Amazing Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Amazing cabin! Very clean, very comfortable, amazing views. Can't beat the creek, hammock, and swing! I could write a novel on how much we enjoyed this place. Will certainly be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great cabin. The town of Black Mountain was so cute. Great, great place!

Secluded, Serene, Spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house on a large lot in a secluded neighborhood right on the river.

The house is fully stocked with everything you could need, including satellite TV to catch a bit of the game. Only a short drive to Asheville, and the quaint towns of Black Mountain and Montreat. Definitely want to come back and hike the path at the top of Montreat. The hot tub soothed our tired legs after hiking and exploring the cities. And the fire pit on the river was the perfect way to end each day! Loved every minute of our stay, look forward to coming back in the future.

Cozy cabin on beautiful property complete with a creek!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful home. Close to Asheville, but far enough to totally escape it all. Owners were great and responsive, and their home was super cozy. We brought our 2 small dogs and loved watching them down by the water.

Quiet, clean, comfy beds, nice yard and stream.

  • 4 of 5

My wife, two young daughters, and I stayed at the Bee Tree Cottage last weekend. The location is what I would consider 'in-between'. It's out in the country far enough that there's not a ton of traffic going by, but it's not so secluded that you feel like you're alone in the wilderness. It doesn't quite feel like camping/roughing it, but it certainly doesn't feel like the suburbs either.

The house sits back from the main road on a nice long driveway, has a huge front yard, a beautiful stream, fire pit, plenty of parking, a fence between the nearest next door neighbor, and is fairly private. The large front deck is a great place to relax and eat, with a spacious hot tub as the highlight.

The cottage reminds me of the house my grandfather built for himself. It feels like it was built by brothers on weekends, rather than by a pro builder. Doors and windows open into each other, accommodations were made for certain items as an afterthought, things don't quite line up, etc. That's not a bad thing at all. It has quite a bit of character, and it's an eclectic mash-up of furniture, artwork, antiquated technology, and modern additions.

The bedrooms were on the smaller side, but we weren't really in need of more space. The beds were comfy and clean, and the HVAC was effective and easy to operate. The bathroom got the job done, and the kitchen was nicely stocked and everything worked. There were some games and puzzles available that my kids enjoyed inside, as well as a large bin of outdoor toys on the front deck. Although we didn't watch it much, the TV in the living room was hooked up to a Roku with Netflix and Amazon Prime. Wireless internet was solid, but no cell service.

Suggested improvements:

1. Lighting- It's extremely dark in the cottage, with dim lamp lighting. Brighter lighting would be helpful (LED bulbs?). Bring your LED headlamp to read and find things.

2. New microwave- The microwave had very low power and took a long time. It was also loud when trying to operate it with sleeping kids in the next room.

3. No firewood or cutting tools- I couldn't find a scrap of firewood on the property, nor could I find a saw or axe. I was forced to scrape some wood together at dusk, and didn't have any way to cut logs thicker than what I could break over my knee.

Overall we had a very relaxing, fun stay at the cottage. The stream area and hot tub were the highlights for my family. My girls had a blast, and we would definitely stay there again.

Bee Tree Cottage is located in the beautiful Swannanoa Valley 15 minutes east of downtown Asheville. The Biltmore Estate and the quaint town of Black Mountain are both a 15 minute drive from the cottage. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only 10 minutes away. It is 3 miles from Warren Wilson College where you find hiking trails, a local farmers market, and many cultural activities.

Western North Carolina is also home to Chimney Rock park, numerous waterfalls in Pisgah National Forrest, the Arboretum, and the Botanical gardens. Asheville and and Black Mountain are filled with great restaurants, shopping, arts and entertainment. For the outdoor enthusiast, you can hike on the property, travel 3 miles away to the trail along the Swannanoa River, or explore Montreat's many trials, right outside of Black Mountain.

Even with all Western North Carolina has to offer you may never want to leave the Bee Tree Cottage, the hot tub, private deck, and hammock by the creek are so inviting!
