A wonderful month spent at Captiva Cottage!
Bob and I have enjoyed our month here in Captiva Cottage. It is hard to leave to go back to the icy cold of Wisconsin! The new pool has been wonderful! Our grandkids especially enjoyed the fountain and the shallow end. We love having a fenced yard and all the privacy that the cottage gives us. The beach has been incredible...most days we have had it to ourselves. Every day it is different and it is always fun to see what it will be like. Most days we have seen dolphins. Piper, our Golden Retriever, has been Queen of the beach! She just wants to swim and retrieve any kind of ball and is quite good at riding the waves. I think she has developed a following! The Cottage has an outdoor shower where we were able to bathe her daily after her time at the beach.
We have enjoyed the Ding Darling immensely and have made a daily trip there. We've seen endangered Wood Storks, the legendary lady crocodile,an alligator and so many gorgeous birds. Some of them such as the Blue Herons, Snowy Egret and Great Egrets we have at home in the summer. We kayaked in Tarpon Bay which was so neat.
We also went fishing with a guide for Redfish. We came home and prepared them for dinner. It was wonderful!
Your perfect location enabled us easy access to many fantastic restaurants both on Captiva and in Sanibel. Our favorites include Over Easy Cafe for breakfasts, picking up take home lunches at Sweet Treats Gourmet and dinners at The Timbers, Doc Fords and Sunshine Seafood.
Bob and I so enjoyed our time in Captiva Cottage. It was the 2nd year we stayed and hopefully we will again next year!
Your photos give an accurate look into the house which really has all that one needs for their vacation. It is very clean and well maintained.
Thank you for a splendid review, Caren! I truly appreciate that you took the time for the review and I like to compliment your talents as a writer. It is my benefit to have someone as caring, thoughtful, and appreciative as you as my renters. Looking forward to your next stay,
Wonderful place to stay.
Private, quiet, and just a short walk to the beach. The pool was beautiful and a great place to spend time in the evenings. We would definitely come back again!
Perfect for us!
Loved the pool. Beach access was just across the road and down one property. Very short walk. Spent most of our time at the pool - shaded yet sunny. Beds were very comfortable and the rest of the house was great. Kitchen was well stocked. Restaurants were just a quick car ride away. Walking trail on Sanibel was just over the bridge - we used it every day. I would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful secluded property, close to everything!
Had a girls shelling vacation here in October of this year, this property is wonderful, very clean, everything you need. Contemporary furnishings and the homeowners artwork throughout the home was amazing. Well stocked kitchen with everything you need! Margarethe and Rene were very kind and easy to communicate with, gave us great recommendations on restaurants in the area and activities. The home is in walking distance to Blind Pass, Turner Beach so it's easy to come and go. Plenty of room for the 4 of us, could easily sleep more. Loved the screened in porch - we loved sitting there and examining our shells of the day! This home is very secluded, you feel like you are in your own tropical oasis - and the beautiful heated pool is a nice refreshing way to end the day. Would definitely recommend this place - its amazing! A big thank you to Margarethe and Rene!
October In Captiva
We enjoyed our stay. The house and property were great. The pool was nice on the hot days and the short walk to the beach across the street was not an issue. The beach was fantastic. This house was perfect for our vacation and would definitely stay there again.
The Perfect spot for our first trip to Captiva + Sanibel
This was our first trip to the islands, and we really enjoyed the week. My kids loved the heated, private pool, and basically lived in it all week.
The beach is just across the street. My wife and I went for a walk, and at a certain point I looked up and pleasantly realized we basically had a private beach. Well, we did share it with the dolphins just offshore.
Other Activities: shelling, dolphin watch, sunset cruise
