About Shawn Robinette

We moved to Maine in 1997 from Seattle. We own a coffee shop/bakery in Southwest Harbor by the name of Milagro Coffee & Espresso.

Shawn Robinette purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Shawn Robinette chose Downeast and Acadia

The Acadia area of Maine is one of the prettiest areas in the country. Once you get here you will know immediately why we decided to settle here.

What makes this cottage unique

Staying at our unique beach cottage is like living on a houseboat but without the rocking motion. The cottage is built right on the beach. In fact at high tide the water comes all the way up to the seawall. Looking out across the bay is so peaceful and calming. The majority of our bookings at this cottage are from repeat customers.

Maine as it should be!

  • 5 of 5

It is rare that the expectation of a vacation and the reality of the vacation align perfectly but that is precisely what happened for our week at the Watermark cottage in Surry. We had expected cool weather, a scenic and comfortable home base, amazing day trips, excellent seafood options, some wildlife and marine life viewing, and peaceful tranquility. Well put a check plus beside each of the above. What we didn't expect were warm welcome salutations with fresh muffins (with fresh Maine blueberries), beautifully maintained gardens, an exceptionally clean cottage, and the heavenly views of Maine's beauty right from the terrace. The owners were easily accessible via text/email answering every question we had. A big bonus was the sightings directly from the cottage - harbor seals, loons, dolphins and Eagles...one landed 30 feet from me while beach combing. The proximity to Acadia was ideal as we wanted to hike a few days there. The best seafood we had all week was in short walking distance at Perry's Lobster shack - great service and excellent, fresh seafood. When visiting Bar Harbor and a few of the other neighboring towns we both commented to each other that we were thrilled that we chose the Watermark cottage in Surry over the tourist bustle we experienced elsewhere. Mission of relaxation and rejuvenation accomplished!

Perfect relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfectly situated right on the water with spectacular views of the sun sets. The house was fully equipped. The location was about 45 minutes away from Acadia national Park. This was just close enough to visit, but far enough away to have a peaceful vacation. Thank you Sean we had an amazing time

Business trip to Ellsworth

beautiful cottage with accurate details in the description . A bit tricky getting large luggage in and out of house along with up and down the stairs. Loved the lobster pound walking distance from the cottage!

A Cottage Worth Returning To

  • 5 of 5

We were two in the cottage and had a thoroughly relaxing time. The cottage had a view that made you feel like you were on the water. Seeing the tide go in and out was wonderful. Walking down the street to Perry's Lobster Shack was a treat i will also miss. Barbecuing on the patio/seawall was fun too. The cottage was well equipped and we lacked nothing we needed. We definitely intend to come back.

Absolutely Awesome!!!

  • 5 of 5

We were a little concerned we couldn't find a recent review on this property but when we had a last minute chance to take a vacation & this property was available, we decided to take a chance....

what an incredible waterfront cottage we found! The view, the property itself, the decor, furnishings, the wonderfully comfortable King size bed, the well appointed kitchen, Perry's Lobster Shack (yum! yum!) only 1/8 mile away, a great beach within walking distance, sweet little nearby towns for shopping & site seeing, plus Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park was only 40 minutes away! The owners were very helpful with suggestions & directions and they left us a package of delightful scones & bagels made in their own shop...what could be better then a wonderful vacation in Surry, Maine at this outstanding cottage? The only change we would recommend is we flew in & out of Boston and drove to Surry, the next time we visit, we will fly into Portland.
