R&R in Maine
We enjoyed our stay, the cabin was everything and more than we expected, clean, lots of room, beautiful view overlooking the pond , Steve and Jeanne were very nice and made sure we were comfortable, checking in on us from time to time. I will be coming back in the summer.
Great spot and ideal for small family or 2 couples.
The property was clean and well maintained and is ideal for getting away and relaxing. The owners were responsive and very accommodating.
If you need/want to GO OFF THE GRID. This is your spot. Otherwise RUN!!
Horrific! Misrepresented. Most stressful 3 days of my life. No internet, No phone service, Tube TV's did not work AT ALL. Ran out of the half a roll of TP on day One. Running water is from the lake, which is not drinkable. The owners provide canisters of what they say is drinkable water. I say, put the canisters on the table and stare at them its the only water your going to see from the cabin. Don't be fooled those lovely pictures of beach chairs on a beach are not at THIS cabin.
THE STAIRS!!! Minimum to get to the "living area" is 14. Either thru the basement or stones built into a hill. I paid the deposit to bring my dog but left him home based on ten stairs alone. There were no boats or canoes accessible via the cabin.....there is no lake accessible AT THE cabin. Looks like there might of been "stuff" at a common area type of place. I had no way to contact my family even after buying both a disposable phone and disposable WIFI (at an added cost of $200.00 +. Ruined my sons 18th birthday. Its been 4 days since I escaped and I am still furious. The owners had WIFI (password protected) they were aware of our concerns but never offered . Owner did offer to use her cell phone to make a call but hers didn't work at the cabin either. THERE IS NO ADDRESS you can "go to" so the owner need to meet you at the end of a street. Thus when hubby was coming up later that evening I HAD TO PARK ON THE SIDE IF THE ROAD AT 1:00am and pray he would make it this far Because, reminder!!!!!!! Phones, Wifi DON'TWORK HERE. I wood have given it one more star if it had a rotary phone.
Thank you for your feedback. This is our first negative review. I will review my site to clarify some of your concerns. The cabin is 100 ft from the lake as was the regulation in Maine for shoreline building at that location. The cabin is called the Tree House cabin since is is set up on a hill in the trees. The kayaks, canoes and paddle boards were indeed for your use and left on racks near the beach for easy access. When my husband went down on Saturday morning to check and spoke to you and your husband, he thought you were all settled in.
You had sent an email 2 hours prior to your arrival stating that your phone service did not work well in Maine. It is true some carriers work better than others, unfortunately the cell reception is out of our control. Checking our listing it does not state that we offer wifi internet service nor cable television. The Wilderness Lane address listed on the site is the correct address for the cabin. If you use Google Maps it will show up. Our practice of greeting people at our address is to guide our guests through the camp roads and to orient them to the property, which is why our check-in times are listed at 2:00pm. 1AM arrivals are a problem.
Lovely lake with excellent water quality. Shared beachfront. Nice cabin.
We loved Sand Pond and our visit there. The cabin was nice. While the listing at the time of our rental called the beach private, I think it is better described as a shared beach, as there are a number of cabins with access.
A True Gem
The secret may be out about this place. Wonderful peaceful retreat away from it all. Super hosts attending to every detail! We cannot wait to return.
Peaceful Family get a way!
Leave your electronics at home, and stay in this hidden gem! The views, sounds, and waters were all amazing! The owners are super nice, and communicate well! This location is on our families to do again list!
The cabin is situated on a quiet lake with a beautiful sandy beach - excellent for swimming and kayaking, and with ample opportunity for hiking.
