5 days in Here Comes The Sun
Great place for two people. Loved the view and everything about the house. The driveway is not for the faint hearted!
I could go on and on but sufficed to say, Here Comes the Sun exceeded my expectations. Anthony and Emily (property managers) made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. The house is clean, comfortable and has amazing views. The thoughtful touches include everything you need for a day at the beach (chairs, umbrella, cooler, etc.). This is probably stipulated somewhere, but 4-wheel drive is an absolute must to reach the property.
This was our second time to St. John and first time to Calabash Boom. We enjoyed every minute of our vacation! Emily was very accommodating and met us at the house to show us around. This was a perfect villa for my wife and I. It had everything we needed (coffee machine, beach gear, privacy, etc). The views are amazing looking over Coral Bay. We would definitely stay at Calabash Boom again!
Thank you for the kind words, Doug! We're so happy you enjoyed your time in Calabash Boom, and we would love to welcome you back again! (Kim & Sam, property owners)
Here comes the sun
We loved the cottage and the view. Emily was very helpful at telling us where things were and about the island. The house was very well stocked with all we needed and then some. They should take off the washing machine on the description s it is not there. We would like more shade on the deck, but we hear the owners plan on that.
We would recommend the house.
We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed the island, our cottage and its amenities. We apologize for any confusion regarding laundry machines. We do not list anywhere that we have them available for guest use. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication with a previous guest who left an inaccurate comment--perhaps that was the source? Thank you for choosing to stay with us and we hope you visit again!
Nice cottage with every amenity that we needed. Good views. We enjoyed watching beautiful sunrises from the deck. We loved the outdoor shower.
Parking is not really convenient.
Nothing beats an island sunrise! We're so glad you enjoyed the cottage. Thank you for choosing Here Comes the Sun, and we hope you visit again!
For the right renter -- people like us -- Here Comes the Sun is an ideal house. It's located high on a steep hillside, with a big deck that offers an exceptional, panoramic view of Coral Bay, the East End of St. John, Tortola, and more. We basically lived on the deck, and loved it!
The set-up of the small house is very convenient, with two trivial caveats: the bedroom and 2nd bath are downstairs, reached by exterior steps; and there was no washer/dryer (It was damaged by the hurricaine, and may soon be working again). Otherwise, everything was perfect -- clean, well-maintained. It's a cozy place, just right for a couple.
Anthony took meticulous care of us. When we arrived, he met us at Coral Bay and led us to the house. He showed us everything we needed to know, and was friendly and welcoming. We called him once, when we decided to use the TV and couldn't figure out how: He cheerfully came right over and solved our problem.
You should know that the house is reached by a long, steep, mostly dirt road. You will definitely want to rent a Jeep Wrangler, and if driving terrifies you, pick a different house. The road didn't bother us.
We had a perfect vacation there. The view is unforgettable.
We're thrilled you enjoyed the island, our cottage and the off-the-beaten-path charm of Coral Bay! We can't agree more that Emily and Anthony do a fantastic job. Just to ensure future guests have the correct information, we wanted to point out that the cottage does not provide laundry for guests. Anthony had confused our property with another he manages. Thank you for staying with us, and we hope you visit again!
Close drive to food markets: Calabash Market is at the bottom of the hill/road, and about five minutes from there is Love City Market. Also close drive to downtown Coral Bay (e.g. Aqua Bistro, Skinny Legs, Pickles in Paradise, Indigo Grill) and in opposite direction just a few minutes drive is Miss Lucy's.
