To wake up in the morning with the reflection of the sunlight on the surface of the water and hear the sound of water birds is a unique way to live Within the city. To share with you the experience and feeling of living on a houseboat in the canals of Amsterdam, we would like to welcome you to the Watercraddle.

This unique small houseboat recently had notes interior completely renovated and is a perfect place to stay for two people looking to spend a great time in a lovely city. The houseboat Has A comfortable king-size bed (1. 80 x 2. 00), a stylish bathroom, a kitchen, wifi and television. You will enjoy to sit on your own little terrace on the waterside and watch the waterbirds. The Watercraddle is located on a quiet walkway (no cars in front of the boat), just a few hundred meters from the Jordan, well-Known for its canals, markets, cozy pubs and restaurants and the Anne Frank House.

The Watercraddle is located a hunderd meters from the heart of the Jordan, in the historic center of Amsterdam. The Jordaan is an area full of small restaurants, terraces, fun shops alternating with beautiful canals, small streets and with a variety of wonderful historic buildings. The Jordan borders on the well-known shopping area the Nine Little Streets (literally: Nine Little Streets) were you can find many usefull small shops and cozy restaurants.

Within walking distance you will find highlights like the Anne Frank House, the Wester Tower, the Dam Square, the Royal Palace and the Amsterdam Historic Museum. BedonBoard is easily reachable by car and public transport (see below under "Accessibility"), but once you're here, the Easiest Means of transportation is by bicycle (see tab "Bicycle rental").

The Watercraddle is a few minutes walk from the nicest shopping street in Amsterdam (and Awarded second best shopping street of the Netherlands, 2011): Haarlemmerdijk and about 10 minutes by bike from Central Station or the Leidseplein.

It is a mere 500 meters walk to the beautiful North, and recently fully renovated Westerpark, also known as the "Culture Park" or Amsterdam. In Westerpark you will find a classic Victorian style park section, a large center section for cultural events and a more rugged part with trails for walkers or runners. Centrally located in the park you will find the Espressofabriek with simply the best coffee Amsterdam Has to sacrifice. Enjoy a superb breakfast in the nearby Bakkerswinkel. Every Sunday of the month there is a farmers market in the park. If you're looking for something very close to the Watercraddle, we recommend the Pavilion.

In summary, a peaceful but central location in a nice neighborhood in Amsterdam.

ACCESSIBILITY:

From the airport you can take a train to central station (20 min). From there you can upkeep walk (20 minutes), take a cab (approximately € 13) or take bus 21 (less than 10 minutes).

To take bus 21. When you arrive at Central Station, exit on the city side (main exit). Take bus No. 21 and get off after 5 minutes at the stop "of Beuningenplein". At the other side of the street you will see a large square with a play garden: the "from Beuningenplein". Take the road left of this square (Second Keucheniusstraat) and follow 150 meters to the very end. You are in front of your BedonBoard!

When you Decide to come by car. You can park your car almost always in front of the Watercraddle. HOWEVER, Amsterdam is not very "car friendly" as the city charges rather high rates for parking. Alternatively, go to Park and Ride Amsterdam for cheaper parking options. The Park and Ride that's Closest to us, is the "P + R Sloterdijk". The cost for Park and Ride is € 8 per day. They offer return tickets for public transport free of charge.

Beautiful accomadation perfect base!

  • 5 of 5

The water cradle is beautiful! The owners are very helpful and the directions given were so easy to follow. Travelling around was so easy with a 3 day gvb card. Hardly waiting at all for transport and it was easy enough to follow. Everyone was really friendly and there is plenty to do. Highly recommend that Anne frank museum and eating at the ribs factory! Grasshopper is a lovely place to go for some drinks. It pretty much snowed the whole time we were here but that made it such a different experience and we really enjoyed it. I would recommend the water cradle to anyone.

If your looking for something different this is definitely for you. Clean, well kept, nice location, comfortable bed and overall lovely. Thanks for letting us stay!

Great Place!

  • 4 of 5

We loved staying on the houseboat. It was in a quiet location away from most traffic and noise. We had wished it was a little closer but we think alot of that was our fault for not knowing where things were and relying on GPS to walk us around! The boat was clean and up to date and had everything you needed. It had a big comfortable king size bed. Everything was very nice!

Great home base to explore Amsterdam!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Water cradle. It is as the pictures suggest. Just the right size for two, with everything you need. Although it is not the greatest view, we enjoyed having our personal space on the canal. We had coffee in the morning and wine in the evening on our little deck. We had swans and ducks come right up to our window! We even saw swimmers in the canal as it was unusually warm for September. It was a perfect location, away from the hustle and bustle of the main city, yet close enough to walk or bike to everything. There is convenient public transit stops nearby if you do not wish to walk or bike. Although biking can be intimidating in Amsterdam, I would recommend you rent the bikes from Doet. The cradle is located in a quieter area and is near Westerpark. We enjoyed a few of the restaurants located in the park and wished we had more time to explore. We would love to come back!

A perfect haven

  • 5 of 5

The Watercradle is a haven of peace after the vibrant business of the City; it was a delight to come back to each night. It has everything you need and an exceptional large comfortable bed. All booking and check in facilities fast and efficient and friendly. Easy to travel to and from Amsterdam city centre by bus and this takes just a few minutes. A true gem of a place and would definitely recommend.

A perfect place to stay in Amsterdam

  • 5 of 5

The Watercradle was the PERFECT place to stay while visiting the gorgeous city of Amsterdam. My wife and I were lucky enough to have found this terrific little houseboat online, and it really made our trip one that we will always remember. It was cozy without being cramped, with easy access to all major sites in the city. I highly recommend that you rent one of the bikes that Doet, the owner, provides. Riding a bike was the best thing that we did during our entire European vacation.

What made the visit even better was working with the fabulous Doet. She was very responsive when working on the reservation and made things easy for us. Her directions to the property were spot on and easy to follow, and we never once felt like we were lost. She was extremely welcoming to us, and she really made us feel at home. I'm very grateful that we picked her houseboat to spend our first Christmas as husband and wife together. We couldn't have asked for a better holiday retreat, and we sincerely hope to make it back one day!
