Overview

Upper Peninsula Michigan Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Sunset Cottage is a charming three-bedroom cottage located on the shore of Lake Huron on St. Martin's Bay and just minutes from Hessel, Cedarville and Les Cheneaux Islands with popular activities such as boating, fishing and golf. The cottage combines lake living with the warm welcoming atmosphere of home, making it a favorite of honeymooners, couples and families.

Sunset Cottage is newly renovated with a larger kitchen and new bathroom on the second floor. There are French doors, which face the lake and lead to a large deck for plenty of room to enjoy the sun during the day and a view of spectacular sunsets in the evening. Sunset Cottage is close to many favorite northern Michigan vacation spots like Mackinac Island and St. Ignace are 30 minutes away; Sault Saint Marie and the Soo Locks are 45 minutes north. There are several casinos close by; the Hessel Casino is a ten minute drive. The cottage is also close to state and national parks for walking and hiking.

Sunset Cottage is nestled in pine and cedar trees, steps away from the shore and is a great place for a peaceful vacation in Northern Michigan. Fully equipped kitchen including: dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, toaster, blender, dishes, utensils, pots and pans. Full size refrigerator; electric stove.

About Cathy Neff-Siegers

The cottage was purchased by my late husband and myself as a second home. It has been decorated and furnished for that purpose. It is rented for only, approximately, five months during the year. It is a popular location for families and couples seeking a relaxing get away.

Cathy Neff-Siegers purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Cathy Neff-Siegers chose Upper Peninsula Michigan

The cottage location is in peaceful area with much wildlife. It was always a retreat for us. It is truly our 'special place at the lake'.

Sunset Cottage

The cottage is comfortable and well maintained with all needs provided for. Our stay was an incredibly relaxing. The Hessel area is a beautiful environment for the family, and not far from the cottage.

Perfect getaway in a lovely area!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely cottage and found many of the comforts of home! Full kitchen, washer & dryer, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms -- it was perfect for our family of 4. We could have left our kayak home, as there are two at the cottage. The sunsets on St. Martin's Bay are breathtaking. It was a very relaxing stay.

nice cute cottage

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice stay at this cottage. Great location on the shore. Unable to dock a boat but paddling a kayak would be fine here. The Hessel harbor is not far and preferred for boat launches. No soap or shampoo provide... otherwise we found what we needed. Bedrooms were comfortable. All in all it's quiet and comfortable.

A relaxing piece of home in paradise

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying here with my family for over ten years. Our host has always been gracious and for the few issues we have ever had, she has responded quickly. The house is well set up with three bedrooms and two full baths. The back deck is a great place to spread out in a comfy porch or camp chair and spend the day reading (and napping!). We always bring a couple of kayaks to paddle around the bay, easily accessed from the path in the back (bring water shoes--the walk can be marshy depending on lake levels). The kitchen is great for group cooking and has a good selection of cooking utensils. Awesome bonus: Dishwasher! As the name implies, the sunset views are spectacular, as are the star views at night (but insect repellant will assist your comfort outdoors at night). Close to many interesting spots. The entire area is beautiful, but you could find yourself staying right here and relaxing all day long!

Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Sunset Cottage for a weekend and absolutely loved it. The pictures were spot on but in actuality did not do the cottage justice. It was beautifully decorated like one would imagine a lake cottage to look like. I'm not sure what Chris meant by the beds being twin sized but I can assure you they were all double beds with comfortable quilts. The remodeled bath was spacious and the kitchen was nicer than my kitchen at home was at the time. Hessel is a rural area but there were some good restaurants there which we enjoyed. If you are wanting to 'unplug', relax and enjoy a slower pace, this is the place you're looking for. Absolutely wonderful.

Fabulous Sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

We have spent 6 straight years at Sunset cottage with 2 kids and other family members. It is the most serene and quiet atmosphere you could ask for. The sunsets are magnificent and the Bay is beautiful. If you want a peaceful retreat without the constant boats/jet ski action, this is the place. Best place to walk the waterline and kayak. The amenities are great. It is a place for R&R to get away from the cyber world. The owner makes the cottage feel welcoming and like it was your own for the time you are there. If you love nature and want to explore like our kids and parents did, you will love this quiet place. The pictures are exact and are not misleading.
