Authentic Alaska - View wildlife from 1300 sq. ft. log home
With our recent marriage, Andrew and I are able to offer my cabin for others to enjoy. We didn't want to give it up for a long-term rental, and we are there when guests are not. I grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Alaska after falling in love with the state while on vacation. Andrew was born in Alaska and returned for good upon retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps. We are among Alaska's biggest fans and enjoy fishing, hiking, boating/wilderness kayaking, and flying, to name just a few.
Tina purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Tina chose Hillside East
When I went looking for a house, I wanted something unique. I found the cabin and was sold on the red doors, massive fireplace, magnificent beams, and natural, sensible profile, not to mention the sweeping view of the city, water, and mountains. The property has the feel of a retreat, with its space, trees, and garden areas, both natural and cultivated.
What makes this Cabin unique
One of my favorite things to do is walk around the property on a windy day and then go inside the cabin, shut the door, and marvel at the absolute silence afforded by the logs. It is a pleasing aesthetic experience to see lamp light or the summer sun on the exposed log walls. My favorite comment, from a friend who had just walked into the cabin for the first time: "This feels like a church."

Great property! You must read the instructions to find the silverware.
Glad you found it, Tina! We had to get a little creative with our unconventional space :)
Great cabin experience
Great little cabin with a remote feel to it.
The only thing I would have the owner change in the listing is the layout of what they call the second bedroom... we expected a regular room this was really a utility room with a bunk bed in it... be honest and open in the listing show pictures of that room so people can make a more informed decision and Also manage their expectations...
Other than that everything was perfect. The owner goes out of their way to make sure your stay is perfect.
Thank you Richard, for your thoughtful suggestion. We will see if we can get a representative photo of this room to share, but in the meantime and as we've always specified, we describe this area as a loft and not a bedroom, and we are clear that the single bunk is in the same room as the washer/dryer. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, and thank you for taking such good care of our unique little cabin!
Second stay, won't be last!
My husband and I have stayed in this property twice now; once in the winter, once in the summer. It is equally enjoyable both seasons. We have great communication with Tina, and we are always very comfortable there. Our dogs are welcomed there and they love it too! It's clean and cozy, great location, great view....you couldn't ask for much more! We'll be back!
An authentic Alaskan Experience!
We wanted to get a true feel of Alaska and we did just that by staying in this cozy, private cabin located on a hillside with amazing views of the city and Cook Inlet. The location we found to be perfect for exploring the Anchorage area and after a day of adventure it was wonderful to come home to chill at this quite and tranquil retreat. Sit back on the covered porch and watch the sunset over the water while surrounded by lovely native trees, bushes, flowers and the occasional wildlife. The owner is very attentive and available should you need anything. THIS was a bucket list experience and I know a big part of it being SO PERFECT was selecting this place to stay!
short stay anchorage
Great place. Really enjoyed the moose and bunny in the front yard. Thank you for everything
Cozy Cabin on a hill
This place was adorable. It was the perfect size for us and the location was fantastic. We never saw a neighbor the entire time we visited. Clean and cozy with beautiful views. Loved it
