Super home away from home
Great place to get away from the canadian winter. Truly confortable studio to accommodate a single person for a long stay.
I appreciated the kitchen equipment and supplies. Everything I needed and then more. The couch/bed was most confortable. The bathroom is big and I loved the large shower stall.
And the view from the patio or from the inside of the appartment is super.
Already thinking about next year.
Thanks Stephanie for responding so quickly when little problems occured.
Another great stay
We had to vacate our home for a few days and needed something close by, luckily for us Stephanie’s casita was available and the perfect fit. As usual the casita was well stocked with all the necessities, which is greatly appreciated. Although we didn’t require anything from Stephanie she still took the time to check in with us.
We enjoyed a wonderful week long stay at Casita Serena Azul and loved it. The Casita is well appointed with all the amenities which were fully stocked that anyone would need for their stay. We experienced a small issue with the BBQ and Stephanie took care of the problem immediately. She is a great host and we hope we have the opportunity to stay here in the future.
Our week in San Jose was ruined with this place!
I don't usually write reviews, I work directly with the owner/property management (PM) to resolve any issues, and a majority of the time it works. I feel a responsibility to our travelers to notify them of a truly bad experience. And this place fits the bill. The views from the pictures are correct. The surrounding bay is nice, the place is quiet (on the patio.) That is where the good experience ends. We couldn't get inside, for a couple of hours due to a miscommunication with the Property Manager. So a bit of frustration to start.. Note PM: have an email in draft, and send instructions to the guests as soon as you receive payment. We stayed at two other places in the Baja, and had no issues with them, as they sent us access instructions well before arrived. That is your job! Also tell the owner to put house numbers from back street for taxi drivers, guests etc.
When we opened door it was hot and musty inside. We were there in February 2018, so its not extremely hot. We went to open the windows for cross breeze, but due to the alarm contacts on the windows, they only open a few inches. So we turned on the A/C unit. It is around 30 years old, and rumbles like an old tractor. (The condenser unit outside is quieter than the indoor unit.) I called the PM and the service man tried to repair, but it's old and tired and needs to be replaced. (We had to turn up the music to try and drown it out, and it can't keep up to Feb temps.) Then the pull out full size bed, OMG. owners sell sleep as #1 home items. This one was brutal. I suggest throwing it in the vacant lot next door. I champion either the owner or the PM and her husband spend 24 hours in this rental and sleep the night on that couch. Either of you wouldn't pay $20 for it.
So I suggest, throw away the musty area rugs, (and whatever else that smell is coming from), buy a new bed, and forget about the couch, put in a new Air conditioner, and you will have a half decent rental. Otherwise future renters beware. After being in this place, the lies I got from the PM that she was out of town the day the A/C repairman came, I knew she must of had run ins with previous renters, and she knew these issues existed and didn't want to meet us for a face to face. I wouldn't have her manage a dog house, it would go live on the streets and take its chances. There were many other issues with this place, but I have a 3 strikes your off my list policy. So Bye Bye!
This particular couple complained from the moment they arrived and there was nothing I could do to make them happy. I responded to every request they made...they wanted a blender, so I bought them a blender, they didn't have a car to get ice or water, so I bought them ice and water and had it delivered. The windows all open properly, I just checked, but they wanted to run the air conditioning anyway. I wasn't planning on anyone using it that time of year, so hadn't replaced it yet....it has since been replaced. The photos on the listing show exactly how the couch bed works and my other renters have all commented back to me that it is very comfortable. They snuck down to the main house that I also have for rent, and took cushions off the outdoor patio furniture without permission. I have a beautiful casita available for a very low nightly price and am here in Cabo to respond quickly to any requests.
A gem of a casita
We had the good fortune to stay in Casita Serene Azul for a couple of days during Christmas. The casita was spotless and well appointed with all the necessities as indicated in the listing. The views from the deck are spectacular and our host Stephanie is excellent to deal with. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
