London Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Delicious Central London one bedroom apartment.

Midway between King's Cross St Pancras and Angel stations, a traditional Georgian residential neighbourhood awaits your visit. For over twenty years this home has been a convenient pad for music and film industry creatives. A perfect place from which to explore London and visit the well known sights and attractions. Close to superb Islington eateries such as Ottolenghi and Jamie Oliver's Italian - as well as many others - this comfortable first floor flat is brilliant as a base for a taste of authentic London.

This is vibrant Islington, on the northern edge of Central London with its eclectic mix of bars and pubs, shops and antiques, theatres and cinemas. A Sainsbury's supermarket - open til midnight on weekdays and late at the weekends - will allow you to stock up on your essentials, whatever time you arrive. In the apartment you will find all you need for your stay, from fluffy towels to broadband and wifi.

This is modern metropolitan living as convenient as you need it to be.

The great thing about not staying in a hotel is that *you* get to decide when to get up! No set breakfast times to share with all those other tourists. You can just wallow at leisure in luxurious bedding, waking to your own music using the integrated iPhone charger or find local radio stations to set your mood.

Indulge in energising hot water for a shower or bath with fluffy Clarissa Hulse towels to completely relax. The salon style hairdryer and iron with ironing board (if you must!) will complete your look whilst your partner is out getting the fresh stuff.

Around the corner Chapel Market is bustling 7 days a week, brimming with good value London necessities. Get that freshly baked bread, enjoy some healthy fruits or just go for that full english breakfast! In the green park opposite the flat, you can join energetic types for a morning jog or catch some sunshine (when available!). At the bottom of the hill, go to Cally Pool for a quick swim.

Meantime, why not plan the rest of your day? Some useful guidebooks are yours to use at the flat. Broadband internet and wifi are always on, because we understand you want to stay connected.

If you are staying a bit longer, feel free to use the efficient AEG washer dryer. The 30 degree time saving wash gets things done in just over an hour. If there are more than two of you, the sofa in the lounge converts to a double bed and there are two single quilts to get comfortable. Plenty of towels for four but remember this 35 square metre apartment is bijou rather than palatial. We do find it comfortable for ourselves and our two teenage children. There is another iPod/iPhone charger with speakers to enjoy your music in the lounge.

And because we know that a good coffee or tea *whenever you want* can be essential, we have made sure that the kitchen comes fully kitted out for that perfect crema espresso or that fragrant cuppa.

In the kitchen you will find the best pans ever, if you want to make your own meal. Easy to clean hob and combination oven microwave makes cooking a pleasure. Elegant wine glasses with plenty of modern dishes will quickly make your meal at your London home taste yum! Don't want to cook? Just order a takeaway for delivery within the hour. Atmospheric lighting gets you in the mood to just crash out in your own London hideaway. Digital TV and catch up services gives you plenty of choice

About maryke

Growing up on three continents it is not surprising that I have got the travel bug and have lived in different places. Now that my children are teenagers I love exploring with them too. In the last few years we have been lucky enough to do the New York to LA road trip (me driving all the way!), to fall in love with Bali, be enthralled by Morocco, its food, its natural beauty, its creativity and to find that there is a whole lot more of Northern Europe than we realised by visiting Nordkapp. A few years ago we watched the world come to London for the Olympics but did sneak out for hot sunshine in Gozo near Malta. Last summer we did an eastern European capital cities road trip visiting Berlin, Krakow, Budapest, Bratislava and Vienna, treading historic ground which just a few weeks later was the route for those seeking a new life, walking where we had driven, free as a bird. 6 countries, 5 cities, 4 wheels, 3 people, 2 weeks, 1 Europe. No passports. Remarkable. Such riches...

maryke purchased this apartment in 1989

Why maryke chose England

This bijou apartment was my home for many years. I thoroughly enjoyed living here as a single lady before I had my kids, close to the shops, restaurants and many buses thing you all over London. The local amenities, literally just around the corner, have increased over the years, making this place just so easy. Everything is on your doorstep. This is true metropolitan living in the 21st Century. As a family we love returning to this wonderful spot in Central London to soak up the buzz and surf London's inspirational zeitgeist.

What makes this apartment unique

The floor to ceiling windows and the great view over the park give a sense of space and I love looking out of the window watching the world go by. The street has enough bustle to not feel too quiet but lively enough to feel that creative London spirit, always on the go. The bedroom is a calm retreat with birdsong in the mornings over the courtyard gardens, especially in summer. If you imagine the cars gone, you'll easily imagine yourself in an early 19th Century Jane Austen novel. The apartment is one of three in a house which was probably built around the 1820s... Your lounge was the parlour!

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Our family of Mum, Dad and two teenage boys had a very comfortable stay in this very conveniently located apartment. It lived up to the owner's description. Booking was very straightforward, professional and friendly. The accommodation was very comfortable and although small, it contained everything you need and certainly is much better equipped than most accommodation available for holiday lets. There was an umbrella for rainy days and shopping bags too! Islington is a great base from which to explore London, lots and lots of cafes, shops and great transport links. Would recommend this apartment for a couple or a family of 4.”

Cozy apartment at semi-busy intersection, close to many amenities

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for 5 days / 4 nights and enjoyed the coziness. It's a small apartment but the layout is nice, the couch and bed are comfortable, and we had no problem cooking a few meals with the provided cookware.

The location was perfect for us: on a semi-busy intersection (really made us feel "part of the city") and across from a lively park. It's a couple (3-6) blocks to most amenities, and transit is required to get to most landmarks, but that's par for the course for this area of the city. We got an unlimited transit pass and that was well worth it! Short walks to the tube and bus stops.

One negative: we were very much looking forward to watching British television, but unfortunately the satellite was out and when we asked, there were no plans to fix it (at least while we were there). A minor issue but still a bummer.

Overall we'd recommend this apartment, primarily for the location and pricepoint.

Great apartment in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We feel so lucky to have been able to find such a great apartment for our stay in London. The area is so nice - a quiet escape after a busy day sightseeing and hitting tourist stops. There were lots of restaurants and grocery stores withing a 5-10 minute walk of the apartment - we ended up at Sainsbury's almost daily - it was so easy to pop to the store to pick up the odds and ends we needed. The Angel underground station was a quick walk away (5, maybe 10 mins), and the distance to King's Cross is also walkable (approx. 20 mins).

The owner/managers were very accomodating of our early arrival and the apartment was prepped and ready for us. It had all the dishes and things we needed. It was very convenient to have laundry soap, hand soap, salt, pepper, etc. as well - we appreciated that a lot, and were more than happy to replace if something ran out. And the washer/dryer allowed us to pack light for our 10 days in London! They provided lots of towels, blankets, sheets, etc.

We had two adults and two children staying in the apartment, and there was certainly enough room for all of us. :)

Thank you Maryke, Eti & Daniel for everything!

This was the perfect apt for me in London!

  • 5 of 5

This place is as stylish, cute and comfortable as it looks in the pictures! The location is great-- very easy walk to metro/buses, market and trendy area with shops and restaurants. I also loved the farmers/street market down the road. A playground is right across the street if you travel with kids. I cooked a lot here (and did laundry) and everything worked well. My hosts were perfect and attended to my every need. I look forward to staying here again and again! You really won't go wrong selecting this apt for your London visit!

Definitely our home away from home

  • 4 of 5

My kids and I celebrated their recent graduations with a trip to London and stayed in this wonderful flat. The location was great for all the activities we planned in the London area. Loved having the Tube station and bus stops so close. Great local take-away for a few nights we were too tired to trek back out. Market and shops within walking distance. Felt like home being in a neighborhood and out of the tourist area.

Great Location for London Vacation

  • 4 of 5

We are just back from 9 nights in London and this flat is exactly as described. It's perfect for two people but can accommodate 1-2 more on the sofa bed if necessary but it would be a little crowded for that in our view. It's a 10 minute walk to the underground walking by many stores (Boots, H&M, movie theatre, The Gap, Costa Coffee, McDonalds), pubs, restaurants and the Chapel Market which was great. There is also a bus stop less than a 3 minute walk away. A small corner store is 1 block away. Islington has anything you would need but for getting to the sights all over London it's mostly a 15 minute tube ride and never more than 30 minutes. The only minor point I would advise about is that the bed is a double by North American standards. We had no issue with that and most importantly it was very comfortable. There were a few minor maintenance/repair type things I've advised the owner of but nothing that makes this any kind of issue. Lastly, this is a very quiet and safe area.

The Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at in London. The location was perfect, we enjoyed many long walks and exploring the area. The handbook that Maryke providing for information on the flat and the area was very helpful. The towel warmer was perfect after a shower, comfortable bed, very well stocked kitchen and linens. The windows bring in lots of light and people watching. I would highly recommend this flat.
