The Bouw Family
About The Bouw Family
The Bouw Family has lived in the Niagara area for over 55 years. Love to travel, enjoy meeting people from all over the world. Our kids are grown yet live close by. We wanted to share our country setting, which is so perfect to relax in yet close to everything is you wish to be active.
The Bouw Family purchased this Cottage in 2005
Why The Bouw Family chose Louth
Why this gem people do ask...... We personally had a health situation where we had to fly to Red Deer to take care of a family member and were lucky enough to find a home to stay in while we took care of our loved one. We saw the opportunity for this building, now our newly renovated cottage, to enable us to do the same for people who happen to have sick ones in our local hospital which is close by. A place to stay, to cook, to relax, to re-coup and self energize.
What makes this Cottage unique
A beautiful seasonal garden to pick fresh vegetables. A quiet patio to enjoy the birds, squirrels and occasional deer. A treed lot to sit in the shade. A little kitchen to relax, cook and enjoy.

We had a fabulous time at the property. The first night we did hear some of the 'bird cannons' that the vineyards use, but it was not as noticeable after, I guess we were used to it and it was more of a 'distant' sound.
Linda was great to deal with and provided us with additional supplies as needed. Her recommendations for dining and visiting were great. We tried a couple of the places and were not disappointed.
Location was great as it was close to Niagara on the Lake and Niagara Falls without the multitude of tourists.
Thanks for a great stay.
It was a pleasure to host you both.
This was a great little cottage in a wonderful rural setting.
Great spot for visiting wine country
The cottage was absolutely perfect for our stay. There was so much to see and do near by. Linda gave us great tips for wineries, dining, and points of interest. The property was quiet and relaxing. We highly recommend a stay at this lovely cottage.
Thank you so much. It was a pleasure hosting all of you. You seem to have so much fun.
We chose to stay at Oak Lane Cottage due to its location; to attend an event at Brock Univ and also to visit wineries in the area. Both worked out great. The property was beautiful, peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed having our meals out on the patio, and used the fire pit one evening. Linda brought a new table top grill, which was also handy. Our only issue was that the air conditioner was very loud - but that was being replaced the day we were leaving. For wineries, we highly recommend 13th Street (very close), Westcott and Domaine Queylus. p.s. Since this is "wine country", a new set of wine glasses would be a nice addition.
It was such a pleasure to host the two of you. We were so happy you were able to enjoy the patio and the new grill I brought over for the weekend. I’ll ask our friends at 13th Street winery which wine glasses they recommend. Cheers until next time!
Cottage was as advertised, clean and well-appointed. Beautiful weather. It is a single cottage on a farm, a few minutes from wine country. Linda was very helpful with suggestions for wineries and other places to visit. Easy access to Niagara Falls via 406, 30 min to Niagara-on-the-Lake. We recommend!
Perfect restful nest, quiet, cozy and perfect location.
The owner was super nice, friendly, very quick to respond, and generous with small attentions. This place was clean, with pure drinking water provided (gallons) an AC unit, a new modern bathroom, with extra fans everywhere, and the gorgeous fireplace. The area has great beautiful parks for long hikes, countless wineries, and some breweries, bakeries, and golf too. Often within 15 mins, 30 minutes at the most, we had an awesome time.
Places to visit
