This great one bedroom flat is located on the second floor (no elevator) of a beautiful period building in Trastevere and offers well-proportioned living space with fresh modern décor. The original character has been preserved in the finish with the cotto tiles and the beam ceiling. It comprises a cosy living room with fireplace, dining area and sofa bed for two, small but fully equipped kitchen, double bedroom with fitted wardrobe and bathroom with shower. The amenities of the lively Piazza Trilussa are on the doorstep but the apartment is quiet because the windows face a quiet back road. Conncetions: easy and fast connection from Fiumicino airport by taking the train to Stazione Trastevere (8 Euro), then tram number 8 (1 Euro) from where you only have 1 minute walk to the apartment.
Otherwise, the taxi from the airport costs 40 Euro for each car to the center of Rome. The price is fixed, no matter how many persons and how many pieces of luggage.
Thanks for this unforgettable holiday. Apartment very close to shopping areas and to the centre. Air conditioned and very comfortable bed.
The location is wonderful. I love Trastevere and we were right in the middle of it! Great place to walk to all the sights of Rome. Taxi stand nearby.
Massimo, who met us and showed us the apartment was very helpful and super nice.
The air conditioning and the wifi worked well.
There were lots of ants in the kitchen in spite of the fact that we did not bring food into the apartment, or do any cooking.
There were some tiny flying biting insects in the apartment. We used the air conditioning, so never opened the windows. It was pretty bad. my eight year old daughter and I had to cover our heads with the sheets to not get bitten while we slept : (
The day we arrived, when Massimo was showing us the apartment, one of the gigantic closet doors in the bedroom came off of its runner. It had to stay leaning on the wall the entire time we were there, making it pretty impossible to use the closet without climbing over the bed. Massimo told us someone would come to fix it. And someone did come while we were sleeping, I went to the door and told the person we were sleeping and he said he would come back. No one ever came back.
Another day there was a pretty significant leak near the entry to the kitchen. Water was running from the ceiling down the wall and onto the floor. I called Massimo and he told us not to worry, that this is an old building and it happens from time to time because of the bathroom in the apartment above... he asked me if I could put something down on the floor.... there was nothing to use............ because you are only given ONE TOWEL PER PERSON FOR A WEEK! and a small hand towel as well. This is really not acceptable for a week : (
The leak stopped eventually as Massimo said it would.
Lastly, the bathroom smells of urine. It smelled of urine the entire time. It was just me and my daughter and we don't usually experience this.... Apparently it smells of urine because it is an old building. It was very unpleasant. Massimo told us the toilet was sensitive and needed copious flushing. We flushed copiously. No difference.
I understand that this is a very old building. But the apartment needs a good bit of work. I agree with a previous reviewer, that with a few fixes to the plumbing, and dealing with the insects, and a paint job it could be very nice - 4 stars. But as it is now, it is not someplace I would return to, and am sad that it was so uncomfortable for my daughter.
I would highly recommend this apt to anyone! Right in the heart of Trastevere and hop, skip and jump to all of
The sights. Put on your walking shoes and enjoy Rime to the fullest!
Overall this is about a two-to-three star place. It has potential but is a bit worn. A fresh coat of paint and some other minor repairs could really do wonders for this place.
- Location. 5 stars. If there was a rating higher than five stars, I would give it. The apartment is perfectly located in the center of Trastevere. Nightlife is awesome. Right below the apartment is a host of restaurants, cafes, and other eateries. A two minute walk to the foot-bridge across the Tiber to downtown Rome. The furthest tourist site was about a 25 minute walk, which is the way to go in Rome. Walk everywhere so you can take in the sights and stumble upon great little discoveries as you make your way through the maze that is Rome.
- Emanuele was our contact and was timely in meeting us and provided some good tips.
- The apartment is older and had ants. I killed dozens while we were there. Not that ants are a huge problem, but when you pay for a rental/hotel/etc., you don't expect this problem. They were mostly contained to the bathroom and kitchen areas although I did spot a couple in the bedroom as well. The owners did refund the cleaning deposit because of this problem.
If they invested in rehabbing the place a bit and took care of the ants, this would be a four star place. I would really call it more of a two-star place (one-star because of the ants), but the location made up for it.
Would I stay again? If i were in college with a bunch of guys, sure. I wouldn't bring my wife or family back to this place though unless it was rehabbed and there was a guarantee against pests.
My friend and I stayed in this apartment for a long weekend recently. It is absolutely a great location if you want to be in the heart of Trastevere..a few minutes from Ponte Sisto and abundant restaurants and bars practically at your doorstep. That said, there are things to beware of. Even though we had communicated with the manager that we would arrive in the morning, shortly before 11, and there had been no indication that was an issue, when we got there no one was there to meet us and, when we finally gained access to the apartment, it had not been cleaned. Throughout our stay there were ants in the kitchen and the bathroom. The kitchen is absolutely tiny..don't plan on preparing anything other than breakfast there. The sofa bed is something of a challenge to fold and unfold...took two people each time we did it. We were given only one set of keys, which was a minor inconvenience. Although we had paid for the rental in advance, the bill that was calculated and presented upon arrival showed a 60 euro balance. This was cleared up quickly but made me wonder. We also had to pay a large cash deposit upon check in despite pre-paying. This wasn't a surprise but I couldn't quite understand the point.
While Rome seduces with its extraordinary monuments, Trastevere captures the traveler's heart. It is the most authentic and characteristic District within the Historic Center, the perfect place to glimpse the old world while enjoying the lifestyle of today's Romans. Often described as Bohemian, Trastevere maintains its character thanks to the old, narrow, winding, cobblestone streets. Homes decorated with flower boxes and clinging ivy interlace with coffee bars, restaurants, and one-of-a-kind boutiques.
The apartment is located a few meters away from Piazza Trilussa and the amazing Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere. Thanks to its strategic location, you can reach within walking distance many astonishing places such as Campo de Fiori, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Imperial Forum, the Coliseum and Spanish Steps. Following the river Tiber for 10 minutes you may reach the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. Passing through this magical place, senses are pleasantly awakened with every step.
