About Martie Wood
We are empty nesters that live in Knoxville and have a Bloodhound named Hank. Scrog is retired and Martie provides 1 to 1 academic therapy to students with dyslexia and related learning issues. Our grown children also live in or near Knoxville. We have celebrated many birthdays, holidays, and gatherings at our lakehouse.
Martie Wood purchased this House in 1989
Why Martie Wood chose Andersonville
We love Norris Lake and have always taken our family there when we have had the chance. We searched for several years for a place on the lake that was fairly level and a short drive from Knoxville, and we found it. We bought it two days after we saw it. That was 29 years ago!
What makes this House unique
We mainly enjoy the peacefulness of being on the cove, that it is so easy to walk down to the lake, and that we are so close to the Marina but not impacted by the noise or crowds there. When people go out of the Marina, they usually go the opposite direction toward the open lake, so our cove remains peaceful. Also, the sunset there is beautiful and most of our excellent neighbors live there year round making it a very safe and friendly place.

Great Cozy vacation home
This is the second time we have stayed here. Clean, nice and cozy home to spend the week. The owner is Amazing and so easy to work with. Easy access to the lake and private dock. Wooded for privacy and it is so quite. A very large deck with grill and furniture and even a porch swing, makes it an ideal place to have your morning coffee and meals. Close to marina for ease of unloading and loading boat. House has everything you need! Close to highway 75 so no tricky twisty roads to worry about and that makes it close to stores and restaurants. Its just a great place!
We were very happy with the “Wood Duck Inn.” The house was clean and very well equipped. The outdoor grill had not been cleaned so we needed to give it a good scrub before using. Loved the location and the lake was beautiful. Would visit again!
Thank you so much for your review, Elizabeth. Also, I appreciate how clean you left the house. I am also glad you mentioned the grill. I am sorry it was not clean and have taken care of that. I checked it myself, and, of course, you had already cleaned it (so Sorry), but I cleaned it even more. I will be more careful to make sure the house cleaners have taken care of it due to you bringing it to our awareness. I hope you can come again soon.
Nice and cozy
Weekend was nice. House was clean . Enjoyed our visit
My family stayed in the Wood Duck Inn while visiting Tennessee for my grandmother's birthday. Loved the house and location. It was great to relax on the huge deck looking out at the water. House was clean and comfortable. Nice sun room for breakfasts and dinners as well! We'd stay again!
We Loved our Spring Stay!
Home is cozy and clean. We like to eat-in for breakfast and dinner and the kitchen was well-supplied for serving meals. We loved the lay-out of the house. One person could be napping or watching television while the rest of the group could be chatting on the deck or in the sunroom. For birdwatchers - the hardwoods out back are full of birds and we enjoyed watching the red-bellied woodpeckers, in particular. Great location for a gathering.
Very nice place
My husband and I stayed for a long weekend in mid October. The home is very clean and the beds are comfortable. Bring EVERYTHING you need for preparing meals as the refrigerator and cupboards are bare other than the pots and pans. The dock was moved due to the water level going down so we couldn't fish from the shore as it was too muddy. The sunroom was our favorite spot along with the covered part of the deck. It is a real nice area and we definitely would return when we can enjoy the lake more. Thank you for sharing this lovely house.
Wakeboarding, and much more
