My husband and I have had the distinct pleasure of vacationing at the beautiful Shore Acres Inne at Lamoine Beach on several occasions. The ambiance is quaint, comfortable and loaded with charm. It's locaton allows many alternatives for the scenic outdoors. Arcadia National Park is our favorite (hiking, scenic views everywhere) and don't miss popovers at the Jordan Pond Cafe!
CW and Marcia are the "host and hostess with the mostest." They did everything to be sure we were comfortable and helped us plan our days. Shore Acres Inne is a wonderful place to stay for a family or a group of good friends. We highly recommend this very relaxing accommodation that we thouroughly enjoyed. Hope to return soon!
My husband and I had fun while staying at Shore Acres. In the morning, I poured my coffee and put on my flip flops and walked down the road to Lamoine Beach to wet my toes. My husband enjoyed sitting on the rocking chairs on the front porch, as he planned our hikes. The property is located between Mt. Desert and Schoodig. The Schoodig peninsula was beautiful, hiking up the east trail was a lovely way to spend an afternoon....not as high up as Cadillac Mtn. but, still a nice little hike. We like to cook. So, having the kitchen well stocked was really nice. If I were to do it again, I would cook every night. The house has many nice places to sit and eat. We had breakfast on the side porch, dinner in the dining room, and ate snacks in the great room. There is no television. But, we bought some old Clint Eastwood and Eliz. Taylor movies at the little market up the road. The house has 4 nice size bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Overall, I would say you can stay closer to Bar Harbor and have a tiny bedroom and small bath (eating at restaurants for all your meals) or stay in a much larger house and drive just a little. I would choose the latter. Bar Harbor was crawling with people, finding a parking space was sort of like winning the lottery. But, the whale watching tour was located there so there were times going to Bar Harbor was unavoidable. The Hemingways are very nice people too. We will be back.
CW and Marcia thank you so much for allowing our family to enjoy your home. The house reminded me so much of my grandfather's I felt immediately at home! The sun porches were so inviting and the rockers on the front porch gave us much enjoyment. There was plenty of room for our family of 7 adults and 2 small children. I loved that all of us could sit around the dining table for our meals. There was plenty of hot water when needed. It was a very warm week for Maine and the home had no air conditioners but we found the box fans were able to draw in the cooler night air to make us all comfortable. As with any older home this house has some quirks to it like a loose floor board in the living room that made us laugh when my son-in-law was never able to avoid it. I speak for my whole family when I say all had a wonderful stay and would gladly rent this home again. Thank you for sharing info on the little pond near by to swim in. Our 4 year old grandchild loved it! You folks and your grandson were wonderful hosts! I would definitely recommend this home to anyone wishing to enjoy Bar Harbor/Acadia area.
Thank you again and many Blessings,
We had a great time. Our vacation was full of hiking, biking, relaxing, and enjoying our vacation stay. Every night we could walk down to the ocean and walk along the beach. The owners are great people, and were there whenever we had questions. I highly recommend staying at this vacation home.
A fantastic place from a bygone era, a step back in time, charming and cozy, truly made special by the wonderful owners CW and Marcia Hemingway. I have come here twice a year for the last 6 years and it is always a wonderful experience, being able to walk down to Lamoine Beach, spending time in Acadia national park and Bar Harbor that are within 30 minutes from here as well as other places to visit. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fabulous vacation rental, wonderful people and memories that will last a lifetime!
This was our second time staying in this home (the first was 3 years ago), and we absolutely love it! My in-laws live nearby and this home provided the perfect place for us all to gather. We stayed for a week and walked the short distance to the beach several times each day. I saw my very first moon-rise and it was amazing! Each morning you would find us on the large front porch, sitting in our rockers, drinking coffee. We made friends with chipmunks (we don't have them in Florida, so this was a treat!) and red squirrels, alike! The grounds of the home are absolutely beautiful. I can't tell you how many pictures I took of the beautiful flowers, foliage, Adirondack chairs on the lawn, rustic shed, fire-pit, etc. Just the perfect backdrop! Couldn't ask for a better setting. The house, itself, is historic and accommodated a large group of us as the preferred gathering place for fun (Six of us actually stayed there, but many more gathered there). One night had the adults by the fire-pit, roasting marshmallows, and the kids inside playing board games! Everyone was happy! The owner made sure that the house had books, board games, and lawn games to keep everyone occupied. Not once, during the entire week, did anyone feel the need to turn on the television...what a change from life at home! When we needed to contact the owner with any questions, he responded quickly. This is the perfect Maine house and property and you will enjoy it immensely!
