About Martin Everard

Born in Singapore and evacuated to England a few days before the capitulation to the Japanese, I returned to Malaya aged 6 and for 3 years led a life of childhood bliss on various rubber estates. Sent to boarding school and growing up in England, I eventually as a teenager joined the BBC where I worked for the next 26 years. Now retired, I live in London in Kensington since 1976, now with a partner for the last 24 years. I look after and manage three apartments which are private homes.

I am a retired television broadcast executive, with a CV that includes being a BBC television newsreader, a British America's Cup sailor, an owner of a television channel and a volunteer reader helper with Beanstalk. I also created and run an online virtual botanical art gallery for my mother, Barbara Everard. You can find details of all the above on the web.

For my own R and R holidays, I like to cruise, preferably on smaller ships such as those with Windstar (Wind Surf, Star Pride) and Oceania (Insignia, Nautica). So far, I have traveled from Singapore to Phuket, several times in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean; South America and Cape Horn, the Falkland Islands and through the Panama Canal to Nicaragua and French Polynesia; South Africa, Namibia and Mozambique tfollowed last year on my first river cruise on the Rhone with Scenic. But, if I were to choose my favourite place to holiday, it would be on the Cote d'Azur near Cannes. The delights of places like Biot, Mougins, LaNapoule etc never fail to disperse my stresses!

What makes this apartment unique

Walking distance to Kensington Olympia for those exhibiting at events there and great transport links to all those exciting places that visitors yearn to see on a London vacation. The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is home to Princes and Princesses, heirs to the throne, Dukes and Peers of the realm with a High Street on which you might bump into them at any time - well, hopefully not actually 'bump' but you might find yourself at a supermarket checkout beside one!

Great apartment in London

  • 5 of 5

This is a great apartment in London and is right next to the Overground (which connects to the Tube and goes into downtown London). Also, it is a short walk from the Tube.

The property manager, Martin, was wonderful and there is literally nothing that was missing from the apartment.

I highly recommend.

This is a fantastic flat in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The flat is spacious for London in a lovely area with good transport links. We used the Kensington High St tube but Shepherds Bush is also close. The number 9 bus from Trafalgar Square and number 10 bus from Oxford circus drop you at the end of the road. Beds were very comfortable and the linen was lovely. There are stairs which is to be expected with a Georgian flat in London. Our family of 6 were very comfortable. The flat is just as described and Martin is an excellent host. There was even food for us in the flat which meant that we didn't need to rush out and shop when jet lagged. Highly recommend this bnb

Wonderful Flat and an Unforgettable Experience

  • 5 of 5

Martin was so kind as to allow us to check in early and leave our luggage so we could explore unfettered on our first day. He sat down with us and explained how everything worked, helped us get where we were headed on the tube, and provided lots of amenities that we particularly appreciated when we arrived. We were so grateful that he provided some snacks, laundry detergent, hairdryers, eggs, etc. so we didn't have to try and figure it all out while jetlagged. The location of the flat was perfect, the proximity to the train was wonderful, the neighborhood felt safe and walkable (which we did), there were restaurants and convenience stores close by that we really enjoyed, and it was a great experience. There were lots of places to get ready in the morning which was nice. The beds were very comfortable and overall it was a fantastic stay, which I wouldn't hesitate to repeat. I hope to bring my children back and stay there again.

A wonderful place in central London

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this pleasant, clean and centrally located apartment for nine days. It has a well-equipped kitchen, a nice living room, two good size bedrooms, and a large bedroom.

It is located in a short walking distance (5 minutes) from bus lines along High Street Kensington, a 15-minute walk from the nearest tube station, and steps from Kensington-Olympia Overground station.

The owner, Martin, is extremely friendly and helpful.
