Del & Trena Marsalis
About Del & Trena Marsalis
I'm a modern jazz trombone playing producer who spends time traveling and teaching kids music and musical theatre. I've been on the road since the age of 18, so I know what it's like to be away from home and need comfortable accommodations. Spent time traveling the states, S. America, Europe, Japan, and S. Africa playing with legendary jazz musicians as well as my own groups. Born and raised in New Orleans, I've lived in this house for 25+ years. Watched New Orleans transform both before and after Hurricane K. A saints fan for life...who dat! I've got 2 parents, 5 brothers, 1 wife and 1 daughter, so I treat everyone who stays like family. If you want constant communications, suggestions or referrals, we've got you covered. Or if you just want a place to lay your head, chill and be left alone, it's all good! My wife Trena does the decorating and I am admittedly obsessed with renovating. Just like the brand of jazz I play, I love mixing the old school with the modern. The natural look of wood finish is also a favorite, so just about all of the interior doors in the house are stained and finished, not painted. My keys to life: Love, respect and good old common sense!
Why Del & Trena Marsalis chose Faubourg Delassize
I love living uptown and also renovating properties. You'll immediately feel the love and attention we've given Chateau Carondelet for many years. The 12.5-foot ceilings and 8-foot windows, hardwood floors and arched ceiling trim work are still a marvel to my eyes!
What makes this Apartment unique
Vibe, high ceilings, wood floors, old=fashioned tub, modernized kitchen, cool neighbors, brick fireplaces (though inactive) and wood, wood, wood everywhere!

Great place to stay
Clean and convenient. Great vibe and super close to the Garden District, street car, and perfect, little grocery store. Parking on the street was easy. Loved the high ceilings and kitchen area.
Wonderful house to stay in. We felt like we were a nawlins native.
Charming little one bedroom
Charming historic one bedroom w kitchen was a perfect fit for my husband & me. This is in the Garden District which is a hidden treasure. Only a couple blocks from a streetcar stop which we used often. Also only a block away from Fresh Market.
We appreciated that the Keurig machine was full & ready to use, water in the frig & the bathroom had little extras for emergencies-like a sewing kit!
Diffently would stay again, thanks Del
Beautiful house, great room, awesome location
This property is located in a great spot. We enjoy walking around the city, and the garden district is the place for that. We had meals on Magazine St., at Commander's Palace, and on Freret St., all on foot. We trolleyed into the quarter with ease.
The room and the house were great. The house is really terrific and has restored beautifully. We had easy access to everything, and our room upstairs was very comfortable. Everything worked well, and was as advertised. In fact, you could easily do an extended stay there.
We did not ever meet our host, but we did communicate in advance of our trip on all important information, and Del was very responsive.
I highly recommend this place.
Nice place nice location
Very nice set up.
Beautiful Apt but thin walls
The apartment and the house it was in were beautiful. It was close to parade route. Had lots of trouble with parking. Got 2 tickets and had to walk 6 blocks in dark by myself. Some street parking rules should be provided to guests if that is all you provide. Also very few cooking utensils. Including no spatula, only 2 forks and only 2 coffee cups. Bed was comfy but you can here everything outside and in building. Also the shower is not made for tall people and I love a claw foot but make the shower liner shorter. It bunches so much in the bottom you can barely move in the shower.
Shawn, thanks for the honest review and sorry you had difficulties during your stay. We will certainly address the issues we can--utensils and shower--and sorry not to forewarn you about the Mardi Gras Madness.
