Studio Agonale:

Cozy, bright and charming penthouse-studio of 40sqm, refined, warmly furnished, directly on the roofs of Piazza Navona. In a historic medieval building, 4th floor with elevator, overlooking and accessing terraces, your outdoor quiet space. Real unique location! In the very historic center, few steps to everything!

On the ground floor of this historic building, under its colonnade, it can still be seen as an embedded pillar of the original ancient Stadium of Domitian, or Circus Agonalis (built in '85 AD to house the Greek athletic games, 'agones') on which ancient track the square has been built over the centuries, preserving the original rectangular shape of the arena. Now many street artists attending the square equipped with small makeshift stalls, to paint and exhibit their creations, some specialize in portraits and caricatures for passers-by. Or the living statues, clowns, musicians and singers, making, especially in the evening, one of the points most vital and interesting in Rome. With the 'Navona Square' you can stay right in the heart of the historic center, a few meters from Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Roman Forum, Colosseum, etc.. and in the heart of Rome's nightlife. Nearby is also Campo de 'Fiori, a meeting place at night and one of the most popular outdoor market of Rome during the day. The entire neighborhood is full of taverns, restaurants, bars, shops and markets. Also just across the river you can walk to Trastevere, the ancient Roman district famous for its 'nightlife' and exceptional restaurants and pizzerias.

Great location, nice apartment, responsive host

  • 5 of 5

Very central and right on a lovely piazza, the apartment is small but everything we needed to be comfortable. Mario was very helpful-he arranged tours and transportation for us, and answered any questions we had right away. The staff at the restaurant downstairs was also super friendly and made us feel quite welcome. Couldn’t have been better!

This rental was everything it was advertised to be and more. It was clean and quaint and within walking distance to many great historical and entertainment sites. Mario was very accommodating and responsive to all requests. I highly recommend this studio apt for a lovely Italian get-a-way!

Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5

Just returned from a two-week stay in this apartment over the Christmas holidays. Prior to arrival, communication with the owner (Mario) was excellent and all questions were promptly and accurately answered. On arrival, we took the express train from Fiumicino Airport to Termini station, then a cab to the apartment. We were met there personally by Andrea who showed the apartment, provided keys and other information. We always felt connected and in touch with the owners throughout our stay.

PROS: The apartment is on the 4th floor, but the building has a good elevator, so no stair climbing required. It was very clean, has modern A/C & heat, and was just as depicted in the ad and photos. Quiet and safe at night. Excellent location right on Piazza Navona, with easy walking access to the Pantheon (5 mins), Campo De Fiori (5 mins), Trevi Fountain (15 mins), Vatican City (20 mins), Via Del Corso (10 mins), the Jewish Ghetto (15 mins) and Largo Argentina bus stop (10 mins). Lots of great restaurants nearby. Spacious outdoor patio with a small outdoor table and chairs as depicted. The patio is technically shared with 2 other apartments (one of which is Mario's larger rental apartment), but we never saw another soul up there during our entire 2 week stay. It has a small strip-kitchen with a 2 burner stove, sink and small fridge. It also had a microwave, but we never could get that appliance to function during our stay (but we never called Mario about it because we really didn't need it). Bathrooom has a very small stand-up shower, sink, toilet & bidet. Good hot water supply. Basic kitchen and bath provisions (towels/linens, hair dryer, soap, dishes/utensils, coffee, sugar, salt, pasta & sauce, fruit) were provided. The nearest grocery store is a 5 minute walk towards the Pantheon. The apartment has wi-fi, but it is through a portable cellular hot spot - fairly reliable, but not very fast. King-size bed was comfortable.

CONS: The apartment is very small - just a bedroom, small bath and strip kitchen. Fine enough for one - fairly cramped for two. The ceiling is normal height in the doorway, but slopes down to about 4' high along the back wall, so we were constantly whacking our heads on the ceiling beams when at the foot of the bed. The other apartment that Mario has in this building is MUCH more spacious and would be a much better choice for a longer stay. Also, there are no laundry facilities.

Overall, a very good experience here.

Also thank you so much for your nice words, both compliments and criticisms. So... if you will be back someday you could stay in the other larger studio, isn't it? Excellent romantic apartment -5*****

  • 5 of 5

Just came back from Rome after perfect journey - only 4 days, ma tutto bene! Thanks for hospitality to Mario and Andrea, who met us in person and who looks like noble Roman patrician. First of all I appriciate our communication - clear and comprehensible, accuracy of description and photos, cleanlines and whiteness, complete silence and peace though in the heart of Rome.. and the bottle of wine was most welcome)). The apartment is located on the last 4-th flour of very central bourgeois house with patio and great terrace with a view to Navona square and surroundings. Even in mid November we had nice self-made dinner on the top - like in the very private own restaurant. Though there are plenty around. Here are our best findings - Il Gocetto on via Banchi Vecchi for great wine, delicious appetizers and ambience as well as wel-known Cul de Sac 200 meters far from apartments. Bar del Fico on via della Pace for shpritz con aperol among fancy attractive people. Enoteca la Torre in villa Laetitia with Michelin star if you want excellent dinner with outstanding service - we were treated by direttore Luigi Pica and somelier Rudy Travagli like it was small chamber theatre and we were long-expected star Guests. Despite the first intention to keep these gems secret, I highly recommend the Navona apartment for all intelligent romance-lovers.

With thanks and best wishes to Mario and Andrea from St.Petersburg, Russia

Perfect locale, beautiful view, gracious host

  • 5 of 5

This apartment will be our new home base whenever we visit Rome. My daughter and I spent three nights here and we could not have been happier. From this central location, everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. The owner is the perfect host. He personally welcomed us to the building and stayed in contact via email before, during and after our visit to make sure we had everything we needed. He arranged for transportation to and from the airport, stocked the kitchen with water, coffee, and fresh fruit for our arrival, and generally treated us like family. The apartment was perfectly clean and we felt very safe. The view from the balcony is awe-inspiring. It's the perfect place to watch the sunset over Rome. I would highly recommend this property. In fact, I already have recommended it to my family members living in Europe.
