Middle Ages, in the very heart of Bruges, a must: the 'Stoofstraat', the narrowest street of Bruges with the 'stoves', the public baths, where not only the bathing water was hot..) it was pure delight with wine, cherries, music and beautiful woman...
The 'Stoofstraat' still exists, the public baths no longer.
However, in the 'Stoofstraat', between the historical buildings in the golden triangle of Bruges, lies a well kept secret. Under the roof of the holiday apartment 'De Stoof', a luxurious bedroom w/ jacuzzi awaits you. From the jacuzzi, under a huge attic window, enjoy the stars in the sky & a unique view of the tower of the church 'Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk'. Along with a bottle of wine & cherries, offered by your hostess Carine, these are the ingredients for a romantic stay.
The apartment has: fully equipped kitchen, modern living room (w/ sofa bed), sunny roof terrace, a bathroom w/shower, washbasin & toilet, master bedroom w/ jacuzzi, washing machine, dryer.
Radio (IPod dock)
This apartment is everything it says in the listing! Beautifully renovated, with all the amenities that you could need. Highlights for us were the little terrace overlooking the square, where we sat and ate breakfast, and the twin -sized Jacuzzi in the bedroom complete with wine.
Location is perfect for exploring the exquisite historic centre of Bruges, and within walking distance of the train station and all the museums etc.
And Carine was the most welcoming and helpful of hosts. We were hoping to locate a family in a small Belgian town where my father had been billeted during the war and when we told Carine this, she located the village and called the town office for us to find out whether family members were still there. Thanks to her, we were able to visit the village for the day and meet family members, which meant a great deal to me.
All in all, the perfect place to stay in Bruges.
Although we got off to a rough start with our transportation from Brussels to Bruges, every minute after we arrived was perfect! Due to travel logistics, we didn't arrive until 11:00 PM. Carine not only extended her workday to meet us at that horrible hour, but also provided us with ham, bread, cheese, butter and jam to tide us over, knowing that we might be hungry... And we were! Being an artist, with an eye for beauty and function, she created the most lovely space in which to reside on vacation! The location is perfect, walking distance to everything one would want to see in Bruges and yet off the main drag.
One can see the top of the cathedral from a couple of windows in the unit. One of these vantage points is from a hot tub, which makes it extra special when it is lit up at night! Carine is a people person which is very obvious by the warmth in her personality and genuine care for those who are staying at her place. The only obstacle would be that this unit has two separate flights of stairs that could make it difficult for some to access the various floors at the apartment. Otherwise, everything could not have been more perfect! Should we return to Bruges, we would go out of our way to make sure we stayed at this place again!
I could say nothing but great things about this apartment. The moment we arrived in the taxi we were so excited and charmed by the little cobblestone street we had to walk down to get to our front door. Carine met us right away and showed us upstairs to the lovely apartment. It was all modernly updated with everything you could need. The bed was very comfy and tub was a neat plus. It has a great view through the skylight! The living space was perfect for us, and we loved opening all the windows to hear the activity below. The location was perfect. Lots of nearby restaurants and pretty much everything in short walking distance. We will definitely stay here if we return to Bruges!
Where to start? This place was perfect! The apartment is in an ideal location, nestled in a small cobblestone, exquisitely inviting street. There is a small plaza across the street with a few restaurants and a brewery. It is not the largest plaza in Bruges so it is not disruptive, but it is close enough to the rest of Bruges that you can walk everywhere.
Everything inside the apartment is modern, up to date, chic and functional. The tub is incredible and lends a great view. The bed is soooo comfortable you will find yourself struggling to get out of it! The owner, Carine, is a complete pro – she handled all of our requests with ease. We even ran into her and a friend at dinner at the French Restaurant, Malesherbes, around the corner and enjoyed a glass of wine (or two!) together.
The views from the apartment are stunning; from landmark towers to rolling rooftop hills of neighboring buildings. This apartment made our visit to Bruges a favorite one of from all of our travels – and we travel quite a bit! Enjoy – you’ll love staying here.
We stayed in this amazing apartment last week for 3 days. The location is absolutely perfect, a short walk from all the sights, restaurants, bars etc. Carine, who owns the apartment, was so lovely and helpful - which really put us at ease.
The apartment itself was perfect. The jacuzzi bath was by far the best bit and as it rained all day it was much welcomed! We spent a lot more time in the apartment than we usually would, just because it was so convenient (could literally just pop in and out of it all day) and because it was lovely.
Would 100% recommend this apartment and we will definitely be staying there again - hopefully very soon!
We recently stayed at this romantic centrally located apartment in Bruges. Carine the owner was very easy to work with and the property was exactly as advertised, clean, and in excellent repair. There are two rather steep sets of stairs in the apartment but we had no problem carrying our luggage up and the beautiful
setting including tub-for-two, wine, full kitchen, and outdoor space was exceptional. The bed was amongst the best on our trip.
Overall, We highly recommend this property and would stay again if we are in Bruges.
Bruges was our favorite stop on our entire European vacation .
