We spent a week here (and in 2 other homes) for a family reunion. What a wonderful home in a beautiful setting! There was pretty much everything you could need in the kitchen and the huge yard and beach were perfect for enjoying the breezes and sunshine! Being so close to the ferry was a great convenience and the house felt like the perfect beach house. Would definitely go back!
We stayed here with 4 adults and one 11 month old baby and it was even better than we hoped for! The communication from the owner was extremely prompt and helpful and they even had baby items available so that we didn't have to pack our own. There was plenty of space for all of us in the house, although we spend most of our time out on the porch enjoying the cool breeze and beautiful views of the ocean and boats passing by.
The location of this house is perfect - separate from busy Anacortes, but very close to the ferry if you need to get anything "in town". It is also walking distance to the tiny Guemes Island General Store/Restaurant which had great food and ice cream!
We hope to stay here again some day!
We spent the weekend here and didn't want to leave. We were in awe of the amazing views during the day and the vibrant stars illuminating the sky at night. The home is gorgeous, well furnished, and extremely clean. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. There’s plenty of room for everyone to spread out. We were able to combine this rental with the one right next door, and accommodated almost 20 people. The kitchen is fully stocked with every item one would need for cooking. Thank you for the use of your beautiful home. We will definitely be back!
Four of us arrived for a quiet few days of playing bridge. The house is perfect. The kitchen is fully equipped, large areas for everyone to spread out and very comfortable beds. The view out the front windows is so interesting with the ferry going back and forth, and all the oil tankers hooking up to the tugboats. We drove around the island and watched the eagles and herons, visited the pottery studio close behind the house, wandered over to Andersons for breakfast and hiked the trail up Guemes Mountain. There's plenty to do and plenty of doing nothing. We'll be back.
We've rented this house for 3 yrs in a row and I'm sorry I haven't written a review til now. Our family has been going to Guemes Island for 30 yrs; we rented a small house on the west side of the island but some yrs ago the owners retired and wanted to live there full time--how inconvenient for us! Even tho our children were growing up and busy, my husband and I loved going for long weekends, etc.
But now our 2 kids are grown and married with a child of their own and we needed a larger place for all of us. We were so lucky to find this one! The house renovation was done with comfort and relaxation in mind; it's really lovely. The owners are accomodating and friendly, very easy to work with. That first year we missed the solitude and sense of isolation of the west side but now really enjoy watching the working boats esp. tugs and the ferry. We love being within walking distance of Andersons where we always have a meal or 2, a great draught beer, and the frequent afternoon latte.
We still miss the west side sunsets but the thoughtfulness of providing comfort for guests has made this house our yearly beach trip and a recommendation to all. Thanks for sharing Jim & Janet!
