The elegant Tremont Loft is located on the top floor of a fabulous 1899 character building in Nelson B.C., Canada. A miner's hotel in the 1890's, The Tremont Loft was completely re-built in 2016, and features two king size bedrooms, two bathrooms (both with beautiful showers, one with soaker tub), exposed brick walls, 10.5' ceilings, refinished historic fir floors, elegant bath fixtures, chef's kitchen, cozy gas fireplace, views of Baker Street and the mountains beyond, and an intriguing, private courtyard. A sophisticated, luxury suite for the stylish & discerning traveller. * The posted rate is for 2 people - up to two additional guests can be accommodated, for a fee of $75 CAD per guest, per night. * Free PRIVATE OFF STREET PARKING! About Douglas Jones

Your hosts - Doug Jones & Fiona Richards! Doug - I'm a professional illustrator for clients such as the New York Times, Rolling Stone Magazine, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal etc. I also did all of the finish carpentry that you see in the loft. Fiona - I was born and raised in Scotland - I'm the CEO of Cartolina, a retail and wholesale paper and gift company. Our award winning retail store is on the main floor of the building, below the loft - we hope you'll pop in and say hi - we love meeting our guests and are happy to provide local information. We have lived in Nelson for over 20 years.

What makes this Guest House unique

A unique opportunity to stay in one of Nelson's oldest historic buildings. Built in 1891 as the Tremont Hotel during the early days of a silver and gold mining rush to the area. Great care was taken to maintain a historic feel, while providing all the modern amenities that travellers hope for. Beautiful refinished fir floors, tongue & groove ceilings, marble and granite counters, stainless steel appliances, including a 6 burner professional range. The loft has state of the art heating and air conditioning, as well as a mechanical ventilation system to provide fresh air into the loft 24hrs a day. The gas fireplace will immediately warm you up on cold winter days after skiing. Historic photographs line the walls of the private mini bar- and give you a glimpse of what the building and Nelson looked like in the 1890's. The rooftop courtyard is completely private - no one can see in - a great place for catching some sun, or sitting in the evening with a drink. We also have private off street parking available for guests at the rear of the building. King size beds in both bedrooms with 800 thread count sheets, lots of pillows, bedside tables, alarm clocks etc. Iron, ironing board, hair dryers, and all the dishes, glasses and cooking utensils you might need.

                                                                  My husband and I travel to Nelson twice a year, going on to year 5 now. One of the sole purposes of our trip is to visit our favourite store, Cartolina. We heard about the Tremont Loft a few years back during one of our many visits to Cartolina, except whenever we were ready to book the times available never worked for us. This is the first time that it just seemed to work out for us, and it has been our most memorable stay in Nelson yet.

                                                                  The photos are true to the space. Upon entering the loft, I felt like I stepped into all the photos I've seen online. There was no detail overlooked in this beautiful loft. The space was so warm and inviting, filled with plenty of natural light. The linens and towels are high quality and the rooms were nicely filled with my favourite soaps and scents from Cartolina. It was also nicely stocked with everything you would need to cook and serve in a the beautiful gourmet kitchen.

                                                                  The location is perfect... right in the heart of Nelson on Baker street, but tucked quietly at the end. Everything you need is just around the corner. The Kootney Co-op is just a quick 5 minute walk away, filled with fantastic, high quality items that made it fun and exciting to cook in the loft - and comparing to Calgary, were very reasonably priced too! Our favourite spot to eat is the Cantina, and was the perfect stumbling distance after having a flight of tequila :) My favourite crystal shops were even just a few doors down. The. Location. Was. Perfect. And yet.... with all the hot spots so close by, we always found ourselves coming back in the loft, sitting by the fire, or admiring the streets from the ceiling to floor windows. The space is really just that beautiful.

                                                                  We definitely plan to make the Tremont Loft a part of our yearly tradition. Doug was so easy to communicate with right from the request for booking. Fiona was kind and fun to chat with during our visit at the shop. Thank you again Doug & Fiona for a memorable getaway. We will be back again!

Well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Great private patio. Very quiet. Lots of stairs so if you have mobility challenges that may be a limitation.
