Overview

About the property

Apartment with 1 double bed + 1futon, few steps from Coliseum

Casa Iulia Lucretia is a studio apartment located at the ground floor of a historic building of XIV century, just in front of a beautiful view on Augustus Forums (Fori Imperiali) and the huge columns of Temple of Mars the Avenger.

After the entrance hall surrounded by 'sanpietrini' and historic columns you'll arrive to the apartment. At the entrance there is a kitchenette (equipped with everything you may need), then there's the main room with a wardrobe, a dining table, a futon that easily opens becoming an extra bed (70cm x 200cm : 27in x 79in) and a comfy European-Queen size bed (160cm x 200cm : 63in × 79in).

Going few steps up you'll access to the anteroom (with washing machine and shelves where there is the First Aid KIT and my cleaning stuff) and then to the bathroom where you will find a bidet and a relaxing bath-tub with shower.

The house is equipped with microwave, fridge, gas cooker, vacuum cleaner, washing machine, 2 small cloth-lines, iron and ironing board, cutlery, pots, dishes, glasses, towels, bed linens and maybe some small plants that have survived my “black thumb".

For children 0-4 years old I can provide a cot and a high chair, for free charge obviously!

Great place-Great hostess

  • 5 of 5

Loved Julia's apartment. Had everything we needed in a safe and secure place. No air conditioning, but kept cool with fans which were provided. We were close to several of the major sites and tour buses as well as city buses. (Actually, by the third day we realized that most of what we wanted to see was within walking distance.) Julia also provided a map of the local neighborhood which included information as to restaurants, a small market, bank machines, post office , etc.

But the best part about renting from Julia was Julia herself. Upon arrival, we discovered we had no electricity. Julia invited us to refresh ourselves or rest in the apartment, but did state she wouldn't be able to have us stay in the apartment without electricity. She then promised (and I could see a look of panic in her eyes) she would either get the problem solved or she would find us a comparable apartment. It took her several hours, but she was true to her word and we were able to stay at the original property. (Was a problem originating with the utilities dept and nothing to do with the apartment itself.)

---I would stay here again in a heartbeat, but I'd like a nightlight for the stairs to the bathroom. They were tricky in the dark.

Cute apartment in the heart of Rome!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed at this property for four nights while we visited friends in Rome. The apartment was perfect for our stay. When we first arrived Giulia and her father greeted us outside and showed us around the apartment. At the greeting they gave us a map of the city, which had various restaurants, pharmacy's and grocery stores, as well as her personal number in case we needed to contact her at any hour of the day or night!

The apartment had a small kitchen, which allowed us to cook a few meals while we were there, as well as a washing machine upstairs which allowed us to wash a load of laundry!

If you are looking for a place to stay where you want to visit some historical places, this is the place to stay! The Coliseum is a 5 minute walk down the road, and the roman forum is literally across the road ( both a must see!). We were also able to visit the Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps and Pantheon, all within a 20 minute walk. Another pro to staying at this apartment is that it was close to the metro, which can allow to to basically travel to anywhere you want in Rome.

This apartment was perfectly located, which allowed us to go to all the places we wanted to see, plus more! Plus the owners gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for our stay!

Wonderful apartment, even better owners.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently spent a week at this apartment and loved every minute of it. The apartment itself is ideal for 2 people. It's layout is very functional and well appointed. There was even a bottle of wonderful wine waiting for us.

The location is perfect for the major sites within the Roman Forum area. We found that over the course of the week we only used the Metro ( 5 mins away) once and had no problem walking to any of the sights we wanted to see. Granted we enjoy walking. If that's not your interest, the Metro station nearest the Colosseum is only 5 mins away and will get you anywhere you want.

As good as the Apartment was, Mauro and Giulia are even better. They were so friendly and outgoing making our stay even more enjoyable. We used their pickup and drop off at the airport and it was wonderful, and incredibly reasonable.

As there is so much to see in the area for just one week, we will definitely be back. When we do return, this is the only place I would want to stay! Thank you for making this week of our vacation special!

Lovely and Convenient Apartment

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this apartment from Giulia while in Italy for our honeymoon. It was so nice to arrive to such a spacious place after staying in small boutique hotel rooms. The apartment is absolutely adorable. The kitchen is equipped with all you need to make yourself dinner or other meals. We made a pasta dinner for ourselves one night and bought food at the market for easy breakfasts. There is no air conditioning, but they did have a fan in the room and had it running when we arrived. They bathroom had soaps and shampoo and towels. There is also a clothes washer with laundry soap which was nice to be able to use. Giulia was so sweet to work with. She was responsive via text and email. No issues contacting her and she was so accommodating. The only bad thing was that we had no cell reception in the apartment and the wireless stopped connecting to our devices for some reason halfway through our stay. Not a big deal and not the owner's fault. The apartment is close to everything you want to see in Rome and a 10 minute walk or less to the Metro. You can walk out the door and within steps see ancient ruins and in 2 minutes see the Colosseum down the street. Couldn't have asked for a better stay and such a good price. If we come back to Rome, I would love to stay here again.

Italian Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

This place was all that was advertised and more....I highly recommend having them pick you up at the airport, for only 2 euro more than a taxi...It was a wonderful welcome to Rome. The place was clean and perfectly located to seeing all the old ruins in Rome. We also hired them as our driver to Umbria, they act more like family, than inn keepers! They checked in on us and offered site seeing tips, restaurants and help navigating the city. This was our first time using VRBO, and we could not have been happier!!

Perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this apartment from Jan 5, 2014 to Jan 8, 2014 and it could not have been better.

First, when I was looking for a place to stay I inboxed several properties and Giulia was by far the fastest to respond, and in a matter of less than an hour from my initial inquiry everything was set and ready to go.

The perfect initial impression continued throughout our stay as they were extremely fast to respond.

The apartment itself is perfectly located basically within the ancient forum romani with major attractions right at your doorstep. There are also several busstops within 2 minute walking distance to get you around town.

In the apartement, you have everything you need. Very clean, has a comfortable bed and a fully equipped kitchen.

The apartment does not come with a TV, but who needs a TV when visiting Rome and being immersend in ancient sites. However, if you cannot live wihtout your daily newsupdate, there is WIFI which works fast and reliable.

As already mentoined initially, Giulia and Mauro are perfect hosts. We were even greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine.

I would most definitvely stay there again when coming to Rome and recommend that place to everybody.

Casa Iulia Lucretia is in "Rione Monti" (Monti district), the oldest e most central neighborhood in Rome but there is a good balance between romans who live here from generations, students and tourists. At the main little square of the neighborhood (Piazza Madonna dei Monti) the atmosphere is pleasant and perfect for a chit-chat.

So the apartment is really close to Roman Forums, Trajan's Market, Colosseum, Capitol Hill, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc., in few words: main attractions are within walking distance. However nearby there are 2 Metro B line (Colosseo stop & Cavour stop) and many bus stops, so you'll be able to reach even the most remote place of Rome.

The district is full of restaurants, wine bars, artisan shops, etc., but the building is not attached to any of those places, which means your sleep will be peaceful!

The area is safe, President of Italy and Mayor will be your neighbors, then I guess you can walk safe. Anyway Rome is a big city, so if you are alone in the middle of night just don't ask "what time is it?" to sinister shadows in the dark ;)

Thanks the proximity to Termini Station, it is also easy to reach those unmissable places outside Rome such as Villa Adriana, Villa d'Este and Villa Gregoriana in Tivoli or Ercolano and Pompeii.
