Clean, close to metro and a helpful host!

  • 5 of 5

We liked the location of the apartment. It was close to the metro, a short walk to the Vatican, and there was a supermarket and several delicious gelaterias close by. It was quiet and we felt like we were in a community. The Italians who lived in the building would smile and say, "Buon giorno."

This apartment was very spacious and comfortable. Our two teenage daughters appreciated the two bathrooms, the nice shower, the large bedroom with twin beds and extra space, and the WIFI! My husband and I liked the 2nd bedroom with the large wardrobe to store our suitcase and hang clothes. We used the washing machine and utilized the balcony for quickly drying clothes. The kitchen was well stocked and had quite a large refrigerator. The dining area opened to the living area which made it feel more spacious.

Max was a very helpful host. We communicated via email and he was quick to answer questions, give directions, and suggestions for restaurants and even great places to watch sunsets :-). He met us at the metro station and walked us to the apartment. We appreciated his thoughtfulness... providing a cell phone to text him questions about anything during our stay (and he responded very quickly), bringing an umbrella since there were rainstorms in the forecast, and stocking the refrigerator with milk, water, and soda for our arrival. Max speaks English very well and was friendly, warm, and easy to talk to. :-) We started our trip in Rome (and it was our first time to Italy), so we greatly appreciated his help and we felt from like we had a friend in Rome.

Thank you, Max, for a wonderful Roman holiday!

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

My daughter (25) and myself stayed here for a week just recently. It was great. Rome was very hot/humid so it was so wonderful to enter a nice and cool apartment. After being picked up at the airport by a private driver that Max arranged,he met us at the apartment. He had the refridge stocked with milk, water, juice, and tea. So very nice! He then gave us a quick tour of the place. It was perfect- fairly big bedrooms with comfortable beds. I let my daughter take the double bed room and I took the twin bedroom. Max then took us around the neighborhood and pointed out where to eat and grocery shop. They charge for plastic bags so use the bags at the apartment..the place is near the Metro so take advantage of it. It is only 24 euros for a week pass. You can use this pass on buses too!. Be careful with taxi's.use only certified taxi's and be sure they cleared the metro before you start your ride. Max had arranged our ride back to the airport, cheaper than a taxi- less stress.Oh even tough we did not cook, there are plenty of spices, sugar, olive oil in the cupboards. This place made our week even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend it. Chris,Denver,CO.

the best host and the best appartment in rome

  • 5 of 5

The appartment was one of the best my husband and I ever stayed in while traveling. Spotless, roomy full of light, it had every amenity you need for a great stay. The location was great, 5 mins to the metro station. We walked everywhere, but took metro home late at night when we couldnt walk anymore. Max was simply wonderful. He met us at the appartment, showed us the neighborhood and left us his cell phone to use if we had any questions. He even had milk, juices, drinks waiting for us in the fridge once we settled in. There were so many condiments, olive oil, vinegars, etc in the cupboards, we didnt have to buy much to make a great breakfast or late supper when we wanted. I would highly recommend this appartment and Max to anyone for a perfect stay in the great neighborhood in Rome. And great big thank you for showing us the best little bakery near the appartment. Delicious!!!!

Excellent stay!

  • 5 of 5

Max was a terrific host - very prompt in responding to email, helpful, met us on time, and his English is excellent. He met us at the Metro the day we arrived, and walked us to the apartment. The apartment was very comfortable and clean, with everything we needed, and there were very good restaurants and a grocery store close by. It was an excellent base for visiting the Vatican, and is only a short walk to the Metro. We highly recommend this rental!

An excellent home base for exploring Rome

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to stay for our family of 2 adults and 4 children. We were there 6 nights. If we find ourselves in Rome again, we'd certainly consider staying here again.

The host:

Max is a wonderful host. So very accommodating and helpful. He met us at the metro, took a moment to show us how to get to the Vatican (within easy walking distance), and walked us to the apartment. He provided a local cell phone with his number programmed in it to get ahold of him at any time, day or night. On the walk to the apartment he pointed out the local ATM, grocery store, and some good local pizzerias, one of which we tried and enjoyed. (You have no excuse for not eating well in Rome. You're surrounded by great options!). He provided some good guidance on visiting the Vatican. Max was willing to respond to any need at any time while we were there. It was raining on the day we checked out. Rather than a wet slog through the streets, Max had thoughtfully arranged for a driver to the airport for us which wasn't much more expensive than the metro plus the train, and much more convenient.

Amenities:

The apartment had everything we needed. Kitchen stocked just right with bottled water cold and ready on arrival, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a washing machine and drying rack on the balcony. It was very clean and well-maintained. Wifi and TV worked great. We had a problem with the hot water during our stay, but Max was willing to drop everything to come and help. The apartment had a copy of the Lonely Planet guide for Rome, which was very useful during our stay.

Location:

The apartment is in a quiet neighborhood a few blocks away from the Cipro Metro station--within walking distance to the Vatican. We didn't have a car while we were in Rome, but between the metro and walking, we got along just fine. Unless you plan to use taxis and buses, do expect to do a lot of walking in the city to get around.

There is a very nice Carrefour grocery store in the neighborhood. The store is a foodies' paradise, with incredible fresh produce, and a huge selection of meats and cheeses, and other foods. Be aware you need to weigh and label produce (using the nearby machine) before taking it to the cash register.

There are plenty of good restaurants and gelaterias in the neighborhood.

Summary:

This is a great home base from which to explore Rome. We had a great visit, made that much more enjoyable by having a great place to rest after wearing ourselves out each day.
