Why Keith chose New Mexico

We purchased our home in Angel Fire because after camping and staying in the area on a number of occasions, we found it to remind us of the mountains of Colorado (with lots less crowds!) - where we had lived for a number of years. Also, as avid skiers and outdoor enthusiasts, we knew we would enjoy having a special place away from the hustle and bustle, and close to outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing and biking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed the tree house very much. We especially enjoyed listening to the elk calling down the canyon to the meadow in front if the cabin. That was a super neat experience. The house was cozy and efficient, the floor pops and creaks so we knew when someone was up in the night. Overall, cool place.

Quiet and cozy

This was a nice little house, very clean, with a pretty view out the front where we watched deer graze in the mornings. The spiral stairs to the loft were a favorite with the kids!

Spring Break Trip to Angel Fire

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a delightful stay at this wonderful cabin. The scenery was beautiful, the cabin was conveniently located (just minutes from the ski basin), and we even saw a huge herd of elk! The cabin was stocked with everything we needed to make our visit comfortable and stress free. We were the first to use the recently installed Wi-Fi, which was fast and easy to use. We had an amazing trip and would recommend this cabin to friends and family!

Ski Trip 2013

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Next time, we will bring bug spray to take care of the spiders, would have been nice if there was a can supplied. Our kids loved the hills next to the house, where they sledded for hours. The scenery was beautiful.

Chamberlain Review

  • 4 of 5

Overall we had a great experience with our stay. The only downside to this was, when we arrived at the cabin both toilets had to be cleaned bc of a black mold like sustance on the seat and in the actual bowl (it was a 'hairy mold'). The master toilet would not flush, this was a quick fix by my husband. Also, several spider webs throughout the cabin and dead spiders on the webs. We also found a dead fly in the main bathroom sink. The baseboards in the bedroom downstairs were very dirty (NOT master bedroom). Also, since we are suppose to take our garbage elsewhere, it would have helped to have had more than 1 extra trash bag. We had to use our wal-mart sacks to do get this job done. There was also only one very small used bottle of dishwashing liquid, which we ran out of, and could not do our dishes on the last day that we stayed there. Once we got this cleaned up, it was a lot more enjoyable!!!

I believe all of these things could have been avoided if a simple walk thru had been done prior to our arrival. So bottom line is: I would give this a GOOD/AVERAGE rating for initial arrival and an EXCELLENT after WE had to clean and were comfortable in out living conditions!

Owner's Response: Dear Sharon, First and foremost, please accept our apologies for the tidiness of the cabin. As we now live out of state, we must use the services of an external property cleaning company to handle logistics and guest preparations for our cabin. The details you shared mark the first time we have ever heard anything of this nature, and it is my belief this occurred as the company we have use was recently acquired (Summer 2012) by a larger firm in town. We have addressed each of your concerns directly with this company, and they have assured me that this will not happen again. In addition, we will be sending you a refund of the one-time cleaning fee for your inconvenience. Thank you for your candor and detailed feedback, as without it we could not have taken the necessary steps to rectify this from ever occurring in the future. The Chamberlains P.S. We are also glad to hear that you had an excellent stay once things were in order.

Christmas Trip to Angel Fire

  • 5 of 5

My four grown children and I stayed in this cabin for 3 nights during the Christmas holidays. We were delighted to find the cabin just as described in the listing. It was located just outside of town at the end of a dirt road that was easily accessible. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and had plenty of dishes, pots and pans, and linens. The scenery off the front porch was beautiful and the hill across the road had plenty of snow for building a snowman and sledding. (The owners provided two sleds for our use.) The kids skied at the Angel Fire resort. Employees at the ski shop were very helpful and took the time to fit the kids with boots, skis, and poles. We shopped at the local grocery store and were pleased about the selections and prices. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. The owner of the cabin was friendly and very helpful in answering questions about the property and making suggestions to ensure our visit was a success. There was no TV reception or wifi but we had fun playing games, watching movies, and reading books. (The owners provided games, books, radio, and TV with Video and DVD player). The ladies at the real estate office had everything ready for our check-in and check-out. Overall, our trip was a great success and I would recommend this property to friends and family. We would love to visit again next year!
