About Julie Houseman
I married Nicholas in 1981 and we lived on our other farm at Blubberhouses for 18 years where our son John was born. In 1999 we converted the Old Calf Shed into a granny flat for Nicholas's mother and moved back to Prospect. Mary had lived here since 1932. first with her parents and then her husband and four children. Nicholas, John and myself farm both Prospect Farm which is 200 acres and Hall farm. Blubberhouses which is 320 acres, with the cows here and the young stock and sheep at Blubberhouses. We milk about 150 holstien cows and sell the milk to Arla, I worked after leaving school in a Lingere shop where I qualified as a bra and corsetry fitter and worked for 10 years until leaving to have John, Since then I worked for 17 years for my brother in his butchers shop, and at our local restaurant. In 1989 I started my own catering business which I still do now, providing food for anything from christenings, weddings, funerals, open days, shows where ever food is needed.
Julie Houseman purchased this Cottage in 1999
Why Julie Houseman chose Otley
The farm has been Nicholas's family home for nearly 90 years. His mother and grandparents moved here after being moved off their farm by the water authority due to the building of a reservoir next to their farm
What makes this Cottage unique
we have some of the most stunning views, looking down the Wharfe Valley and onto the Chevin , we can watch the planes coming and going from Leeds Bradford Airport with out the noise. We live in the centre of our land up a 400 metre lane so are a very tranquil and quiet. We are 30 minutes from the centre of Leeds or Bradford, 45 minutes from York or the beautiful dales and very easy access to all the major roads.

Wonderful relaxing break
Wonderful relaxing weekend break, Julie couldn't have been more helpful, lots to do in the nearby area, dog friendly.
The hot tub in the evening under moon and the stars was so tranquil and relaxing.
Definitely recommend a stay in the Old Calf Shed.
Quiet and relaxing
We had planned this weekend as a chill out weekend and it didn't disappoint. We had a lovely welcome from Julie, everything we needed was in the cottage including homemade cakes, eggs and milk but if there was anything we needed we just had to tx and she was straight there. The views are beautiful and it is so peaceful to say it is a working farm. We had two lovely nights in the hot tub watching the stars and didn't want the weekend to end. The cottage is very spacious and clean. There are plenty of games in the cupboard and a file full of useful information, like where to eat. We will be returning.
Lovely property, we had a great time
Enjoyed a lovely weekend stay, we both had a great time, cant fault the accommodation. If i had to be critical its a bit far from anything and a car is definitely needed (obviously not the owners fault). Overall a fab letting
Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Made for a perfect relaxing weekend

We have the RHS Harlow Carr at Harrogate which are lovely to walk around and you must stop at the Betty's cafe for cake and a coffee, or treat yourself to Afternoon tea at the Harrogate Bettys. Why not drive to Skipton and visit the castle, or continue on to Malham Tarn and around the Yorkshire Dales calling at Wensyldale Creameries to sampleWallace and Gromit cheese. At Shipley we have Salts Mill built by Sir Titus Salt and now a museum with many different exhibits including David Hockneys Painting. York has an bundance of museums including the railway Museum, the beautifully repaired catherdrall is well worth a look at. For the children we had Brimham rocks to use some energy up on, two excellent petting farms Hesketh Farm and Brimham Farm.
