Our home away from home for 14 years!

  • 5 of 5

Looking Glass Place is a spacious home that our group has been visiting for the past 14 years! While many homes that accommodate this number of guest have bunk beds or trundles, Looking Glass offers spacious bedrooms with king, queen and double beds. Our group of 12-14 comfortably sleeps, enjoys the back yard and the large kitchen. The home is always clean and Terry is so accommodating.

Great indoor and outside areas for large groups to gather. Spacous bedrooms with comfortabe beds. A lot of things to do outside. Great second story deck which we used quite often.. Nice lake view and hot tub. Secure railing for small children and pets safety. Saw 6 deer in backyard one morning. Owner was extremely helpful and readily available for assistance.

TREASURED FAMILY TIME!!!

  • 4 of 5

We celebrated the holidays with our children and grandchildren, 13 people ages 10 months to 68 years!! The house was perfect for our needs. The fact that each of us had beds, the dining table was large enough to accommodate our meals together, as well as the many games that were played at the table! We had varied "chefs" in the kitchen and it was plenty of room! Everyone enjoyed themselves; as I have shared with close friends, we were all speaking when we arrived, and we were all speaking when we left a week later!! The kids loved the firepit for smores, almost as much as the rest of us enjoyed the fresh air and the warmth the fire provided! The deer were entertaining and we enjoyed checking to see just how many would show up each day!

The owners were quite accommodating and easily accessible for questions. Grocery shopping was convenient, as was the ride into Gruene. We enjoyed a meal at Granny's Home Cooking the 1st night, after that, all meals were prepared in the house, which made for great memories and much laughter!

Thanks to Terry and Gail, this holiday will always be remembered fondly by each of us!

Great for Large Groups!

  • 5 of 5

We hosted my mother-in-law and father-in-law's 50th Wedding Anniversary here. Let me say first, the pictures, while beautiful, really don't do this property justice! We had the full 16 sleeping in the house with several others to visit over the course of our stay. The bedrooms were fantastic, with a great range of accommodations - 1 bed, 2 beds, 1 bed and a pull out sofa, etc... The kitchen was great to work in, lots of pantry space, which was important to us, as we did a lot of cooking at home. The grounds were beautiful and we had many wildlife friends visit: herds of deer- literally just feet away, a young raccoon who scared himself more often than we did, a fox, and a civet cat. The kids in our party were beside themselves at all the wildlife! But the thing I loved best about the property, was the really obvious care that had been taken to accommodate a large party. It wasn't that there were enough beds to hold 16 people...the eating space was arranged and stocked in such a way that 16 people could be together for dinner (the table had 10 chairs, but there were counter stools and bar stools to be pulled over) The living room didn't just hold 16 people, 16+ people could sit comfortably in the room and visit (2 large sofas, a love seat, huge ottoman/stool and numerous arm chairs) The outdoor spaces in particular had multiple seating spaces that could hold 30+ people easily (several tables with plentiful numbers of chairs, deck chairs and love seats around a fire pit, elegant and rustic stone benches, flower beds edged in raised stone walls) It was really designed and crafted with keeping large groups feeling connected. I haven't even mentioned the separate upstairs common room and kitchenette. Really, if you have a large group or even a small group, but would like some space, this house is ideal. You won't be disappointed! Just an aside, my mother-in-law has some special physical needs and uses a scooter to get around. The front entrance won't accommodate a scooter, but a short trip around the back (it slopes up in the back, whereas the front has a step) and entry is easy through the large sliding door. The 1st floor easily allowed her to move around in her scooter - even the kitchen with the slightest maneuvering.

New Year's at Looking Glass Place

  • 5 of 5

Looking Glass House was the perfect place for a family reunion for 10 over New Year's. Everyone loved their private quarters, and the common areas were perfect. The weather didn't cooperate during our time there, but because of all the windows, we didn't feel cooped up at all . The gourmet kitchen was big and accommodated all of us cooks. The great room with it's big tv was perfect to watch all the Bowl games together. Definitely has the 'wow' factor, and the owners were very helpful.

Wonderful Vacay w/ Friends

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented Looking Glass Place over the Labor Day Holiday and we absolutely LOVED it. The house is beautiful and HUGE! We had plenty of space for our 12 person party. Easy and close boat ramp access, great views, and a clean & friendly space. We are already planning our next trip!
