Gambassi Terme Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Ideal for 4 persons, 1 big master with en suite bath and 1 twin and extra bath

Our home can host comfortably 4 adult persons, is completely new furnished and well equipped also for all cooking needs, has air condition and mosquito screens consisting in:

2 bedrooms (1 with en suite bath and double sinks, shower and bathtub).

1 master bed with 1.80 m x 2 m.

2 twin beds 1m x 2 m each (can become a double bed).

2 baths (each one with a shower and one has also a bathtub).

1 small but efficiently working open fire place under the “Dwarf’s hat”.

1 fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, toaster, hot water kettle and dishwasher,

1 terrace with table and 6 chairs and a sun roof.

1 shared huge infinity pool of 21 x 6.80 meters and landscaped (beach like soft entrance and whirlpool) into the Tuscan nature.

Little garden space with the exclusive right to be used by us and/or our guests of course.

Several acres of land shared with the neighbors of the hamlet

2 parking lots distant from the home, but you can get close to it for emptying the car.

It was originally the hen house and fowl stable, 5 stones and rocks left with a breath taking view. We called it “Dwarf’s house” but then another bed room came to it, “borrowed” from the big house besides and it became a true apartment with quite a big master bed room and its on suite bathroom with bath tub and 80 x 80 shower and a twin bed room for our sons with an extra bath and an 80 x 80 shower and a small sink. It can become a double bed room.

It is now a lovely comfortable apartment, ideal for two to four persons. The new beds are big and comfortable 2 m long, and fitted out with very good mattresses (orthopedically approved). The master bedroom has a little “Romeo and Julia” Balcony in a funny shape which allows you to step outside the walls.

The kitchen is fully equipped and custom made to measure to cope with the niches and edges which gives it an exclusive touch.

For someone who loves to create atmosphere and is fond of illumination, this apartment has the most switches and plugs of the whole Borgo, they said. But I love to live in different sceneries and feel the necessity for different lighting depending on what you are doing. For instance: romantic light, when you drink a glass of good red wine and lose yourself watching the flames in the open fireplace or strong light for reading or preparing dishes.

The outside terrace works like the extension of the kitchen in spring and autumn and is perfect for breakfast and lunch in these seasons and for dinner outside in the summer. It has a beautiful sun roof, but for lunch on a hot summer day you better go 2 m aside and enjoy the shadow of the huge cypress in front of the house, there is also a little bit of refreshing wind and one sleeps the sleep of the true.

The living area sits comfortably 4 persons around the open fire place. The living area is quite small and the open fire place works perfectly and is a remainder of the “dwarf’s house”.

In the living area everything is just on it’s place because it is it’s place, there is no more left. It is cozy and comfortable but not spacious. We preferred a second bed room instead as you usually live outside in Italy and make day trips or sit on the pool side or enjoy the view from our terrace.

All of us are quite tall, so we choose long beds ( 2m x 2m in the master bed room and 2 times 1m x 2 m in the second bed room, which can be put together and make a double bed instead of a twin bed room.

About Claudia Pirazzi

We are living in Florence and saw this ruin and this phantastic place. Working a lot and my husband being a chartered accountant and me a real estate agent and developing assistant of refurbishing and restoring houses, we loved this particular and quiet place and followed each step of the evolution of this Tuscan site.

Claudia Pirazzi purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Claudia Pirazzi chose Val d'Elsa

We found here the right place within nature which is peaceful and beautiful nature outside and sophisticated inside. The builder worked very thouroughly so the house is sane and dry.

The view is breath taking and privacy is given at the same time.

The pool is landscaped and also an attraction because very particular.

What makes this apartment unique

The position within the hamlet has the best views onto the skyline of Volterra in the far West and the night. Privacy and the terrace are unique to live on.The location if you want to see and visit Tuscany is very central and there are many many very good restaurants close by.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Absolutely Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

My family of four stayed at The Hammock for 11 nights during July. We had a fantastic time! The home is stunning, the pool is wonderful and the location will take you to many Tuscan towns. The beds are so comfortable I am hoping to purchase one for myself. I was concerned about the cost of air conditioning since my husband likes a cool bedroom but the fee was reasonable at 40 euro. Ms. Claudia is a considerate host who left a binder with information and guidance. She also arranged for clean sheets and towels mid-stay. If you are looking for the beauty of Tuscany, privacy of a villa, and luxury of a resort book this listing today!

Zauberhafte Unterkunft 25.03. bis 31.03.2016

  • 5 of 5

Alles bestens - immer wieder gerne

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed during two weeks at The Hammock and we had a fantastic time, the house and the location have everything we were looking for. The terrace has a lot privacy and the views are great, I could spend hours sitting there having a cup of coffee or a cold drink.

The house is well equipped with all one needs and the distribution is excellent, the bedrooms are comfortable, private and silent. The two level division and the way it was designed looks cool and it gives you the impression of a more spacious house.

The pool is great, my children loved it and the views are breath taking.

It's definitively a place to come back and to recommend to anyone who's looking for a relaxed vacation in the heart of Tuscany.

Relaxing haven with wonderful views

  • 5 of 5

Excellent standard of accommodation and lovely pool. Very clean and well-maintained. Wonderful views towards Volterra from the outside sitting area. Other pool users were considerate of each other. We had some good meals at Il Castagno. Good train service from Certaldo to Florence and Pisa. We would recommend the property, we could not fault it. If there had been a restaurant a bit closer so we did not need to take the car that would have made it perfect!

Exceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

On the way to the hamlet I began to worry...two weeks is a long time to rent a property unseen. My concerns were immediately relieved when we arrived and even more so once we settled in. The pictures do not begin to show how lovely and well maintained the property is. Everything has been furnished in the best taste and highest quality. The directions and you tube videos made finding the hamlet very easy and Fabio was there to greet and orient us to both the property and the surrounding area.

This is remote...and quiet. There were a few nights we were the only residents, but somehow that added to the experience...we felt like we owned this beautiful piece of Tuscany. The views are lovely but in the evening, when Volterra in the distance started to light up, they were spectacular.

Friends joined us for a week - there was plenty of room for two couples.

The kitchen was well-equipped for our cooking needs: pots, pans, dishes, glasses, flatware, utensils. The herb gardens, just off the patio, supplied us with ample seasonings.

The bathrooms were especially lovely and spacious.

The infinity pool is unique, commanding a gorgeous view of the valley and the hills to the west.

Several caveats: the gravelly, winding road leading to the hamlet is negotiable, but have a 'sturdy' vehicle; be prepared for the little jaunt to and from the 'parking lot' as residents may not park by their property; the walkways, steps and roads in the hamlet are quite 'rustic' - sensible shoes recommended.

We would absolutely return; we had an idyllic fortnight there.

San Gimignano is only 12 km from here and Florence about an hour and a quarter drive, more centre of Italy in the heart of Tuscany and still in the famous Chianti area, is this little jewel situated within a completely new restored Tuscan Hamlet, called Borgo di Mummialla. Surrounded by nature and nestled between 2 Natural parks: “Riserva Naturale di Castelvecchio” and the “Riserva naturale di Montenero” it is only 17 minutes from San Gimignano, Town declared by UNESCO to be part of the World's Architectural Heritage;

25 minutes to Volterra and only 3 km to a fantastic restaurant: Il Castagno. The location offers great pathes for wandering and strolling throughout the nature and maybe along the famous 'Francigena' which connected Paris to Rome by foot!

Most of the Tuscan attractions and must sees (if desired) are within 1 hour - 1,5 hours reach.

It is the ideal location to spend a few days, being within day-tripping distance of Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa and the beach to name but a few tempting places to re-discover.

Only 11,5 km, 16 min on the SP69 from San Gimignano,

Only 20,4 km, 29 min on the SP15 to Volterra ,

To Florence (airport) it is 72,6 km, 1h 20 min via Poggibonsi on the Firenze Siena,

to Siena 57,6 km, 1h 9 min on the same road just the opposite direction Raccordo Autostradale Siena-Firenze.

To Pisa (airport) is 65,9 km, 1 ora 19 min on the SS439 away.

To Castiglioncello (seaside – the Mediterranean) it is 59,8 km, 1h 18 min SP48 but there is also Marina di Pisa (mixed sand and rocky), Quercianella (rocky beach) to welcome you for a day at the beach and then come back and relax.

Closest airports are Florence and Pisa, each about 1.20 hours

On request we can organize or buy an item you miss or need, please tell us what you miss. The swimmingpool is active since the 28th of June 2012, there is a little whirlpool as a part of the landscaped pool, which has great views and is very different from all the other pools whith rocks built in and plants and a sandy looking beach within, not as soft as a sandy beach but great to walk into the depth slowly.
