A Charming Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time at your place in Napa. It was a charming cottage and the location was wonderful. We were near Downtown which is always a plus!

I would definitely recommend this wonderful retreat to anyone interested in doing something other than a hotel. It was a refeshing change of scenery.

Great location, but not so great house

  • 2 of 5

This was my first time using homeaway, but it is very similar to other apps/websites that I have used before. Unfortunately, I had three problems with this house/hostess. The first problem was all the rules for checkout. This stay was supposed to be relaxing, but we were all constantly worried about abiding by the long list of rules. We had to wake up at 3AM for our flight and it was very stressful! Here are just SOME of her rules: strip all sheets and linens, take all outdoor chair cushions inside (we didn't use any, but someone left them out before us. We had to lug them inside. They were dirty and wet), turn thermostat to 50, start the dishwasher, remove ALL trash, empty fridge and freezer.

The second problem I had was the layout of the house. We were aware that five people would be sharing one bathroom. We were not aware that the majority of the beds are upstairs. Furthermore, there aren't any stairs to get to the second level (attic). You had to either take a very steep and narrow latter OR walk outside in the pitch black with slipper stairs. Definitely not idea.

I think this house should either be listed as a two person house (there is a master downstairs), or it should clearly state that people with disabilities/the elderly will not be able to get upstairs. I'm a perfectly fit 23 year old, but I was terrified to walk down the latter! We got locked out multiple times because we didn't want to use the latter. We would use the outside stairs, but then the backdoor would be locked!

My last problem was the check in issue. I did not receive a welcome email. I texted her around 2:00pm letting her know that I couldn't locate our entry code. She texted back saying "I put it in your welcome email, but I will text it to you in thirty minutes." I scoured my email for the "Welcome Email," but it did not exist. around 4:00pm (our check in time) I reached back out to her because I still hadn't received the code. I called her this time and she let me know that she would text it to me in a few minutes. Around 6:00pm she FINALLY sent me the Welcome Email and the entry code. She was lucky because we were in traffic and didn't arrive until that time, but we were planning to get there around 4. What would we have done? Chilled outside the house??

Like I said in the beginning, it is a great location, but we had too many problems to ever recommend this house.

Fantastic Stay

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for three nights with my wife and another couple and had such a great experience. Soni was very helpful and the house is so close to downtown Napa and nearby to countless Vineyards. Would recommend this place to anyone!

Cute and convenient

  • 3 of 5

The outside spaces at this very cute cottage looked very well put together and well tended. Unfortunately, we were there during mostly rainy chilly days and didn't get to enjoy the gorgeous back yard. There were a lot of great reviews for this place, and I can see how if you are not spending much time here and it is sunny, it's a great place to end your day. The eat in kitchen was well stocked and cozy. The living room was small and the heater, which is the only source of heat, is situated behind the sofa. I was really surprised how dark it was with only a couple of lamps. My real issue was the loft. Perhaps I am not used to this kind of bedroom, but I was downright afraid every time I went up and down, and I am a fit Impossible to take my suit case up, and really made me avoid going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I would imagine other guests have never mentioned this because they used the staircase that goes from the loft, outside, and into the kitchen. Since it was raining a lot and very wet on the uncovered stairwell, this didn't seem like an option.

The loft itself is GREAT! The bedding and mattress are high quality and the room itself is cute, with space heaters that were enough to warm us up. We stayed in another rental days before with the same issue. I think the owners of this property care about the appearance, but I can't see anyone under 10 or over 60 being able to safely go up that ladder.

Property was beautiful. House was just as cute as described

  • 5 of 5

Upstairs does not have a bathroom facilities and the stairs are a bit tricky at night. We are in our Early seventies so that was our issue and might not be an issue for most.

The rest of the house was well furnished and the beds were VERY comfortable. The outside patio and yard were beautiful. We highly recommend this house. The only problem is that it is not handicapped accessible and I don’t remember if it was noted in the rental.
