John and I are blessed to get to live on and be the caretakers of such a beautiful place. John's dad and mom first started coming to the area for vacation back in the 60's. They fell in love with the property Circle H Ranch sits on and decided to make it theirs. John started the business Circle H Ranch, Inc. shortly after graduating college and has successfully run an exotic animal breeding operation for over the last 20 years. The lodge was renovated and made available to guests back in the 80's. Over the years thousands of guests have come through and shared our little slice of heaven with us. We hope you too will get to come for a visit soon. Best Wishes, Jen and John

Experience a one of a kind vacation at this exotic animal ranch. The lodge is nestled among the hills and perfect for the ultimate family vacation in the hill country. Why fight the crowds and noise at the river when you can have your very own secluded natural spring-fed pool that keeps a consistent water level year round. If you care to venture out to the river, it's only a 10 minute drive down the road.
Not only are you getting a great house with all the amenities, you also get to experience an exotic vacation right here in Texas. Your kids will love to see and learn about the many different species of exotic hoofstock that we have on the ranch. In addition, we have great hiking and glorious colors on our hills when the seasons change.
"We had a great time during our stay. We want to make reservations for the same time next year." Thanks again, Kristal, Liberty TX, July 2012
Sight unseen, we rented this property for our annual family pilgrimage to the Hill Country, this year with our sons' college roommates from Seattle and Montreal. We were captivated by the beautiful landscape, the large and comfortable lodge, and most of all, the virtual Noah's Ark of free-range hoofstock (with hundreds of photos to prove it). Rugged hiking in the hills, swimming in the picturesque natural pool, and star-gazing around the bonfire pit, all were among the best experiences we've had in 30 years of visiting the Frio Canyon area. Our guests were thrilled with their first experience of Texas - and intend to return for more R&R at Circle H Lodge.
We stayed at the Ranch over Labor Day 2016 for a family reunion. Everything was perfect. The ranch house was large enough to easily sleep the 10 family members and the property was more of a compound. There was room and activities for us all to be together or to venture off and hike, swim, play, or relax in a dozen different areas. Great place for getaway, and you really feel like you got away. Thanks
This property was amazing. A beautiful natural spring creek runs alongside the house and ends in a crystal clear swimming hole. We enjoyed every minute hiking, swimming, and taking in the natural beauty of the ranch. Our children had a wonderful experience they won't soon forget as well. Even the young children enjoyed playing in the ankle deep waters where the creek enters the pool. Thank you to the Harwoods for sharing this unique and beautiful property.
I booked the Circle H Lodge for my group of young urban professionals and it was everything we wanted for a Texan Memorial Day weekend. The ranch is majestically tucked away between sets of steep hills next to Garner State Park, the perfect setting for an escape from the city. We were appreciative of the upkeep of the animal ranch, trails, natural spring pool, the cantina, and of course the lodge itself. We had 10 guests and still had plenty of room for more. The lodge was spacious, extremely clean, well-appointed, and had plenty of room for indoor and outdoor activities and big group dinners. Although it rained for much of the weekend, we still managed to hike one of the steep hills, swim in the natural pool, explore the property, barbecue, and play yard games. Because of the rain, we made good use of the cantina at night. This is a very special property and Jen made the booking and preparation processes flawless; she was amazingly helpful and thoughtful, especially considering the historic flooding this area had to deal with during Memorial Day weekend.
We had a great time and really enjoyed the ranch! I got sick the first day there and wasn't able to enjoy the swimming hole or the river but my family did and we will defintely be back!
A great place to stay for families with school-aged children. We were truly impressed by the beauty and seclusion of the property as well as the warmth and friendliness of the ranch staff and their family. Our children played for hours in the beautiful spring-fed pool and enjoyed feeding the exotic animals. We told stories around the bonfire pit and generally enjoyed the warmth and comfort of the magnificent home. We can't stop telling our friends about the highlight of our Spring break Trip to Texas (better than SeaWorld or the Riverwalk). We look forward to finding another opportunity to return.
