Super Croatian Villa

  • 5 of 5

Villa Lovor is a lovely Croatian house, private, tranquil and well equipped. Lovely outside areas for relaxing, sunbathing and eating and a perfect pool sheltered by laurel and olive trees. Four good bedrooms (two with their own shower rooms) and plenty of relaxing space elsewhere. A really nice annex room with an open BBQ / fireplace - perfect for grilling local fish for your evening meal. Car is pretty much essential but plenty to do and see in this area of Croatia exactly half way between Split and Dubrovnik. Lots of wonderful local fruit and vegetables on sale from the roadside around the Neretva delta. Ivan next door took us paddle boarding on Bacina lakes five minutes away, well worth it and you can go kiteboarding at Neretva too. Visited Dubrovnik (2 hrs), Split (2 hrs), Mostar (1 1/2 hr) and Kravicé Falls (1 hr) in Bosnia, took the ferry Ploče to Trapanj (1hr) and hired a RIB from Orebić and went waterskiing, swimming round the islands and visited the old town of Korčula - beautiful. One morning of rain but otherwise lovely hot weather around 28-32C for our week. Very attentive owner Danijel who arranged for his parents to meet us late in the evening to show us the villa and Danijel was excellent with communicating over the booking and checking we had all we needed. Must come back here another time!

Wow

  • 5 of 5

We were 6 adults aged 23 to 63 all went WOW! upon seeing this wonderful home. After a horrendous car rental experience with Fleet car hire at Split airport, we arrived at the Villa late. But we were greeted by wonderful people, Dan's parents, Friends, neighbours and pets. They made us feel as if we were family. Such lovely people.

A car is a must and roads are excellent. Places to visit include Split old town, Dubrovnich old town (but we would not go back as it was all touristy, expensive, etc..). Bacina lakes, where you "Paddle surf" with Ivan ( check his website). Lots to explore . Mostar old town in Bosnia and the large waterfall in bosnia also worth visiting.

Food is excellent and people are friendly and helpful. Prices are much cheaper than England

We stayed for two weeks, the location is stunning to say the least and sad to leave.

Danijel's parents even came to bid us farewell, so touching.

A wonderful home for a holiday in Croatia.

  • 5 of 5

What a lucky find for our first visit to Croatia. The house is wonderfully cozy. Nice furnishings, immaculately clean, and a nice homey feel. (not as just a place that gets rented).

Since we have four kids all in the young adult phase of life, the many bedrooms were also very very handy. Plus the two top bedrooms have small kitchens which is great for being able to have some coffee in the morning without going down to the kitchen.

The house also has many places to "get away" which can be nice when you're a large group on a long holiday.

There are a number of restaurants up and down the coast, serving everything from pizza to gourmet dining. Even a fairly demanding foodie should be able to find some suitable cuisine.

There are a number of nice beaches in the area, and they are all easily accessible with a bit of walking (you don't get the scenery without stairs).

One highlight of our trip was Kravice Falls in Bosnia. It's about an hour's drive away, but what great fun to have a swim next to such beautiful waterfalls. We went twice. Great fun.

If you want beautiful surroundings in a nice peaceful location, then Villa Lovor will suit you fine. The owners are very good at communicating and will help make your stay a memorable one. Enjoy.

Wonderful holiday in beautifully renovated house

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic holiday our family (six adults) have just had in this lovely renovated house in an unspoilt part of Croatia.

As other reviews have said the house is all as promised in the description and yet more. It has the feeling of home from home - well it did for us. Four spacious double bedrooms, a lovely open plan living area and wonderful outside spaces, with a very well maintained pool and volleyball/badminton court.

Danijel and family are the most marvellous hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Due to flight delay we arrived very late and we were met at the house late in the dark. Fresh fruit greeted us and home made cakes arrived mid week.

We were given advice and help arranging a speed boat excursion to local islands. Galeb restaurant (very close by car) is a wonderful setting and simple but excellent food. We visited Dubrovnik and Split for a bit of history, both within 2 hours by car. A car is defintely needed.

The pool is not closed off and is deep so perhaps not suitable for young children. But we loved it! There are also a number of stairs and steps as one would expect in such an old property with bedrooms on first and second floors.

All in all a wonderful holiday and ranks up at the very top of our family holidays. Highly recommended.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Villa Lovor is probably the best holiday accommodation my family have ever stayed in. The Stula family are wonderfully hospitable and their beautiful house is equipped with everything you could possibly need. As well as everything listed there are loads of towels, extra bedding, a really well-equipped kitchen as well as everything you need for the barbecue. Eating outside in the evening with the pool lit-up and candles (citronella) everywhere was amazing! There's also a volleyball court and badminton racquets. We'd definitely recommend the restaurant Galeb for beautiful fresh fish and local wine. Trips to the islands are a must, even just for the view of the mainland from the ferry. (You will need a car and preferably sat nav to get the most from this area). Split is an easy drive up the A1 and Dubrovnik a slower, windier but well-worth it drive along the coast. Dubrovnik old town and city walls are an absolute must! We went paddle surfing (the neighbour's business) on the lakes which was really special and also enjoyed the olive oil walk/experience run from Gradac harbour. You can also climb, hike, mountain bike nearby and there are loads of water sports too. In between all the exploring, this place is just perfect for relaxing on the beach or by the pool and catching up on sleep! Great for families or adult groups. We can't recommend Villa Lovor highly enough.

Highly Recommended

Villa is exceptionally well-equipped. 7 people easily accommodated (probably could have coped with 4 couples and looks like they continue to extend and renovate the property). Kitchen appliances, bathrooms, air conditioning, laundry facilities, pool, towels badminton/volleyball court etc. were all used to the max. Located about 15 mins from supermarkets and ferry in Ploce (to get to peninsula and then to other islands). Reasonable drive to Mostar and Dubrovnik (though avoid weekends for latter). Nearby lakes good for swimming andyet quiet. Beaches around Gradac and northwards were busy but easily manageable. Stunning scenery all round. The hosts were exceptionally helpful and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend this property. Struggling to find any negative comments: Due to wet weather in the weeks before our stay, the insect life was a bit of nuisance in the area - bring repellent. Navigating to the property and access from the main road the first time probably requires a sat nav, but once done is easy.
