We moved to Maine in 1997 from Seattle. We own a coffee shop/bakery in Southwest Harbor by the name of Milagro Coffee & Espresso.
Shawn Robinette purchased this cottage in 1998
The Acadia area of Maine is one of the prettiest areas in the country. Once you get here you will know immediately why we decided to settle here.
Staying at our unique beach cottage is like living on a houseboat but without the rocking motion. The cottage is built right on the beach. In fact at high tide the water comes all the way up to the seawall. Looking out across the bay is so peaceful and calming. The majority of our bookings at this cottage are from repeat customers.
Thanks for letting us stay here again. This is the most relaxing spot we have found. We can't wait to come back next year!
The property is as described. It is a great base for exploring Acadia. We also spent a whole day just enjoying the amenities of the property and chilling out by the beach. There is a bald eagle which patrols the beach and we saw a seal. Perrys lobster shack is a short walk away and is byo. We really enjoyed our stay, which was one of the most enjoyable accommodations of our three week holiday in USA. Shawn was prompt in responding to questions. When we arrived it was a nice touch to be left bagels, cream cheese and cinnamon rolls, from his bakery.
My family had a very nice time at Watermark. The location is incredible as you are literally on the ocean and next to Perry's Lobster Shack and close to Acadia and Blue Hill and surrounding towns. The home itself was very nice and clean and had everything we needed for our stay (washer / dryer, internet, full kitchen, etc.) and the owners were incredibly responsive. The washer didn't work and they had a repair man out within 48 hours. The one drawback - which we knew going on - was that the house was a little child un-friendly. We have a 5 1/2 year old and a 3 year old and there are some hazardous aspects of the house, such as the spiral staircase and back patio and stairs leading down to the beach. If you have little ones the house just requires a little extra supervision but the house is well worth it! My wife and I are already talking about renting the place again next year.
It is rare that the expectation of a vacation and the reality of the vacation align perfectly but that is precisely what happened for our week at the Watermark cottage in Surry. We had expected cool weather, a scenic and comfortable home base, amazing day trips, excellent seafood options, some wildlife and marine life viewing, and peaceful tranquility. Well put a check plus beside each of the above. What we didn't expect were warm welcome salutations with fresh muffins (with fresh Maine blueberries), beautifully maintained gardens, an exceptionally clean cottage, and the heavenly views of Maine's beauty right from the terrace. The owners were easily accessible via text/email answering every question we had. A big bonus was the sightings directly from the cottage - harbor seals, loons, dolphins and Eagles...one landed 30 feet from me while beach combing. The proximity to Acadia was ideal as we wanted to hike a few days there. The best seafood we had all week was in short walking distance at Perry's Lobster shack - great service and excellent, fresh seafood. When visiting Bar Harbor and a few of the other neighboring towns we both commented to each other that we were thrilled that we chose the Watermark cottage in Surry over the tourist bustle we experienced elsewhere. Mission of relaxation and rejuvenation accomplished!
The house was perfectly situated right on the water with spectacular views of the sun sets. The house was fully equipped. The location was about 45 minutes away from Acadia national Park. This was just close enough to visit, but far enough away to have a peaceful vacation. Thank you Sean we had an amazing time
beautiful cottage with accurate details in the description . A bit tricky getting large luggage in and out of house along with up and down the stairs. Loved the lobster pound walking distance from the cottage!
We were two in the cottage and had a thoroughly relaxing time. The cottage had a view that made you feel like you were on the water. Seeing the tide go in and out was wonderful. Walking down the street to Perry's Lobster Shack was a treat i will also miss. Barbecuing on the patio/seawall was fun too. The cottage was well equipped and we lacked nothing we needed. We definitely intend to come back.
