In 2005, we planned a multi-family vacation at Haddix Point Hideaway through then owners, George & Sharon Haddix. Had so much fun, we came back the following two summers. When George and Sharon decided to sell, they offered it to us because they knew how much we loved the property. We hated to think that, if someone else bought it, they may not rent it out and we'd lose out on our favorite vacation spot! Well, with a lot of luck and some help along the way we were able to swing the purchase. We are happy to be able to share this house with so many families that return each year.
This location is a great location on the lake. It was the cold season so we did not have the dock right in front of the house but could have used it next door if we would have liked to. The house has plenty of space but if you stay in the winter it does get cold. The owner has amazing space heaters we used but we did not see any other heating source. One more would be nice for the big patio room as that room was the coldest. I stayed in the room with the sliding door and view of the lake. I would recommend the owner invests in a nice slider door in that room because the regular window has small gaps in it allowing cold air to go through it. The kitchen had many supplies and seasonings which was great for staying in on the cold nights. The only other issue I had with the property is the blinds in the bedroom I was in as well as the patio room. They are so worn that I felt like I had to be extra careful when opening them so even more pieces wouldn't fall off. They don't completely close in the guest bedroom so if you don't want light in the room in the morning you need to sleep in an alternate room. I know that with cost effective small changes like this the guests will have a different view of the interior and enjoy their stay even more. The girl I was with was not used to rentals and felt the broken blinds made it feel like the owners don't care to keep the place up. I did not feel this way as I have seen alot of cabin rentals but I want to be honest with the owners as they are sitting on a rental gold mine and could easily get outstanding remarks in all areas. The owners were very nice and available at all times. I would definately stay again, possibly in the summer time so I can enjoy the porch and the dock.
A small group of friends enjoyed our weekend at the house. The setting is beautiful! We enjoyed walking down to the lake in the morning. There is a lot of room in the house to spread out. The kitchen is well-stocked and it's nice that the owner leaves some spices and other items for use. We'd love to come back to spend more time at Haddix Point.
The house was just as it was described and pictured on VRBO. Very roomy, beds super comfortable, and lots of room. Hugh made it very easy to work with and answered all my silly questions.
Highly recommend this property. We will rent and stay here again on our next trip up to KY.
The cabin was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay! It made for the
perfect birthday memory for our daughter. One of our favorite things about it was the view from the point where we watched wildlife, fishermen and pleasure boaters enjoying the lake. When we didn't feel like grilling out, we had a fabulous lunch at Shaker Village's Trustees Table just down the road.

We had a fantastic time at Haddix Point Hideaway June 24-29th. We comfortably slept 9 adults and 3 children. Lake Herrington is very large and we were so impressed with the serenity of it as well as the enjoyment of watching all the people having a great time boating on it. The view is amazing and the yard is large enough to have a sense of privacy from the neighbors. We were able to play corn hole, roast marshmallows at the fire pit, and grill all of our meals on the gas grill that was on site. We loved having use of the private dock to swim, fish, paddle board, SUP and dock the pontoon we rented from Herrington Marina for the best rate we have ever seen for water sports rentals. A private boat launch also came in handy to enter jet skis. The house was immaculately clean and had everything you could possibly need. We loved that we did not have to lug linens, pillows, blankets and towels for such a large group! We set up the added extra table and chairs in the sunroom for extra seating and games. If we had been prepared we would have used the washer and dryer that were provided! Thanks Megan and Hugh for a wonderful place to spend with our 4 generations of family.
The perfect woodsy get-away!! We had plenty of room for 6 adults on the 1st floor with the large kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom, family room, and covered deck overlooking a beautiful piece of property. Two more bedrooms upstairs could easily accommodate 4 more. The travel time between the distilleries and home base was easier than anticipated giving us time to enjoy nightly camp fires. Eating dinner by headlamp on the bluff was so much fun. Between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm we drove 100 + miles to visit about 5 places per day. Our total travel time per day was about 2+ hours. Over the five day period we visited 14 distilleries, toured the Oskar-Getz museum in Bardstown, the barrel factory in Lebanon, the KY Chocolate factory in Lexington, the convent/artist studio in Nerinx, and the Shaker Village. We also threw in some great restaurants and home cooked meals.
Thanks for providing us such a great place to stay.
