Our family has always loved Disney and travelling in general. We take the kids with us on our trips and try to mix up the 'adult' stuff with the 'kid' stuff so no one gets too bored. It's amazing how when we go to Disney and its surrounding parks no one is feeling hard done by.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2011
It's a great location - 0.9 miles from Disneyworld. Amenities a block away.
It's right between all the major entertainment areas with a beautiful view of the lake and nightly fireworks. We wanted a place we could go to and have fun at as well as invite friends and family to stay. Also, we wanted a place that had a free shuttle so if someone didn't bring a car that wouldn't be a problem.
Free scheduled shuttle service to the various parks.
Free sunrise view of lake most every morning.
Free balcony view of the Disneyworld fireworks every night.
Best accessibility to all the parks with a lake front!
Free covered parking to keep your car cool.
2 for 1 golf discount 50 feet away.
Starbucks 100 yards away.
The condo was very nice. Everything was clean and tidy (which sadly isn’t as common as you might think nowadays). The furnishings were very nice and comfortable; the kitchen was very well equipped. You can’t beat having that apartment feel, with the kitchen and the second bathroom. It’s a really great space for a family. I could see us being comfortable there for a much longer stay. the condo had a wonderful view of the lake, even in the rain it was beautiful. The location was great, we were very close to convenience stores, Walmart, gas, food, and the parks so did not want for anything while we were there.
Also, front desk were helpful when we got there, they offered directions for us, even looked a place up on map quest for me to make the directions easier.
Overall, between your help beforehand, and the stay itself we would definitely recommend Blue Heron, and would definitely consider staying again ourselves in the future. The whole experience was great. And your attention before we went has a lot to do with that. Fast responses and lots of helpful information took a lot of the research-related stress off of me, which was a BIG plus. I was able to relax a little and just look forward to our trip. So a big Thank You for that.
Overall the condo complex could be great. I preface that with COULD. If they would invest back into the condo and do general maintenance this would be a great place to stay. To make it easier I will list Pros and Cons followed by some additional information.
-24 hour onsite staff
-Washer and Dryer
-Cockroaches galore (had to be moved to a different condo unit because of the number of roaches infesting a 14th floor unit. They were even climbing out of the dishwasher after we ran a load)
-Dirty (Wife and I had to wash our feet to go to bed. We thought the grout was originally black but if you look at the areas without high traffic it is beige. We would leave footprints in the shower because of how dirty the floors are)
-Under construction (no notice was given that there would be construction. We came back one day to find our entire floor taped off because they were painting. We had to pull plastic down just to get into our room. The second condo unit we got had sections where the tile hadn't been finished yet and wasn't even grouted yet.)
-Poor furniture (master mattress has obvious dips where people before have worn into it that you roll into. Couches have hole worn into them and the patio furniture was plain falling apart)
-Bathtub (the jetted bathtub in the master originally looked good until the side wall kept falling off)
-Disrepair (sections of the ceiling "facade" were literally falling down. Not the ceiling itself but the decorative covering was peeling like old paint in foot long sections or larger. Once again, shows a lack of maintenance on the simple things)
-Shuttle (online and other areas state a free shuttle. This only goes to Epcott. It cost 12.50 a person each way for any of the other shuttles and they run on a very limited schedule so hopefully you rent a car)
Overall this receives a 1 not because it couldn't be a good condo, just that it seems no one cares to turn it into a good one or maintain it as one. We will be getting in further contact to try and receive a partial refund because it was by far the lowest part of our Honeymoon. Even after voicing concerns all they wanted to do was get us to leave so they wouldn't have to address the problem. Would not be surprised if the condo was rented back out without addressing any of the pest of maintenance issues.
We had the pleasure of staying for a week in this Orlando condo and it was everything my family could have hoped for. Close to all the parks (in fact we actually utilized the free shuttle multiple days), spacious and well appointed, and very quiet and secure.
We used the kitchen every morning to make breakfast which certainly helped keep the food budget under control.
We did not end up using the pool at all because we spent so much time at the parks, but we saw plenty of other people using it and it looked very nice. We played miniature golf at the course right next door to the condos and had a blast.
All parts of the process (reserving through VRBO, check in, shuttle reservations, check out) were as smooth as could be, and the owner stayed in communication throughout the months leading up to the trip, always willing to answer questions and provide helpful hints for our stay.
We will definitely recommend Blue Heron and this specific condo to our friends and family if they are planning trips to Orlando.
My family and I absolutely LOVED this condo! It was very spacious with a large master bedroom and double bunk beds in the hall for the kids. It also has two bathrooms, both with showers/tub. The kitchen has everything you need and nice size living room. I loved having a washer and dryer to use! The balcony over looks the pool and beautiful lake. You couldn't ask for a better view. The location of this condo is perfect! It's literally 10-15 min to all the major parks and there is tons of shopping and restaurants right outside and down the street. The condo was very clean and the building is safe. You need a key to even use the elevators to get to your condo so not just anyone can enter the property. Plenty of free parking too. The staff was friendly and helpful during check in and check out. David responded quickly to email and was a tremendous help and went above and beyond giving you detailed information about the condo and everything around it. Wonderful experience renting from him! We would highly recommend one of David's condos (he has two here at this location). We will definitely be returning to this condo when we vacation again in Orlando!!
We absolutely loved our stay at this condo. Owner was extremely helpful and everything was exactly like it was said to be only better. We had a great view. Condo is in a very safe building that you have to use a key to get to floors. Plenty of free parking! We loved having a washer and dryer so we didn't have to go to the laundrymat. Lovely kitchen and bathrooms. I would definitely want to stay here again if we go back.
My family has put off taking a Disney vacation until our kids were old enough to remember going. So this was the year when my kids are just shy of 10 & 13 years old, so we looked online and found this gem!!!
Our check in was very easy. The condo was easy to find, even driving from the airport in the dark and rain.
Condo was in Tower 1, 3rd floor and it overlooked the pool and lake. The condo was clean and VERY SPACIOUS! So much more than we imagined! The bunk beds in the hallway were just perfect for the kids. The mattress in the master was comfy and I LOVED that there were two HUGE bathrooms! The kids had one and we had the other! The balcony was great too (and I'm usually too chicken to go out on a balcony).
The kitchen was great. Everything you needed to get started was there too (small dish washing soap, clean sponge, 3 packets of dishwasher detergent and some laundry detergent! The washer/dryer was a greasy bonus too! Right in the hallway!
We arrived the day before Super Bowl Sunday and the condo was so large and comfy that we decided to watch it in the condo instead of going out. What a great time we had!
The condo was very close to all theme parks and easy to navigate to. Right across the parking lot there was a Starbucks, Subway, Dunkin Donuts, Dollar Tree, and a few other stores. Across the highway was a Walgreens and a billion fast food places and restaurants. You almost don't need a vehicle.
We took the shuttle to Magic Kingdom one day. Very easy to book and use, but we opted to drive the remaining days because it was very cold and windy and we just wanted the convenience of leaving whenever we were done.
The pool was gigantic and heated! Unfortunately the hot tub was closed for repair which stinks because it was so cold. But the pool is heated so much that people (my kids too!) were in it in 55 degree weather!
I would go back to this condo again.
