Great home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 4 days at the property this spring. Fantastic views of Toledo. Easy access in and out of town and a great location for day trips. The caretakers are lovely people and the home's owner was helpful in setting up the trip.

The house sleeps many couples comfortably and the evening walks in the olive groves and the nighttime view are extraordinary!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments, David; I think they will help future travelers. Yes, we know we have a nice house and work to help our visitor to enjoy their trip. This kind of non professional local assistance is very often useful when you visit a region that you do not know well. As you suggested, we acept now credit card payments thru the homeaway platform.

Wonderful property, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We were a family party of 11 staying for a week at the end of October. The house and grounds are lovely, lots of beautiful furniture, art and architecture, but also very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed eating in the lovely dining room, with doors open, looking over Toledo. We had wood burning stoves both downstairs and upstairs all week which was lovely for the time of year.....although the weather was very good (16-22 degrees). Catalino and Gabrielle, the housekeepers were super, helpful, but not intrusive. The dog, Toby, was no problem, very well behaved and came down to visit us from time to time . The walk into town was easy ( once you find the gate in the wall) and we walked to Toledo every day. We also had a car which was useful for shopping, supermarket is about 15 mins. We also took the AVE to Madrid for a day and went to Consuegra to see the windmills and Saffron Festival.....a good day trip. Toledo is great to walk around .......easy to get 'lost' but after a few days we found our way easily. Our teenagers enjoyed the zip wire.....and we walked round the town by the river gorge path which was excellent. The pool was closed, but we could see it would be great in the summer. Also the teenagers enjoyed the games room....pool and table tennis. Overall a perfect holiday, I would thoroughly recommend the house to anyone.

Like a museum

  • 3 of 5

First of all, the few negatives: Catalino and Gabriela, the caretakers who live on the property, are originally from Romania. Spanish is their second language and trying to converse with them in our rudimentary Spanish was challenging. Most difficult was trying to get directions to the property, which is difficult to find and GPS doesn't get you all the way there. Better written instructions to the property, especially the last mile, would be very helpful. Catalino and Gabriela also own a puppy (Toby), who was tied up under a tree most the time and cried a lot. If you are an animal lover, this could be somewhat distressing, but the puppy will of course be older when future renters arrive.

Now for the positives: This home and property are unbelievable. The pictures do not do it justice. Every room is like a museum. It is decorated beautifully, with fabulous antique furnishings and artwork. The structure is steeped in history. The whole experience is so atmospheric and you really feel privileged to be there. I could not get over the tile work. The house is vast, with two kitchens, two dining rooms, multiple outdoor spaces, and everything so beautifully appointed and well stocked. The lovely pool area was a perfect spot the end each day. I cannot rave enough about the home and property. We were there for a week and even spent two days lounging about the home without sightseeing because we couldn't pull ourselves away from the experience.

Nothing is within walking distance, so you either need to drive into town for meals or stock up at a grocery store (there are many within a 15 minute drive). The kitchens have everything you need to create meals. Catalino and Gabriela care for the grounds (which are vast), but they are very unobtrusive and courteous. Teresa, the owner, was very responsive and the financial transaction could not have been smoother.

The home is a great central point for exploring the region. We took the train from Toledo to Madrid twice and that was a simple process. We also drove to Cuenca, Segovia, and Avila and all were easy drives. Toledo is about a 10 minute drive away, but be careful of parking restrictions.

We truly loved our stay in this magnificent home and were all depressed when it was time to leave. I hope we have the opportunity to return some day.

Owner's Response: We sincerely appreciate your comments. Regarding your “few negatives”, we will include a map for the last two miles with the information we provide to our visitors. You are right: it is easy once you know the way, but it could have some difficulties the first time. We will keep picking up lost people when they call Catalino. The problem with the dog is that it is a little too people loving and Catalino and Gabriela are afraid it could disturb the relax of our visitors. They have no problem to let it free if so requested. And regarding your many positives the only thing I can say is that I am glad you have enjoyed the house and the rest of your journey in Spain so much. But, does not that deserve a rate higher than 3? I think that 3 means "no bad".

Our most relaxing vacation in Spain.

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 10 stayed in this wonderful big house that sits on top of a hill overlooking the Old City of Toledo. The house has plenty of living spaces with a large outdoor sitting area, and a nice swimming pool. It was very comfortable, quiet, and only few minutes drive to the old town, supermarket, restaurants, and train stations.

Diego & Maria, who live on the property were very helpful, and managed to communicated with our little knowledge of Spanish.

The owner, Teresa, communicated well in English and was prompt with our inquiries about the house and the town of Toledo.

We definitely would recommend this house for up to 11 persons who wish to visit the old town of Toledo.

We all had an amazing & relaxing time staying in this property, and hope to visit again someday soon!

Like a dream!

  • 5 of 5

We were very excited to stay here, and were really sad when it was time to leave. Everything was as described, but what couldn't be described was the feeling you will have when staying here: a unique experience!!! It was excellent, it was a dream! We drove from Toledo by car, about 2 minute drive, but walking distance was only 10 minutes, and 15 to the city! At firs we didn't know how to get there, but We have been showed us the way! He was very helpful in everything and we are very grateful to having him right next door! We felt at home from the very first moment and very warm welcomed! And for this price you won't get any luxury hotel, but this! It was like living a dream, having your Hacienda, high life, and a the same time feeling the freedom of the countryside being mere 10 minutes walk from Toledo! We all very suggest it to anybody who wants a great and pleasant experience! Thank you and we will all be back, count on that!

Nice, old fashioned Spanish property

  • 4 of 5

This is a true, old fashioned manor-style country house located in the hills overlooking Toledo. A very big house with 5 bedrooms was more than sufficient for 3 families including 6 young children. House has a nice big kitchen, a very large dining area, sitting area, entrance lobby and very spacious bedrooms.

The best part of the house is the wonderful pool and an outstanding view of the entire city. We really enjoyed the pool and also just sitting outside the house facing the city at night.

Teresa and his daughters are very helpful, despite their difficulty with English and out difficulty with Spanish. They were very prompt in getting groceries for us and helping us with the cars, and anything else we needed.

However, to set the expectations correctly, this is not a 5-star hotel and therefore be prepared to be comfortable with old fittings and an in general older furnishings and kitchenware. Also the place is not really walkable from town and therefore having a car is helpful which we did not have. That said, it never bacame a bottleneck to us having fun.

All in all, a wonderful vacation.
