Lets start with the good points:
Communication with Mary was very good; her response to questions I had both prior to our stay and during the stay itself was very quick and it felt like she really cared about our guest experience...HOWEVER the description of the property online was not accurate. Firstly I felt that there should have been some mention of the bathroom being downstairs at the back of the house which when travelling with a young son (4 years old) made trips to the toilet in the middle of the night an interesting experience. While i appreciate that there is nothing that can be done about the layout of the house itself, I just felt that this was something that should have been mentioned in the description. The stairs were also VERY steep! In addition, the very large window in the back bedroom which my son had asked to stay in did not lock properly and we felt it was EXTREMELY DANGEROUS as he could have easily pulled open the window and fallen out. For obvious reasons I feel this NEEDS addressing ASAP.
The cleanliness of the house also left a lot to be desired. The website stated "high quality bed linens and blankets". Unfortunately it did not mention the hairs we found in nearly all of the sheets and pillows, many of which did not appear to have been washed or changed since the previous guests. There were cobwebs around the ceiling in the kitchen, dirt on top of the freezer, a hole in the base of the bed in the single room, carpet coming up along the length of the landing upstairs, fronts of cupboards left unattached in the sitting room, BROKEN BLINDS in nearly every room and no blind AT ALL in the bathroom or kitchen.
All the clocks were either wrong or broken, there was only one mirror in the bathroom and none in any of the bedrooms, the cupboards under the stairs were FILTHY
