*An AUTUMN SPECIAL OFFER with rates as low as £215 per night.* This is a spacious, light and airy, three bedroom, second floor, self-contained apartment in an 1860's period conversion. Accommodation is for up to 6 people with one double bed and two further bedrooms each with single beds, all with fitted sheets and duvets. Fully equipped kitchen with fridge and freezer, washer/dryer, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, filter coffee maker, gas hob and electric fan oven, shower room and separate toilet, both with electric extractor fans. The apartment does not have a bath only a shower with wash hand basin. Towels and facecloths are provided as is a hairdryer. (Non-UK hairdryers, especially those from the US, have been known to trip the fuses). The apartment is fully furnished with central heating, cable HDTV, DVD player and FREE WiFi. There is no extra charge for cleaning as the apartment will have been cleaned between checkout and the next checkin.
This apartment is Family friendly but not suitable for babies or toddlers or those who find climbing stairs difficult. Business people attending Kensington Olympia will find the proximity to the event a major attraction - just a 5 minute walk away! Thee is also free access to the communal gardens at the rear of the building. Close by are two convenience stores, a dentist, dry cleaners, Chines takeaway and two renowned restaurants, Cibo (Italian) and Alounak (Middle Eastern). Large supermarkets are to be found at Westfield (Waitrose and Marks and Spencer) and Kensington High Street (Waitrose, Marks and Spencer and Whole Foods) and both have a wide range of boutique and high street retail shops.
Check-in Welcome Pack is provided including some basic foodstuffs. BUT NO BOTTLED WATER (in the interests of the environment)! On advice, the host will modify the selection if guests have any dietary issues (Vegan, nut or grain allergic), to be taken into consideration. Cleaning and fresh linen and towels are included in the standard price but for a stay of 2 weeks or more there would be an extra charge for cleaning and fresh bed linen but only if requested.
The apartment houses a small collection of books, DVD's, board games and magazines for guests' entertainment together with guides to local attractions and some further afield, tube maps and bus routes. Your host is usually on hand to help vacation planning, advice for restaurants, excursions and travel arrangements.
Russell Road is a quiet, tree-lined street without free parking except at certain times during the evening, at weekends and on Public Holidays. Some short term Parking permits are able to be purchased from the R B K & C offices or Westfield Shepherds Bush offers an economic rate for overnight stays.
A search on Street Map will show that 35A is very close to mainline trains, tube and bus routes connecting to Central and West London. Not far away is the M40 to Oxford and the Cotswolds, M4 to Heathrow, Windsor, Bath, Bristol and the West Country and the M1 to Birmingham, the Midlands and the North (20 mins) and, of course, to the famous Kensington High Street.
Westfield Mall and Shepherds Bush Green shopping and banks are an 8 minute walk away. And, to repeat, there are two convenience shops (open 0700 to 2300 7 days), laundry/dry cleaning (open on Sundays and will home deliver), celebrity hairdresser and Italian (Cibo) and Middle Eastern restaurant (Alounak) all of 200 yards away, both with a substantial reputation.
Holland Park stages a summer opera season, Leighton House is a few minutes walk away with Kensington Palace and Gardens and the Royal Albert Hall further down Kensington High Street. The Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum are just a few stops away with the Brompton Oratory and Harrods a few more in Knightsbridge.
For lovers of Royal history, Kensington Palace, the new home for Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge, George and Charlotte, Buckingham Palace and the Queen's Gallery are at the end of a short bus or tube ride from Kensington High Street (Bus no 9 or 10) and not much further on is the Royal Academy in Piccadilly, and the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square (Bus route no 9). Westminster with the Abbey and the Houses of Parliament are accessible by tube from Kensington High Street as is the Tower of London and other historical sites further east. There are a number of bus tours around London, which you can hop on and hop off as you wish as well as guided walks to see some historic sights and sounds by day and night, some of which start in Kensington.
Summer or winter the River Thames offers a splendid way to see the London's sights. A river boat from Westminster Pier to Greenwich, the home of the National Maritime Museum, the Cutty Sark and a thriving market is one of the most popular experiences. Portobello Market in Notting Hill, a must on a Saturday morning, is a stiff walk or an easy bus ride from the apartment, while further afield Camden and Borough Market and Petticoat Lane are both easily accessible. The Wallace Collection in Manchester Square is a must for any visitor to London!
Other historical sites include Hampton Court, Syon Park and Kenwood not forgetting, for lovers of plants, Kew Gardens and the Physic Garden in Chelsea. The Geffrye Museum is a fascinating experience for those wanting an insight into London's housing and Camden's London Jewish Museum provides a historical background to the Jewish contribution to British life with many conferences and exhibitions. And, for young and old alike, highly recommended is the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green.

AND never forget to buy your Oyster Card for the most inexpensive way to get around by public transport unless you want to use one of Boris's Santander bikes. There are two docking station within a five minute walk from the apartment. However, it is essential to ask a station assistant what is the best option for your particular stay.
