Pool / Spa
My husband and I stayed for 7 nights in this wonderful cabin during the latter part of September and early part of October 2009. We absolutely loved it! The pictures on the website are exactly as you will find the cabin. It was clean, cozy, comfortable and charming. The bed in the master bedroom gave us 7 nights of relaxing sleep so we were ready to enjoy all that the Tetons, Jackson Hole and Yellowstone have to offer. It was so nice to come home each day, relax on the front porch (very peaceful and quiet) and then prepare a meal in a clean and fully stocked kitchen. It was also exceptionally convenient to have a washer and dryer at our disposal. Towels were furnished as well, which cut down on personal items that we needed to bring.
We also enjoyed the hot tub several times. The deck provided privacy and the trees/flowers were enjoyable as we watched them blowing gently in the wind. We loved the wildlife that was so close as well. I filled up a bird bath that was left in the front yard near the cabin. That brought in plenty of birds, several squirrels and a chipmunk or two. One morning we also got many pictures of a herd of deer that decided to use our front yard to graze in. We had heard them outside in the night plenty of times, but had never seen them in the day light. That made for some good close up pictures.
Both my husband and I would gladly return here for another vacation and would recommend it to others as well.
One last note to anyone who knits. There is a fabulous knitting store fairly close to the cabin in Driggs. The owner has a good selection of both wool and alpaca. She also carries several kinds of knitting needles. I bought some alpaca yarn from animals that were raised on a ranch near Driggs. It is soft and reasonably priced. I made a scarf out of it and consider it to be a precious keep sake from our trip to Idaho.
Best Rental We’ve Stayed In
Absolutely loved the charm of the cabin. Pictures don’t do it justice. Our family joked that the outside looked like a Disney forest princess lived there, but the Prince got to cozy ruggedly decorate inside. Clean Secluded Hottub, Comfy Fireplace Interior. Close to multiple forests. Was a perfect homebase for our Grand Tetons vacation. (Small town Driggs has some great restaurants too)
My husband and I spent a week here in August. The cabin was just as great as the pictures show. It is only a couple of miles from Driggs but feels totally secluded. The cabin was supplied with everything we needed. There is no air conditioning, but there is no need for air conditioning. Even with the unusually warm temperatures during the day, the cabin stayed cool all week. We never even opened the windows at night. It was actually a little too cool for me (my husband thought it was perfect) so our nightly routine was to go hop in the hot tub and hang out there until I was hot and then go to bed. I absolutely LOVED the hot tub! You can't see a soul from the hot tub, or anywhere on the back porch for that matter. The only thing I didn't love about the cabin was the shower. As stated in the description, it is a claw foot tub/shower combo. It is situated in the middle of the bathroom. It looks neat, but it is a little awkward getting in and out of it. Definitely wouldn't be suited for an older couple. Otherwise, the cabin and our stay was perfect.
Gayle is very detail oriented and very easy to work with. She was quick to answer any questions I had. A couple of weeks before our trip, Gayle sent a list of things to see and do in the area. This was incredibly helpful in planning our drives.
Convenient house location,
Very dark. Many windows did not have screens. Strange bath/ shower. No grill. No supplies for hot tub. No tools. No light bulbs. Great location. No neighbor noise. Quit and cool. Well furnished kitchen.
We always appreciate feedback from our guests but we find some of these comments and 2 star review unwarranted or incorrect. Providing a comfortable and cozy stay is our main concern and we attend to many details at the property to keep everyone happy. I emailed Dennis during booking to check to make sure the cabin was right for 11 day stay and then again upon arrival, only the grill was mentioned to which I explained in detail.
1. Dark? House is loaded with windows, some floor to ceiling. Some have wood slat blinds which are for privacy for guests and when house is not in use. Blinds can be pulled all the way up and the house is filled with light. My taste/style is nature/outside/light/ and the house reflects all. The photos on our site page show all.
2.Screens in bedrooms, bath and dining and kitchen table area has 2 . All ventilate the house and are largely used to open at night with cool temps then close in day to provide "air conditioning". Especially this summer.
3.Tub is antique clawfoot which has great shower head and works perfectly. Listed in the amenities.
4. Grill is not available. We are in a wildlife corridor with deer/moose/racoons/skunks and occasional bear/mountain lion. Racoons knock grill over and make mess and then climb fence and poke at windows. Bear and food outside is disaster. Listed on site/house info, also explained to guest on first day of visit.
5. Hot tub care by professional service. Guests need not add chemicals which can
unbalance or damage the whole system. Using hot tub as directed will keep tub pristine. Phone for hot tub service is provided with all other house info.
6. Do not know why a guest would need tools in our rental home on vacation. We provide everything else. If anyone can give me a good reason to provide tools, pls let me know. Guests should not be fixing/repairing or using anything that needs tools in any rental home.
7. Light bulbs are in cabinet over washer/dryer.
All this could have been answered by a 1 minute call/email. We can not meet every guests tastes/needs but the house/style/decor and amenities are clearly listed and shown on the booking site page so one can decide before choosing. An extensive list is provided of information about staying in the house with emergency numbers and also all supplies needed but for your food.
Dennis also requested 3 more days renting after departure, so do not get the rating.
Please try us and visit our fantastic Teton Valley! Gayle and Mark
7 days for skiing at Targhee
Gayle was a fantastic, friendly, accessible host and the cabin was perfect for our stay. Great location both for Driggs and easy drive directly to the ski resort. We loved the hot tub and the heating system warmed our ski boots and mittens perfectly. Comfy beds and very clean and tidy.
Perfect Long Weekend
Our family of four loved our stay here! Perfect place to unplug and really enjoy quality family time. Gorgeous yard- we had wonderful conversations and meals on the front deck. Played lawn games and frisbee for hours. Loosened up after hiking and mt biking in the hot tub. The cabin itself is clean and comfortable. Loved the open floor plan and enough bedrooms for everyone. You couldn't ask for a better location- easy to run into Driggs or head up the hill for adventure. Wooded lot also provided a sense of privacy. Great property!!
