A two bedroom wheelchair friendly ground floor apartment on Loch Ness
The Old Armoury is a ground floor (wheelchair friendly) holiday home nestled on the shores of Loch Ness built in a unique Abbey in a unique location known as the award winning Highland Club, St Benedicts Abbey, Fort Augustus and centrally located within the Highlands of Scotland.
This apartment and the Abbey were recently chosen by the Amazon Prime "Grand Tour" car television series as their base for the filming of their Scottish Highlands show.
Short stays of 3, 4, 5 & 6 nights are welcome. Please refer to the end of this description regarding short stay rates.
The Highland Club facilities include a newly refurbished (opened in December 2017) 10 meter heated indoor swimming pool ('Chapel Pool') indoor heated swimming pool ('Chapel Pool') located in the Pugin designed Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, a steam room and sauna. Pugin’s sandstone walls are set off by a Brazilian green slate floor and large ornate windows affording stunning views across the Great Glen. The complex is serviced by a small changing room, shower and storage lockers. The gym is located on the floor below with weights, running, rowing and cycling equipment. Outside there's tennis courts, badminton, a barbeque fronting Loch Ness, a Giant Chess board, adventure playground, 5-a-side football, as well as may other outdoor activities located around Loch Ness. So much to do!
The apartment is fully equipped, including Netflix movies, Wi-Fi, baby cot and high chair. This is an excellent choice for any group or family looking for something a bit different to the norm with all the creature comforts and more. The Old Armoury offers high quality fixtures, fittings and furnishings good enough to please even the most discerning visitor.
This modern two bedroom (and double sofa), ground floor apartment is located in the Brothers Wing and is one of the most historically important sections of The Highland Club - built within the original bastion walls, this would have housed the armoury used in defence of the fort dating back to 1716. Just ten meters from the adjoining free parking area, and immediately on the shores of Loch Ness, it is one of the most convenient and accessible properties within The Highland Club.
The property is well equipped based on up to 6 guests, (plus a baby). While benefiting from all the facilities, The Highland Club has lots more than most Scottish Highland holiday lets have to offer and is one of a few wheelchair friendly properties at the Abbey.
Accessed via The Brothers’ Wing courtyard, and with all modern comforts and conveniences, this property is just steps away from the Club Lounge, the Monastery Lawn, Loch Ness, the Boathouse Restaurant and, as already mentioned, a variety of leisure facilities offered within this fabulous development, so it is the ideal place to enjoy everything on your doorstep, plus more when adventuring out into the Highlands themselves. The best of both worlds!

Absolutely breathtaking! Perfect location!
Right on Loch Ness! This building is exquisite!! We spent an entire afternoon taking pictures at the Abbey and enjoying the view. Definitely somewhere I wish we could have stayed for weeks. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Will definitely return on our next trip to Scotland!
Very nice property and location.
Great location to explore the region. The #5 flat was clean and ready for us and the welcome basket was a nice touch. We were very comfortable there. The grounds are wonderful and we made use of the grill area. The only complaint would be that the family bathroom had a musty mold/mildew odor that was mitigated by generous use of air freshener. Definitely not a deal breaker for us as Scotland is a damp country and some of that was expected. An odd occurrence was that the kitchen faucet would gurgle every now and then and spit out a bit of water. Just figured it had to be an old ghost playing with us. Overall, a good experience and we would definitely recommend it.
Very good flat at great location
Over all very good but on the down side the pool was not open because the room burned down. That was very sad because we were not informed about that before the trip and were looking forward to the pool.
Clean, incredible settings, really cool!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Armoury at the Highland Club. The flat was very spacious, clean, fully equipped, checking in was easy. The grounds are lovely, full of rabbits all over the place!, just at the southern end of Loch Ness, a minimal walk away from Fort Augustus, the locks, restaurants and the convenience store. The whole family enjoyed playing billiard in the lounge and chess in the closter. Definitely recommend.
Stupendous building, great location. Comfortable!
The property is wonderful, full of memories and graceful age. We had a groundfloor apartment in the Brothers' Wing. No fancy leaded glass windows but just good home comfort. The lake just a few steps from the door. Early morning bird song, rabbits on the lawns, fresh air and peace. And the beauty and variety of the region surrounding Loch Ness is delightful. There is a nice restaurant only a 100 yards or so right on the lake. Anywhere in the highlands is just a few hours away, though some of the narrow single lane roads were challenging at times. Very much recommended.
The property is lovely and well taken care of.
There were so many activities for my children: soccer pitch, playground, chess, watching the baby ducks. We spent most of our time outside as the weather was beautiful. The apartment was clean and roomy for a family of six. I really appreciated that there was coffee, tea, sugar and milk when we arrived.
Nestled on the shores of Loch Ness famous for the Loch Ness Monster “Nessie” and adjoining the Caledonian Canal in the heart of the Highlands of Scotland, The Highland Club is a beautifully renovated St. Benedictine Abbey which originally began life as a fort at Fort Augustus where it was purchased by the 14th Lord Lovat in 1867. His successor leased the buildings to the Monastic Order of Benedictines in the 1870s who began converting the buildings into an abbey, school and monastery. Today, the Highland Club is totally unique residence comprising of luxury apartments full of original features including a newly refurbished indoor heated swimming pool and spa. Explore the history of the area and its villages like Fort Augustus, Foyers, Cannich, and Drumnadrochit. Skiing is just 20 miles away at Aonach Mor which forms part of the Ben Nevis mountain range and en-route to the historic town of Fort William just 25 miles away with access to the Isle of Skye.
