Koukla House is all about privacy and peace of mind. Situated in the centre of the island of Paxos in established gardens totally surrounded by stone walls and less than 10mins drive from all of the 3 main villages (Lakka, Loggos & Gaios).
Just a short walk will take you to one of Paxos' stunning sunset tavernas & a little further from here you will find some of Paxos' most amazing walks & cliff top view points to enjoy your very own sunset with a bottle of wine.
Magazia is just 2mins by car (10mins by foot) offering tavernas, mini markets, village bakery & one of the oldest quirkiest Kafenions on the island.
One double bedroom & one twin bedroom (Twin is en suite)
Koukla House is owned by an Italian family so as you would expect there are extensive outdoor al Fresco dining choices & a large spacious terrace which surrounds the large pool.
Stunning views towards the Greek mainland & to the southern tip of Corfu can be enjoyed from the terraces & pool areas.
Koukla House has a very romantic story attached. The owners father from Milan bought Kouklas as a ruin along with his main house next door & restored Kouklas & gave it to his daughter as a wedding present.
Such a peaceful, romantic spot with a great pool. We have been thinking about it all winter.
We had a wonderful time in this gorgeous house in Paxos , with stunning views . Everything was very well communicated before and during our stay, our car hire and ferry tickets were organised for us and we were met from the ferry with our hire car. The house was as described , we loved the outdoor space . We absolutely loved Bens bar , our favourite bar on the island . Cesar and Stuart were both very helpful, and can't rate them highly enough .We will be coming back !
This is the second time we have stayed in Kouklas . We absolutely love the stylish but laid back vibe. The outdoor kitchen ( there is an indoor one too!!) and lovely shady seating around the garden all add to the relaxed ambience.
We hired a car but also walked to Lilas Taverna and the little bar in Magazia. We were well looked after by Stuart .
We would definitely recommend the property. The Flinns
This was our second visit to a heavenly holiday house. Set away hidden in the olive groves is this wonderful house, clean, well maintained and well equipped. The gardens are very spacious with many different seating areas. The outdoor kitchen is great for barbequing etc. The Manager was attentive and welcoming.
We would advise taking a car as the local shops are a good 15mins walk away and very limited in what they sell. (The lady who bakes the bread in the bakery was ill so there was none!) There are a few good tavernas within walking distance. We would thoroughly recommend this property and intend returning ourselves.
We had a lovely time throughout 12 days at this beautiful villa. It was so comfortable and homely and we really felt like we could relax there. The pool was great for having a swim when it got too hot. We loved exploring the island but ended up spending a lot of the time at the villa as it as so nice. Excellent contact with both the owner and the local representative.Thank you, we will come back !
Beautiful house and pool - lots of outside eating areas and the gas fired outside bbq was brilliant for cooking. Lovely views, so quiet and peaceful.
Here are a few tips:
1. There's no longer any left luggage in corfu (we were planning to leave stuff at the port and go off and have lunch and do shopping for the house before the boat) instead at least one of you are stuck at the port waiting for the hydrofoil. So unless your flight times fit perfectly with hydrofoil times I'd definitely recommend the water taxi with Nikos which we did on the way back - it was wonderful service, he had a taxi waiting for us the other side and he even pointed out dolphins en route!
2. definitely hire a car, you need one.
3. I didn't think about it but there are mosquitos in the evenings.
4. we hired a boat from friendly Arthur at Julia boat rentals in loggos (45 euros plus fuel) we went right round the island and round the back on the sheer cliffs you can take it under the overhang and all the nesting swallows fly above you - its like being in a wildlife doc. And Antipaxos was beautiful.
5. The bakery in Magazia is no longer operating (or wasn't when we were there)
6. The Vontza restaurant was absolutely lovely and the food so delicious!
One criticism - before the last day Stuart emailed and kindly said although we had to check out at 10am we could stay by the pool till noon. However on check out morning Matilda (the maid) arrived at 08:45 and starting sweeping outside as we sat there and had breakfast then began cleaning the house as I packed, we left before 10 to get away. It seems appropriate to wait to start cleaning on check out.
That aside the stay was wonderful, people on Paxos were really friendly and adore children. The beaches are varied and perfect for children as there's so much to discover. Thank you Cesare, it was a lovely holiday.
My two daughters and I had the great pleasure of visiting Paxos in July 2014 and our stay at Koukla House was the perfect home from home for us. Koukla House is a beautiful home which is well looked after and we found it very comfortable and clean. We also enjoyed the location as it is perfectly secluded, with lots of lovely outside seating areas. It did not take long before we felt at home and could explore the island. The owner and house manager were most welcoming and helpful. We are planning to return in 2015.
Koukla House is located right in the middle of the island, so its an easy 10mins drive to practically everything. Very nice 30mins walk into Lakka through some of Paxos' most unknown & beautiful hamlets.
Located on the west coast of Paxos just a short walk from Kastanida is the small peaceful hamlet of Manesatika. Situated in one of the best areas of Paxos for walking & sunsets together with one of Paxos' sunset tavernas, you would be hard pushed to find a better area to stay. Stunning views towards Corfu & the Greek mainland right from the terraces of the house & its large swimming pool.
