We had a wonderful vacation at Lac Chantal! There is so much space on the property. We loved spending time on the deck and fishing off of the dock and from the boat. Our dog was welcome and had a great stay too! The lake is pristine and the privacy is amazing. You have the whole lake to yourself! We enjoyed swimming from the dock and also spending time at the beach. You can access it either by boat or a short walk - both only 5 minutes! The beach had great sand for our 3 year old daughter to build sand castles and the water had a shallow entry for her to easily wade in. There were also plenty of beach toys at the house for her to use. We also swam in the pool a few times. With a small child, it was great having both the pool and the lake as options. Robert the caretaker was very friendly and helpful. He was there to greet us on the first day and gave us a tour. On one occasion we called him when we noticed a bees nest and he was there within 5 minutes to take care of it. Although the property is extremely private it is very convenient to a large grocery store which was great for us. We also took day trips to Parc Omega and Montreal. Both were very easy to get to. The owners were very responsive when we had questions leading up to the trip and checked in on us via email after we arrived. The only thing I would have changed is that we didn't bring our kayak with us and I wish we had. It would have been the perfect addition to the stay. I would definitely recommend this hidden gem and hope to go back next summer with my family!
The best part of this property is that you are on a 100% private lake. This is the only cottage on the lake, and the only way to access the lake. Also, plenty of room in the two chalets. We had 12 people (7 adults, 5 kids), and all had plenty of room to spread out. We even had a couple of additional family members spend a night, still with plenty of space. The caretaker, Robert, is friendly and informative. He showed us some ATV trails through the woods, and was available to answer all of our questions. The cottages were apparently built in the 70s, but the owners have clearly made some updates. Great swimming and fishing (perch and bass). We had children ranging from 2 to 12, and all had plenty to do. My 12 year old nephew probably caught 50+ fish out of the lake. The property was clean when we arrived. Overall, a great location, and enjoyable stay.
We enjoyed our stay. Location can't be beat. Cottages have some quirky things but makes it more interesting. Caretaker is friendly. We spent most of our time on the deck but lots of stuff to do for everyone. We rented SUP for kids and they enjoyed paddling around the lake. We would come back again. Brent and Dianna were very helpful. Price is worth the location. Didn't give 5 stars as some of the beds seem more like doubles not queens, so we will just bring some air mattresses next time. Would be nice not to review the place to keep it a secret but had such a great time feel like others should enjoy the experience as well.
Straight from the heart: my wife and I rented this cottage completely on a whim 5 years ago...The first thing that struck us is how polite, kind and professional Brent and Dianna were when responding to our inquiries....But the real magic really started when we showed up.
Where to start ?
First off: you are on this 100% private lake...so you literally feel like you are alone in the World ! ...however you are less than a 10 minute car ride from any store or service...ANY !! Plus you are 1 hour from Montreal or Ottawa....incredible.
Secondly: The lake is pristine, no weeds....Amazing swimming and fishing. The kids can swim or paddle boat from the dock to a small sandy beach that they loved !! It was there own World !
The huge deck ( and I mean huge ) is where we spend every waking hour during the day...Sun areas for the sunbathers and nice shade to cool off. Play some tunes, laugh, sing , play.....ENJOY !!
The cottages, connected by an underground tunnel are so unique and spacious that we are regularly 2-3 families with plenty of room and lots of "discovering/hide and seek" for the kids. There is an inground pool there but quite honestly, the lake is so spectacular that we have used it perhaps 4 times in 5 years !
And finally, after spending some quality time there with friends and family, this property has become one the most cherished places in our hearts. We have seen our kids grow up there and have too many incredible memories and laughs with our close friends to count...It is now almost impossible to imagine our summers without our annual stay there....We are back in 2015 and cannot wait. Brent and Dianna, you are like family to us now !
I stayed at this property for 3 nights with 11 of my friends and it more than met our expectations. Not only is the property completely unique (indoor fountain, that tunnel between the two chalets), but the lake and surrounding forest, with deers, beavers, birds of prey, is downright breathtaking. It's hard to believe that you are actually quite close to civilization. It is the perfect mix between comfort and contact with nature. We had a lot of fun hiking around the property, enjoying the lake and relaxing. My only regret was not to have rented this property for a longer period of time.
We spent a great vacation here given the fantastic, private location and a real "get away from it all' feel. The owners were really helpful and accomodating and did try to address our issues as best they could. However, the pool wasn't available, the washing machines were not functioning properly (which meant that on arrival our linen was not at its best nor all of it ready) and the vacuum cleaner being used was only fit for the garbage. This did not help the ant intrusion! The house has amazing potential and the lake is spectacular (although the pedalo boat didn't work!) but is very "tired" - in need of updating overall, as such would make it a superb location.
