Red Eglantine is an Alsatian farm 100m2 timbered its owners saved from demolition and transplanted into the village where they live themselves. The cottage is quietly situated in a village of 220 inhabitants with an ideal location for both leisure tourism activities or access to local services: supermarket, various shops, restaurants within 5 minutes of the rental.

Animals (cat / dog) are allowed for a fee and after consultation with the owners and posting a bond.

The cottage has a neat and harmonious décor made from antique furniture and objects collected from flea markets in the region. The materials chosen for its realization are natural: wood, lime, dirt and products used for finishes: hard wax oil or Biofa Mauler ...

Tenant comfort is assured: dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, small appliances (toaster, kettle, coffee or traditional piston or Senseo, mixer, blender, food processor ...), glass-plate ceramic, extractor hood ... as baby equipment (deckchair, high chair, babycook, bottle warmer, folding bed ...) on request.

All floors of the DRC are old tiles. Underfloor heating is provided by a pellet boiler. A wood stove is in addition to enjoy the winter evenings by the fire: the first basket of wood is offered and invoiced the following 5 euros.

Access upstairs is via a beautiful staircase type 'quarter turn'; its configuration can potentially cause problems for people with reduced mobility.

The floor opens onto a relaxation area for children (former desk 3 seater with folding jump seats), a separate toilet and 2 bedrooms: 'The Lodge' at South side is a master suite with refined decoration that includes a two bed people, wardrobe and ancillary storage space, table space but also a bath / adjoining sink. 'The attic is the second bedroom which is located in the North; it hosts two brass beds and provides a more rustic mountain decor: wardrobe, storage space and a table waiting for you. Upstairs floors are old paneled floors.

Heating is provided by radiators connected to the pellet boiler.

Towels and house provided and beds made on arrival. The bedding is high quality linen and harmoniously selected bed with two bedrooms which helps to give them an identity.

The comfort of the cottage includes a relaxing outdoor space: bucolic terrace accessible from a door-window located in the kitchen, barbecue, garden furniture, park, bench and chairs.

Fantastic holiday home in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a wonderful week in Salenthal in probably the most interesting holiday home we've ever stayed in. The house is typical Alsacien and is like stepping back in time, but with modern day conveniences! It is immaculate and we immediately felt at home there.

Nancy and her family are lovely and are there to offer help and advice if needed. Very welcoming.

The area is a walker's and cyclist's delight. Wildlife abounds. Weather hot and sunny. All in all a fantastic holiday.

Owner's Response: Dear Jacquie, It's a real pleasure to welcome people as the two of you (three with your well educated and nice dog) in our rental, Rouge Eglantine. Happy to know that you enjoyed it and that our advices were helpful. To tear down and rebuild this Alsacian house ourselves was not only a way to save it from demolition but is nowadays a marvellous opportunity to meet nice persons. We are looking forward to welcoming you again if you plan again holidays in our neighbourhood! Best regards Nancy and Cie

Charming fairy tale house

  • 5 of 5

A unique craftsman house in a beautiful setting. Very quiet and located near most points of interest. Our hosts Nancy and Frank are very charming and speak English very well. The house is well equipped, wifi etc. We would recommend this beautiful property to anyone with hesitation. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

Owner's Response: Dear Michelle and D'Arcy, We can't tell you how wonderful were the moments we shared. We greatly enjoyed talking with the two of you about local history, wonderful places off the beaten tourist tracks. We are looking forward to seeing you again, in Alsace but also in California. Many thanks...

Wunderbar ist fast untertrieben

  • 5 of 5

Truly 5 Star

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful. Superb house for anyone but especially those who enjoy historical properties. Beautifully presented. Very well equipped. Spotless. Delightful owners who made us feel really welcome. Excellent area for walking and cycling with castles, canals, cherry orchards, many interesting towns and villages, fine old buildings and Alsace wine. Would highly recommend this lovely house.

Unbelievable! This place is incredible, we had such a wonderful time. We have discovered our new favorite place to go. The pictures do not do justice to all that this place has to offer. Pictures cannot capture the ambiance of the house or the region. The people were so friendly, and were willing to share the secrets of the Alsace that are not written in the travel books. I only wish that I could rate it with more stars.
