you can't beat it!!
Lisa was also a pleasure to work with and wanted to make sure our stay was a good as possible! I'm sure we'll be back!!
The place was very poorly maintained, and not clean. There was more than one black hair in our shower when we arrived (neither my husband nor I have black hair!). The ceiling tiles in the bathroom were filthy and had been saturated with water from above. The day after we arrived a plumber knocked on the door to ask if the tiles had fallen down yet! Also, there was no sink in the tiny bathroom (only a toilet and shower), meaning that the kitchen sink doubled as a bathroom sink, which to my mind was not acceptable. The air conditioner was very old, noisy and did not cool the unit at all! There was rarely any hot water - lukewarm at best most of the time. This may explain why the dishes (particularly the glasses) in the cupboard were NOT clean when we arrived. It was almost impossible to wash dishes or have a decent shower due to the lack of HOT water. The fridge did not keep anything cold, merely cool. The microwave didn't heat food properly - it appeared to be very old. As to parking - there are 59 parking spaces for 142 units! - which makes it next to impossible to get a parking space within the compound. On the plus side, the location was good. We would NOT stay here again.
Very clean, well maintained comfortable place close to everything. Great to wake up to the view of the ocean across the street and to walk down the street to a choice of coffee shops or restaurants. It's was also nice to have the the option to make your own coffee and snack before going out. I would return again and recommend it to others wanting the same.
