Nice apartment in convenient location.

  • 4 of 5

Ana was waiting for us on arrival. She returned the day before we left to refund our deposit.

It's an old property with completely updated interior. Has all you need for a city holiday. Located in a narrow side street. No traffic noise except very occasional vehicle trundling down the street. You can hear the neighbours but it is just voices , no music or TV noise.

There are three tiny grocery stores close by. Very handy. We managed with those plus eating out. Location is convenient for metro, bus stops, banks, eating out.

We would have liked some more information left at the apartment -things to do and recommendations. On the last day we stepped outside and walked up rather than down. We discovered a nice little park, opposite the German Embassy. Just five minutes away.

The public transport is cheap and efficient. We bought a kind of season ticket which can be used on the trams, metro and local trains (including trip to Sintra from Rossio rail station).

Best things we did: firstly Yellow Boat to Belem, from jetty at Praca do Comercio. Travel down the mighty Tagus, dramatically pass under the suspension bridge, disembark, visit the Belem Tower and the wonderful monastery with adjacent church. Return later on the Yellow Boat. Secondly: day trip to Sintra, visit the castles. Train from Rossio station, takes about 40 minutes. When you leave the station, take one of the hop/on hop off coaches, it is much too far to walk. Great day out!

Lisbon is a fascinating city but you need to know that there is a lot of construction work in progress.

What a great find in Lisbon! Price is right, host is professional.

  • 5 of 5

Ana was waiting for us, a great host! She has renovated this small but cosy apartment just a few months ago and yes is perfect for couples. Just two minutes walking from the metro of Avenida, very central to my opinion, safe to start the discovery of Lisbon. Kitchen organized, two bathrooms with shower, one room w/ queen size bed and another w/ two extra beds for children (even a couch that I think that turns to bed if necessary in the living room/kitchen, forgive me if I am wrong Ana, I did not check it) but for parents is perfect to be alone for some moments and safe next to the children. Free wifi, small TV, nice little outside patio for coffee if the weather is good. Neighborhood is safe and meets parts of the old city touch, about six minutes walking from downtown and fifteen from Barrio Alto or Castello or twenty from Alfama. Guys, really, if you want to see the center of Lisbon walk around it, the apt is right on the spot. Ana is the perfect host and she is taking all the precautions to make your stay comfortable. Honest and a lawyer as she is, she even send me the guarantee back via bank transaction since we had no time to meet her on the departure date. Would definitely stay there again! Thank you Ana, hope to see you again!

Fantastic gem in the center of Lisbon

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic find this place was! Ana is a lovely owner and very accomodating. The apartment is 2 bedrooms (great for families), on a quiet street just off the main shopping street. We have a 3 year old and baby so the location was ideal for navigating the stroller and being only a few minutes walk from the main areas including Restaurados and Rossio. There are loads of restaurants in the area as well as grocery stores so you don't need to go far in the evening if you don't want to. The apartment has been redone completely and they really have done a great job. It was really nice to have 2 separate bedrooms as well as a decent kitchen/large fridge freezer and as a sitting area. The apartment is also a few hundred metres from the metro, Aerobus pick up/drop off point, taxi point and loads of shops. I can't recommend this place enough. Ana was very helpful if we needed anything-thank you!. We would definitely recommend this place to a travelling family/ can't beat the price/lcation/space....

Well furnished, conveniently located apartment

  • 5 of 5

A compact, well organised, family friendly, conveniently located apartment. Ana met us when we arrived and gave us all the information we needed to make our stay comfortable. There are several minimarkets within 1-2 minutes walking distance, a metro station is ca. 5 minutes walking distance away. Lovely location and reasonably priced apartment.

Nice and little apartment in Lisbon

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in Lisbon from 18 to 22 September. The apartment is very nice, clean, full equipped and very close to the metro and to the centre. Ana was very kindly and she gave us a lot of information about Lisbon.

Lisbon is a fantastic and lively city, full of people and things to do and to see.

We spent a very good holidays we hadn't time enough for visiting everything in the city so we will surely return there in the future.

We recommend the apartment.

This apartment is strategically located in heart of Lisbon City Centre, just 200 meters from 'Avenida da Liberdade', which is considered to be one of the most elegant places, in the heart of downtown Lisbon. This boulevard, built in the 19th century in the style of the Champs-Elysees in Paris, is the main avenue of the city. It links the famous Marquês de Pombal Square to the Restauradores Square (Lisbon's historic centre). The avenue is also the site of the city's many 5* hotels and designer outlets including Hugo Boss, Armani, Prada, Gucci, Hermés & Louis Vuitton. There are many attractions such as Museums, Theatres, Palaces, Churches, Restaurants, Cafes (Hard Rock Cafe) and the Tagus River, all 10-15 min walk away.

The Metro Station 'Avenida' is just 200 meters from the apartment.

You can go dinner at Bairro Alto take the Metro to Baixa-Chiado (second station after Metro Station Avenida).

Downtown Lisbon - Baxia : Baixa, or downtown Lisbon, is the heart of the city. It is the main shopping and banking district that stretches from the riverfront to the Avenida da Liberdade, with streets named according to the shopkeepers and craftsmen who traded in the area.

Baixa because it oozes life, its old world charm mixing easily with today’s action. Rua Augusta is the main tourist street and here alongside the Art Nouveau store fronts, grizzled old locals read the papers hung at corner kiosks and tourists settle in at premium-rate pavement cafés watching a parade of buskers, street artists and the ubiquitous Peruvian pan pipers.

The Baixa’s central square, Rossio, provides some of the best free entertainment in the city. All of Lisbon’s masses seem to drift across Rossio’s undulating mosaic paving at some time. Stop for a coffee and watch the passing scene.

Downtown - Sights to Watch: The area's top three sights are undoubtedly Comercio Square, Rossio Square, and the Santa Justa Elevator. Don’t miss any of these. Don't forget to look down at the cobbled mosaic pavements as you walk down Avenida da Liberdade, past Restauradores, Rossio, and into Rua Augusta.

The nondescript facade of the 'Casa do Alentejo' restaurant in Rua das Portas de Santo Antao hides a most beautiful Moorish interior. The price of the meal (reasonably high, but the food is excellent) is justified by the surroundings. Take a walk down Rua Augusta, the city's main shopping street but you will find that most goods can be found cheaper elsewhere. Stop and look at Sao Domingos Church, to the right of the National Theatre.

Rua das Portas de Santo Antao is a pedestrian street lined with seafood and other restaurants. Take a stroll along here to see if something appeals and also explore some of the small side streets for less touristy options.

Downtown Lisbon (Baixa) - Getting Around: Walking is the only way to adequately see the whole of Baixa. There are pedestrianised streets and lovely squares where you can walk in comfort. Taxis are available from all the squares if you need to venture further.

There is plenty of public transport adjacent or passing through this area.

The Terreiro do Paço ferry terminal is close to Commerce Square.

The Rossio train station is just the Restauradores Square.- You can take the train to Sintra (45minutes).

The Cais do Sodré train station is just the river. You can take the train to Cascais (40 minutes).

Four metro stations serve this area – Baixa-Chiado, Rossio, Restauradores and Avenida.

Trams and buses also pass through the area.

There is also direct access to the Lisbon airport from this area by AEROBUS.

FATIMA: Fatima is easily accessible by hourly bus.

Take a metro to Jardim Zoologica and Rede Expressos buses are right across back road on exit from terminal. Tickets at 10.50 euro one way. Santuary easy walk 500m walk on arrival at Fatima bus terminal.
