Lake Wabana Lodge with kayaks and PB's included and convenient power boat rental
About Hillary Becchetti
Hillary Becchetti is our daughter and our property manager. She has enjoyed Lake Wabana since we bought the property 12 years ago and spent the first few years camping out lakeside. She now brings her own children here which explains the "kid focus". We (Kim and Jim Harms) are retired grandparents. We love spend time traveling with our children and grandchildren! Renting our home allows us to do that and we are so glad to share this beautiful property on this amazing chain of lakes.
Hillary Becchetti purchased this House in 2005
Why Hillary Becchetti chose Grand Rapids
We choose this property because of the opportunity to actually live in a National Forest on a pristine lake. How often do you get a chance like that?? We love its proximity to Grand Rapids, which has everything we need in terms of shopping, medical care and attractions. We also bought this property because of the special beauty of Lake Wabana. The lake is extraordinarily clear and quiet with great opportunities for fishing and exploration. Most of the Wabana Chain of Lakes is in the National Forest which explains the many miles of pristine shoreline and amazing wildlife. We see eagles, loons and hummingbirds practically everyday. We originally bought the property as bare land and slowly built our dream lake home through the years. We made sure that the cabin would be accessible for us as we got older, so we ensured the first floor and lake access would be handicap accessible.
What makes this House unique
The lake views are stunning throughout the house. Every season is beautiful in the forest. We love the colorful fall and snow covered trees in the winter. Our grandchildren like to swim in the hot tub in cold weather and visit the Judy Garland Museum and Children's Museum. There is wildlife everywhere and this is just an amazing place for a family vacation. Our young grandchildren love coming to visit all year as there is so much for them to do.

Exactly as advertised
Well kept, private, everything you need. Perfect secluded family getaway. Highly recommend!
It was a wonderful visit. My mom, sisters, spouses & myself thoroughly enjoyed it. We spent the week to celebrate my dads life, who had passed away a year ago, Wabana Lake was his favorite place to be.
Awesome Return Visit
We made a return visit to this wonderful family lake home. We were with extended family so eight of us total. The house is absolutely perfect for a large group. There is plenty of room to spread out. Last year we gave my husband's brother the master suite, but this year was our turn. It was a relaxing haven on its own. Everything necessary is there in this home and more. We all love to cook and the kitchen is perfect for several cooks to be there and everything you could need is there. We are a water loving family so the beach area and the water toys provided were such a bonus. It is a perfect place for small children to play in the water and the kayaks, lily pad raft and paddle boards were such fun for our teenagers and adults. If you are not familiar with the lake, Wabana is a crystal clear lake. We have been coming to this lake for years and always love returning.. We were lucky to meet the owners this year and it made it easy to understand why this house feels like home on arrival. We only had a couple of silly questions for Hillary, the property manager, but she responded quickly. This home is a perfect vacation getaway and we hope to be able to schedule a return next summer.
Our family had another wonderful vacation! We all love to cook and this is a great kitchen! Lots of room to play games inside on those rainy days. The kids love the paddle boards, the kayak, the swimming mat, the beach, and the wondering swing! Spent hours enjoying it all. Another amazing vacation.
Very nice place
Enjoyed our stay. Thanks
Great lake home!
Thoughtfully designed, tasteful decor, high end finishes, beautiful beach area, great deck off the dining, and beautiful landscaping above and beyond typical lake home! Yes, we enjoyed the hot tub too... on a cool June night
The Chippewa National forest has numerous activities (check their website for more information). Other nearby attractions include the Mount Itasca ski area, the 120 mile Mesabi snowmobile/bike trail, cross country ski trails, Reif Center for the Performing Arts, The Judy Garland and Children's Museum, Forest History Museum. Grand Rapids hosts many festivals (Tall Timber Days is our family favorite), The First Friday Art Walk and has a Cinema and full service grocery shopping. The Red Willow is an amazing shopping experience in itself. There are many antique stores in the area. We believe that the strawberries grown here are the sweetest in the world and has a few "pick your own" farms during the strawberry harvest season. Many of our guests take day trips to Lake Superior and Superior National Forest. Lake Wabana is just a few miles south-east of the Continental (Laurentian) Divide and is spring-fed. It is a typical example of the North Woods sky-blue waters.
