Spacious, Quiet, Cool oasis in the hot city. :)

  • 5 of 5

Spacious, Quiet, Cool oasis in the hot city. Within walking distance of most historic sites. If not within walking distance, it’s just a quick trip in a cab or on the subway. Our host was very accommodating, and the communication was excellent. It's a great way for a larger party to see Athens in an economical fashion. I would recommend to family and friends.

Thank you

Living like a local

  • 4 of 5

This was the second time we have used VRBO, and the first time overseas – the process is easy and rest assured, safe. Our flat in Athens turned out to be just about perfect for us as it was located less than a 1 mile outside the base of the acropolis and heavy touristy areas, multiple restaurants and marketplaces. We had an absolutely wonderful trip and had no need for taxis while staying at Athens House, we walked and took a couple of tours (with PK Tours) to other historical cities. “Luke,” the father of Zoe, lives upstairs – our sincere thanks to him for his hospitality, stories and walk down to the local bakeries and grocery shop – what a wonderful gentleman!!

A couple of things you may want to know. We thought the price of this flat was very reasonable and slept our family of 5 comfortably. Please note that this is an old home, 1860s, and is located in the heart of a developing art district – the graffiti on the buildings is prevalent all over, but after walking around the neighborhood we felt extremely safe, explored the awesome little cafes and “pubs,” played backgammon on the street, ate slouvaki/kabobs at the street stands and enjoyed the fresh garden market on an adjoining street. There is a pub across the street from Athens House – so be aware per custom, that noise on some evenings can go pretty late into the night. While the beds/linens/couches are comfortable – please be aware that they are older and European “firm.”

Fabulous place, area and owner.

  • 5 of 5

We had an unbelievable great time here. Wonderful neighborhood, great little taverns all around us, a really special one across the street.

Lukas the owner, was great- introduced to the owners of the local places, including one he got to open up early for us!. Wonderful house, great kitchen and showers walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. Only problem we had , was we where there for only 2 nights should have been a lot longer. Thanks you lukas and his son!!!!!

Easily accommodates a large family

  • 5 of 5

We were a little uncertain about booking a rental from all the way across the Atlantic in the USA, but we were pleased with the experience we had in the end. The owner was very responsive by e-mail and phone. Wiring the deposit from our bank was a new experience but ultimately not that difficult. PayPal would be a welcome option.

We travelled with our four children and an older couple (one of our children's teachers and her husband), making a party of eight.

The Athens House was a well-situated base for our explorations of Greece. If you are able-bodied you can walk to the ancient Agora, the Acropolis, or the major squares in a short period of time. The nearby Kerameikos metro station is surrounded by good restaurants in the "Gazi" area, and is a convenient means of travel as well.

We rented the house for almost a week and considered it home, even as we left for a two-day road trip to the Peloponnese. It is the first floor of a family home, the house guidebook informing us the property had been in the family since Athens was a much less populous place in the 1950s.

We found the kitchen well-equipped, and we had plenty of dining and sleeping space. The only difficulty was the sharing of the main bathroom, as we gave our guests the master bedroom with the en-suite - but in our thinking this was just part of the experience, a great lesson for our kids on sharing and on how different people live in different circumstances. The washing machine was a great help, as we deliberately packed lightly and planned on washing during our trip. The things we think would be of interest to potential American renters are the need for care regarding prolonged use of hot water with showers and the need to manage one's expectations regarding mattresses (typically quite firm). These are both things we have experienced in multiple European visits and should not be considered a criticism of this rental.

During our stay the owner was again very responsive to any need for help. We tried to communicate with her primarily by e-mail so as to not interrupt her daily routine, and she always replied in a timely fashion. We would heartily recommend this rental and hope that we were good guests for our gracious host!

Athens house = very solid choice

  • 5 of 5

With our large family (10 persons), we have spent a pleasant four days here in Athens house. Accommodation is very good and solid. All agreements were fulfilled. The communication was great. Arrival late at night was not a problem for Zoe, was waiting for us and we were accommodated without problems. Accommodation includes everything that is announced on the web. Everything worked, bathroom, toilet and complete kitchen totally fine. Extremely enjoyable is a big common room and a spacious backyard. Housing is not a super luxury level - but at a fixed price is a very solid choice.

Housing is at the heart of Athens, what is connected with very big traffic, lots of bars and noise. Even the streets of this house is busy. Music from near bar play noisy until midnight. But the windows of the house are fitted with solid quality modern windows and external blinds. So, the noise was there, but I could get used to it.

The house is close to everywhere - on the subway 500 meters away, 1 km right to the city center. Near house are store, cafes, restaurants. To explore Athens ideal choice. 10 people in the house accommodates very comfortably. We'll stay here long remembered. Thanks

Great House, great price, nice owners, HUGE

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 6 with 4 teens. The house is spacious, lovely and well equipped (including washer/dryer). It seems to have been recently updated and is very well maintained (which was nice because bathroom plumbing can be problematic in Greece). We were very comfortable. The beautiful courtyard was a real bonus! The location is an easy and safe walk to restaurants, Acropolis area, shopping and bus route. It is in an older area that is becoming "gentrified", so it had a very hip vibe. Zoe was very helpful with directions and assistance. We had a great experience and would recommend this home as a very good choice at a very nice price!
