Awesome stay at Grand Case .

We had a rental car but never used it

We were able to walk to shops ,restaurants, food and liquor stores.

Apartment is beautiful and well equipped.

Beatrice was wonderful met us and made our transition very smooth..

Not so great stay

We arrived on July 11 for 7 nights. The apartment looked like the pictures and the view and location were great. But, the apartment wasn't clean - our white socks were filthy after walking on the tile. The bath towels had holes in them. The a/c unit in the living room dripped water the entire time- we kept a bowl under it so it wouldn't ruin the furniture underneath the unit. The unit did work fine. We had problems with the tv starting with the second day. We stayed on the French side of the island because we do not party or enjoy night life. We eat an early dinner and watch a movie for relaxation. Beatrice came to the apartment and had to delete and install a new program for the tv provider. Then, it happened again and again. After the third time, we had no tv. A serviceman finally came on Sunday and installed a new box which seemed to fix the problem. Another issue we had were the beach chairs - absolutely horrible. They were metal lounge chairs with plastic weaving - they were completely rusted and there were holes all in the plastic - kind of embarrassing to carry to the beach. I wish I could attach a picture of these chairs - unbelievable. These chairs should have never been in the apartment. In fact, they weren't when we arrived - Beatrice found them outside and brought them in. We laid on the beach on towels but the wind was blowing sand into our faces so that didn't work. We finally took the rotted chairs to the beach on Sunday and covered them in towels- didn't take long for my chair to break because of the rust and the webbing completely tore away from the frame - down I went - miracle I didn't get hurt. I showed the chairs to Beatrice and all she had to say was that prior renters had used them in the water and caused the rust and plastic chairs cannot be purchased on the island - there were plastic chairs everywhere up and down the beach - somebody is finding plastic chairs. If chairs weren't available, that needed to be taken off the listing. Sitting on the beach and reading is something we love to do. That wasn't happening with those chairs. One beach umbrella needed to be thrown away - it was in as bad shape as the chairs. There were 3 keys and a fob for the unit - keys were rusted and hard to use. The elevator is still broken. The gate to the upper parking area did not close. I think the problem is that the owner doesn't want to spend any money on the unit and it shows. We will not return unless major improvements are made.

Owner's Response: Dear Kathy, I'm really sorry you had such of bad experience here. There are some points I don't agree about. Especially where cleaning is concerned: we have a company that comes to clean up before each new arrival. But considering your comment, I required them to do a more complete cleaning of the apartment and I will personally verify it afterwards. Concerning the air conditioning leak : the AC man couldn’t make it before your arrival that’s why I proposed to have him come. You said not to send him because it stopped leaking when you closed the doors. In all cases, he came the same day you left, so we don’t have that issue anymore. For the beach chairs, it’s not impossible to find plastic beach chairs however it is difficult because we need to find some that are not too heavy to transport and that don’t take too much space. Unfoldable beach chairs as you saw on the beach are not the ideal when you are not on the ground floor. However given your bad experience, we purchased new plastic lounge chairs. The beach umbrella was changed in March or April month. For the keys, I wasn't aware of your difficulties to use them as we never got any negative returns about them. I would have greatly appreciated you telling me about that problem up front. At least that problem would have been solved quickly. The gate and the elevator, belong to the co-property as such we cannot repair them personally. Just so you may know July and August are the months they use for maintenance. They cannot do it in high season. For the TV: The technician changed the box as soon as he got the new one. The problem was general for all local Roku users. We do improvements and try to keep things in order but sometimes unexpected things happen. I am sorry all this happened while you were here. In all cases, we took your comments into consideration and are working so our future clients won’t experience the same. The owners and I are deeply sorry for that situation. Please accept our apologies.

Did not have the best experience

First, the location is perfect if you want to stay in the Grand Case area as it's a very short walk to the infamous French restaurants and boutiques. It's right on the beautiful Grand Case beach and you have an amazing view.

List of our complaints:

Cleanliness: I call this place a Mona Lisa, it has very fancy appliances and nice furnishings but it needs more care with the cleanliness, far away it looks great but up close you can see the wear and tear and stains in crevices, we just didn't feel like it was clean compared to many properties we have stayed in, the towels are old and very worn down, I believe they may air dry them because they are so rough and hard, we always wore slippers and socks because our feet would turn black when we did not, I had to throw away their cleaning rags underneath the sink because it made the room smell moldy, their sheets and blankets need better cleaning as well

2) they don't provide garbage bags, and we were lucky to find an extra toilet paper roll cause we were told we would have to buy our own

3) we left for Anguilla for a couple days and the room got broken into, luckily I had some of our valuables in the provided safe, but my iPad and expensive Bose headphones along with my backpack got stolen, which is the worse that can happen on a vacation, Beatrice did not really say much but she did mention it was the first time it happened and just to report it, but it was late already and we were leaving the next morning

Now of course it's not totally their fault the place got broken into and we are part to blame because we left the back door open, the place seemed pretty secure with a code to get in and it was located on the 2nd floor, so someone climbed to the balcony to get into the property and they knew we were gone so I'm guessing we were being watched.

We wish someone told us if we leave to close the shutters and teach us how to.

It's unfortunate this happened to us and we do take responsibility for not locking the back door.

So in a nutshell, perfect location, beautiful views but cleanliness and maintenance needs work and it's not as safe as it seems. Sorry to leave a bad review, I hate leaving bad reviews.

All you can dream about

The location is just right, next to a fine dining and small French boutiques. The view is exceptional , apartment is everything you wish to have: one private bedroom, big sofa bed in the living room . We stayed with 2 grownup kids and it was the best from all our previous accommodations . The French bakery was 2 min walk, pharmacy and convinience store. Beach is right below, safe and well maintained building, with private access, underground garage and security code to get in. In 15 min you can be in Marigot where Sat and Wednesday they have fresh fish market . Beatrice met us in frontof the door, very pleasant . Thanks Beatrice, we will defiantly return next year .

Great Property!

We stayed at Blue Marine in November of 2016 for a short anniversary trip. The property is beautiful and in a wonderful location. We walked to dinner each night, sometimes on the road and sometimes on the beach. The property is clean and adequately stocked. We were met promptly and everything (including the elevator) worked perfectly. The parking all over the island is quite tight, so rent the smallest car that will accommodate your party. We had a great vacation and highly recommend this property.
